Wow. $10 to play maps that you already have or $15 for new maps and a pair of rehashes? I guess EA isn't so sweet after all.

@Zoot
Did you read the part about paying $7 for individual kit unlocks?
Perhaps EA is reverting back to their old selves...

Yeah, I never hopped on that wagon. BFBC2 is a great game, but I personally never felt as though Activision charging $15 for new maps (and old maps too) was terribly out of question. Now, seeing this?! $15 for, at least some, new terrain seems like a bargain.

As much as i've loved Battlefield games over the past 10 years (ive played all of them except BF2142), I won't give DICE another PENNY of my money until they fix the lag in BC2. It was NEVER laggy in the PS3 beta last December, but patches 1.02-1.04 have been laggy in most servers I join, its pathetic. So much for dedicated servers right now :-/

Viper, I think you have 9... I assume you aren't counting Heroes as part of the set, but why are you counting 1943? As good as it is I don't think you can really equate it to other "full games;" I think it would be much easier to produce.

Still, a lot of games.

(NOT implying that 1943 can't be as GOOD as a full game, just that it didn't cost as much nor take as much time to make)

Wait, wait, wait.

I am sorry, but there is a HUGE difference between adding Firefight/Horde to a game for 10$ and adding maps, 2 of which are remakes, for 15$ for using in a feature ALREADY THERE.

If only the MW2-hating internet crowd that loves BC2 so much had played ANY of the previous Battlefield games on PC.

Bad Company and Bad Company 2 are the only DICE games that I've regretted purchasing. Both of them are incredibly shallow compared to the previous Battlefield titles, and each one is just more like COD4 and MW2 with tiny, linear maps except that they have lower framerates and much worse control schemes.

What is BC3 going to be, exactly? A "Battlefield" game with no air vehicles, MW2 sized maps and a few Humvees thrown in?

Making the game take 500 hours of playing to get to the top level does not make it a great multiplayer game.

As it stands, MW2 may have ninja knifers and tiny Quake III style arenas, but it's still a hundred times better than BC2. And this is coming from an old school Battlefield fan. I've played every main game of the series and the Bad Company ones are by far the worst.

bad company maps are tiny? the hell are you talking about? maybe i'm spoiled because most of my online experience is from COD, but still, they're pretty freakin big.

Or the glorious days of Battlefield 1942, when all of the patches, which included with them completely new maps and vehicles, were free of charge.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a watered down Battlefield 2. Battlefield 2 itself was largely a watered down version of the amazing, completely free, fan made Battlefield 1942 mod Desert Combat.

Basically when you play BC2, you're playing a thrice-watered down version of Desert Combat, with most of the things that made it so great either gimped or removed entirely.

I'm pretty sure they do use dedicated because thats how EA rolls and you never have to migrate host in the middle of a game. This is also how EA can justify asking for money for second hand purchasers and additional game modes to play online.

Yup, that is sure going to deter people from buying used. O_o

no the game is definitely good, but i think it's clear that the "VIP" pack isn't producing any real extras worth of mention.

So far, anything that came as a result of the VIP pack could have been in the game shipped.

Either way, i still got 50 dollars worth from my 50 dollars, so at the same time, i won't complain.

i have hundreds of hours logged in, with hundreds more to go i think.

totally done with this game. for the record ea, you totally could have done something great with this game. the engine and gameplay are amazing but you totally screwed us with this whole "VIP" garbage. i'm just tired of waiting for actual maps instead of modes that should have been included from the start. i truly feel sorry for anyone who actually gave up the 1200 ms points for this ridiculousness

I'm thankful this mode isn't coming to PC, it didn't sound that good anyway and the fact is 10 dollars is just ridiculous. DICE if you want to charge for something, release a map pack with 3-5 maps for 5 dollars and I will buy it.

I usually support what most people say around here in the commenting section, such as Activision being evil and cash grabbing, and that BC2 is MW2's kryptonite and etc. etc. etc. but no matter what people will say .. I think this is ridiculous.

I remember most people (including me) praising EA & DICE on BC2, and their patch, vip pack support and what not but that was short lived man .. and the VIP stuff isn't even that great. This to me is the first TRUE DLC and here we see that its $10.

I mean it is better than 3 new, and 2 old maps for $15 but that doesn't justify what EA is doing here.

Too bad DICE has no say in this, there was an article that mentioned DICE not wanting to charge for DLCs, but EA thought otherwise and here we are ...

It's just very misleading to the consumer. The VIP was there to encourage people to buy the game new for awesome content, or pay for the VIP status for awesome content. We see plenty of free map packs, which are just existing maps shuffled into different modes. Now we are expected to pay for a mode that will probably end up the same. Free VIP map packs for onslaught! Which will be what they have been doing until the next paid for mode.
