Set to retail for $59.99, the Eagle-Eye is "compatible with all PS3 console versions" and will be "future proof with firmware updates." It's certainly an interesting claim and one we'll definitely get our hands on next week during E3. Until then, these demonstration videos (after the break) will have to sate your curiosity.
Eagle-Eye peripheral adds keyboard support to PS3 FPS games

Most games don't take advantage of the PS3's native ability to support a USB keyboard and mouse, much to the chagrin of those who veer away from the console's regular controller. However, Penguin United wants to capitalize on this shortcoming with its upcoming Eagle-Eye peripheral. Debuting at E3 next week, the Converter offers a key-mapping feature that lets you re-map all the buttons of a PS3 controller to a standard keyboard. According to the company, the Eagle-Eye will offer "1 to 1 translation from a PS3 controller to the mouse."

The only problem is you're still missing typing to chat, but then, that's what headsets are for.

The only real question is how fast the mouselook feature is. Pretty much every PS3 game is written with joypad "mouselook" and there is a finite scroll speed that you get (when the stick is pressed to maximum in one direction). Mouse players, on the other hand, often use the mouse to change their direction much much faster than many games allow; doing a 180-degree turn-around with a mouse can take less than 1/40 sec. If the mouse input ends up being slowed down because of the mapping to stick movements, the mouselook feature ends up looking and feeling laggy and pretty much eliminates the main advantage for these types of products.

Which is why it never makes any sense to me why the mouse and keyboard people are so insistent about using these peripherals with the ps3. MIght as well go shoot fish in a barrel, if those response speeds actually carried over from the PC.

If more PS3 games would just ship with native support for keyboard and mouse, the PS3 would be my platform of choice for shooters. One of the things that I like a lot about console gaming versus PC gaming is the fact that I don't have to muck around with settings, drivers, versions, incompatibility, and the constant need to upgrade hardware in order to stay current with games. I put the disc in and the game just works, and looks great. If only I could control it as well as its PC counterpart...

Speaking for myself, if I were to "try" to play a FPS with a controller, it would just be like shooting fish in a barrel, too - except I would be the fish and the barrel would be the size of a 1-gallon bucket!
I play FPS games on my PC and I'll be in the top tier of any pick-up server. I don't practice enough to beat the guild guys, but I do better than the average Joe.
I've tried playing FPS on my PS3 several times. I actually and honestly ran out of ammo before I could kill another player who was AFK. Yes, I'm really that bad with a controller. My 45 year-old brain just can't get the hang of dual-joystick control.
For me, mouse and keyboard control is the only way I can play these games

this is a clear advantage that was not originally intended. aka a cheat.
how are you suppose to compete online when people can just point and click at your head, instead of having to use a controller.
This will become like wallhacks in CS back in the day. You had to have them just to be on a level playing field.

PU what stinks? ME!!!
Because im playing a FPS with a DS3 Controller while everyone else is using a mouse and keyboard.
Im all for this device as long as it doesnt give one player a advantage over another player using a DS3 or SixAxis.
When i say "advantage" im talking about something other than a players natural skill. Like having mouse/Keyboard players sensitivity being slower or faster than a PS3 controller. A Level playing field. Because hell having PC players wonder over to console ever now and then would help keep some online titles alive much longer

I'm not about one player having advantage over another, and the turbo features threw me off a little too.
That said, it would be great if the product caused the mouse to feel the same as PC, being a long term PC FPS player who now does consoles. Level playing field and controller of choice.

I have a device in a box under my bed, have to go and find it for its name it was blue in colour and did exactly this.. Except setting it up was incredibly cryptic, getting the key bindings right was very difficult had to plug in a controller and get it to configure itself with the controller then plug in keyboard and mouse to get it to work and when it was all set up it was pretty shit, although some sweared by it ....
And I found it in google, http://www.psu.com/news/2478 -- XFPS , absolute utter crap.
Truth is when the PS Move is released it will make mice/keyboard gaming obsolete for all die hard pc mouse/keyboard users and it will definately destroy the current splitfish etc etc mice / keyboard emulators.
