Dreamcast Returns on PSN and XBLA this year

"I want to go to the baseball stadium, and then the image gallery"As hinted by the ESRB -- and predicted on our Xbox E3 Bingo card, Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi, two of Sega's standout games for its dearly departed Dreamcast, will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360. But they're just the first Dreamcast titles.

Sega announced that those two games will be available this fall in North America and Europe, calling them the "first two classics" to be released as part of Sega's plan to republish Dreamcast games on PSN and XBLA. The games will include improved resolution, surround sound, and modern amenities like online leaderboards, Achievements, and Trophies.

We're going to spend the rest of the day fantasizing about the release of our favorite Dreamcast games. For example, all of them.

I concur what an excellent way to start off the day. I ask one thing SEGA please give us a revised Alien Front Online. You were going the right direction with it on the Dreamcast. It could kick so much ass on Xbox Live and PSN.

im glad to see this will be on ps3 bc i thought it was just for 360.

i sadly put away my dreamcast a few months ago bc i had no room for it,as well as my gamecube.

That'll be Shenmue then.

Hell yes, hopefully they will release and american version of part two.

With updated controls would be nice!

I hope there's a trophy/achievement for finding the sailors.

And Shenmue 1 while we're at it for those of us who played neither.

And if they release parts 1 and 2, then maybe they will release part 3! Oh wait...=(

YES!!! the music in that game was great!

the presence of some Offspring tracks was what drew me to the game in the first place! definitely hoping that that's kept in with the release.

What would be nice this time is the whole tracks and not short clips of each...

The Wii doesn't meet the memory requirements, unless you can download stuff to SD cards now, and you might be able to I might just be forgetting.

Nintendo supposedly has some pretty stiff limits on the size of the download though. The original rumour was like 40-50MB.

If these are emulated the Wii likely doesn't have the muscle or RAM to pull it off.

Yeah, I would love to have DC games on Virtual Console and all. But it's simply not possible with the storage limitations.

I don't even think they could fit Saturn or Sega CD games on there.

The Wii has plenty of muscle to play Dreamcast games. Hell, 90% of Dreamcast games were ported to Gamecube.

It just doesn't have the storage for them.

I remember when my PS3 games loaded with a cute little chime, oh it was delightful. I still mourn the day they took it away from me...

My copy of Space Channel 5 is scratched. Please, please, please...

Yeah, as much as I LOVED Dreamcast, I hated the disc that the games were burned on. One little itty bitty teeny tiny insignificant scratch on the labeled side of the disc completely renders the game useless.

'All of them' except Soul Fighter and Dragon Riders please.
