If anyone here needs more reason to be annoyed with EA/DICE, you should check this out, straight from their web site:

"Also this month, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Kit Shortcuts will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for those players who don't have time to spend leveling up to unlock all the kit specific items but still want to be competitive with those who have unlocked everything. The Kit Shortcuts will give you the unlocks available for kit each kit while still allowing you to progress through the ranking system as normal and will be available for 560 MS Points/$6.99 individually or if you want the whole bundle of kit shortcuts including the 7 available vehicle unlocks, 1600 MS Points on Xbox Live and $19.99/17.99€."

http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2010/06/10/prepare-for-the-onslaught.aspx

Why have people EARN stuff when you can just CHARGE them for it??

Ahhh the lovely smell of bullshit. Thanks for posting that as I had no idea about it. The "greatness" of BFBC2 was short lived. Now I feel like we are just being milked while they can do it.

Wait are you talking about SPECTAT kits or kits you get from actually playing the game? If its the in game kits, why pay for whats in the game? It takes away the fun of unlocking stuff for playing.

Again, I fail to see anything wrong with this. All the stuff buyable either gives you no advantage or allows you access to something that is obtainable over time. Its not really a measure of skill as to whether or not you can unlock new items, but a measure of time.

Its not something I would spend my money on, but if you are a busy exec who works 60 hours a week and only has a little game time, then you are in a position where you have more money than you do time, and this would actually be a good investment for you, as BC2 is realy a crapton more fun when you have stuff unlocked.

If anything this expands the total market, as its a pain in the ass to jump in the game w/o unlocks this late. Seriously. Roll an assault using the first assault gun with no specializations and no ammo box. Play a few rounds. See how fun it is.

@R

Yeah, it is not referring to the SPECTAT kits.

Yeah, they can make some money off it, but does that make it acceptable? It doesn't take that long to level up in the beginning and get an ammo box or an unlocked gun. Everyone else did it when they bought the game...

agree with R, I fail to see anything wrong with this. Its an option, but it's a whole lot more fun to earn it. It is rather time consuming to progress through the kits (I found a lot of trouble earning my med kit and defib) so I could understand if someone wanted to buy the rest of a kit. It makes your team stronger and the competition more fierce.

I don't see how this is milking.. Earn it for free like EVERYONE else, or if you aren't that good or don't have the time, you can buy it.. It isn't inexpensive for a reason either.

What I want to know is if this is EA's doing, Dices, or a little bit of both. Just seems a little hard to believe that a developer would do this to it's fanbase of its own free will.

I was really thinking of picking up this game since MW2 is getting terrible so is it worth the buy or not?

From an old Battlefield fan, no, BC2 is not worth it.

Unfortunately for us, BC2 is just a clunky, watered down version of Battlefield 2. All you can expect are some horrible controls and netcode.

Wait, wait, wait....you're pissed because you have to pay money in order to add points to your e-peen?

Seriously, who gives a damn? The achievements dont do anything for you. They dont make your character stronger, and arent exchangable for real world money, or even MS funbucks. Yeah, they can be fun to get, but getting those SPECACT acheviements means that you had money to blow on stupid shit. Nothing else, not like those achievements require work.

By the same measure you should get pissed off at ALL DLC and expansion packs that ever add any new achievements to a game.

You paid $60 (or $50) for the single player, multiplayer, the promise of new maps in the future, and 1000 obtainable achievement points. You got your single player, your multiplayer, your 1000 achivement points, and (sort of) new maps. I can get being pissed off about the new maps not really being new, but its not like not getting this SPECACT stuff harms you in any way. The actual in game advantage is minor at best.

Damn people are spoiled these days. Does anyone play games for...you know...fun anymore? Or is it all "OMFG NEED MOAR GAMERSCORE NAO!"

I am loving BFBC2 so I am in on this, no matter the 10 dollars. Also, the fact that it will help my stats, which stink right now, gives me hope to get in the positive and out of the negative.

What exactly did the VIP ever get?

Two pathetic "map packs" that just had slightly reworked versions of the exact same map included in every retail game?

At least the Mass Effect 2 Cerberus network had some worthwhile, quality content in it for the 10 extra bucks of buying it new.

If DICE keeps going this way, they're going to be absolutely crushed by Call of Duty and whatever it is Respawn is working on.

You've obviously never played a Battlefield game before if you think Bad Company 2 has big maps.

Bad Company 2's only decent map is Atacama Desert, which is just a smaller, lamer version of much better maps from earlier games.

And the Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch games....pathetic, tiny maps for pathetic, tiny modes.

8 player games? In a BATTLEFIELD game? What the hell? Play COD if you want 8 players, it has much better controls and is much better balanced for a few players.

Battlefield was about huge battles with interesting and useful vehicles, not a watered down COD hybrid with shitty controls, like BC2.

I think the mode should be free and not cost $10. I probably won't buy it not that I am against the price or anything. I can see them charging $10 for maps but $10 for a new mode? I know EA/Dice want to make money off DLC and I have nothing against them doing so. I wonder how many people will be buying this when it comes out in the next couple of weeks?

I never bought the MW2 maps. Didn't care to spend my time over analyzing the situation either. It's a consumers market. Why is that still so hard for people to understand? There shouldn't be any shock nor disgust any longer. This isn't years ago. This isn't horse armor.

Buy the DLC or don't. Move on.

Be using your free time to ACTUALLY play the games you like instead of complaining.

Resist all urge to engage in anonymous dick slapping competitions over the internet too ... unless you want to be briefed on the definition of poetic justice and to be asked repeatedly how egg on the face tastes.
