Dreamcast Returns on PSN and XBLA this year

"I want to go to the baseball stadium, and then the image gallery"As hinted by the ESRB -- and predicted on our Xbox E3 Bingo card, Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi, two of Sega's standout games for its dearly departed Dreamcast, will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360. But they're just the first Dreamcast titles.

Sega announced that those two games will be available this fall in North America and Europe, calling them the "first two classics" to be released as part of Sega's plan to republish Dreamcast games on PSN and XBLA. The games will include improved resolution, surround sound, and modern amenities like online leaderboards, Achievements, and Trophies.

We're going to spend the rest of the day fantasizing about the release of our favorite Dreamcast games. For example, all of them.

Jet Grind Radio was the best. I played that for hours on end. To this day, I cannot believe how great it was for the time. If that can reproduce the original in identical form, it is a no brainer...

I never got to play Shenmue. And I had a Dreamcast. Twice.

Make that 3 times if you count that one time last week I picke up a DC with 2 controllers, VMU, mic, carrying case, giant arcade stick, and 10 games including MvC1&2, Soul Reaver, and Shenmue Deluxe Edition, all for $40 at a garage sale. Picked it up for a reseller friend though. So it was only mine for about half an hour.

And the Shenmue guide, and that odd Seaman game that the mic was for. So you could talk to the fishpeople. Never played that one either.

Skies of Arcadia! Maybe I can finally play it without having to track down the Gamecube version!

Ha. Coincidence. I just received my original packed DC with a still sealed MSR in the mail today :D By the way: Anyone moaning about the 360's noise probably never owned a Dreamcast or, like me, simply forgot how friggin loud that thing is o.O

The thought of Jet Grind Radio, Powerstone Shenmue & Project Justice possibly coming to XBLA has just caused a trouser malfunction......

And with any luck, the DC version of Shenmue 2 will finally get released, here in North America.

It was nice it was released on the Xbox, but playing it on the Xbox felt like it had the soul sucked out of it.

How about Rayman 2: Good Version? That's one of the best games on the Dreamcast.

Toy Commander and Gundam Side Story 0079. I loved toy commander and I always wanted to play the Gundam game, the only one that I have seen where you actually get a view from the cockpit.

I would be all over this if I didn't already own all the games. But everyone should give them a thumbs up for bringing them to the next gen, and like they always say. Dreamcast never dies nor stops thinking.

Please, for the love of God, release an XBLA version of Toy Commander.

It would be cool if they put out a version of Samba De Amigo for Project Natal and Playstation Move. Samba De Amigo would probably work better than it did with the Dreamcast maracas.

As much as I'd kill for PSO, it just doesn't seem feasible. Dedicated servers, CS, and all the sub fees? If anything, we'd get the offline version, which would be silly.

Are the Blue Burst servers still up? It's unfortunate that PSU was so bad or I'd be no-lifeing it up on that 24/7.

Dreamcast games are cool. I love Crazy Taxi. But I would love to see some Saturn games get some love. Crazy Taxi has seen release on the GameCube, Playstation 2, and GameBoy Advanced. It is time for some true Sega classics like the original Nights, Daytona USA, and Panzer Dragoon Saga to see some new console love.

Anyone who thinks Sonic Adventure is a classic should play it today then play Sonic 3.

Crazy Taxi is a must-buy! That game is ridiculously fun, and for the life of me I cannot seem to figure out why...

Kudos to SEGA if they can redo Shenmue and its sequel in high resolution, surround, and Achievements/Trophies. They can score even more brownie points by adding features and improving the textures and animations!

Come on SEGA - make a software comeback!
