Team Fortress 2 on Mac kicks off with free weekend, 50% off sale

It turns out that Valve's completely opaque hinting yesterday referred to a Mac release of Team Fortress 2! If you have an inclination toward team-based, cartoony/violent FPS action, head over to Steam now and enjoy the newly OSX-compatible game.

Valve has provided some decent motivation to do so quickly, if fun isn't enough: if you play on a Mac before June 14, you'll get some in-game earbuds like the ones sported by the blue "Mac" team in the above video. Oh, and you can also play for free this weekend (through June 13) on both Mac and PC, or pick up a permanent copy of the game for $10. Both of those offers are good through June 13.

i know this is a good sale.

but for those who don't know, the goty version of fallout 3 is on sale on steam.

the game and all 5 dlc for 25 dollars.

also, tf2 is awesome so is valve i love steam!

I'm actually a Windows owner late to the TF2 party, but I downloaded it and love the art style and variety of gameplay!

Gonna buy it on payday tomorrow!

Just got it for my Mac, and got the Fallout GOTY with all dlc.

i actually had fallout before, but i didn't have the dlc.

this works out better than buying the dlc separately.

Hint at the Engineer update?

You noticed that too?

I just assume it's a new engineer primary or secondary from the upcoming Engineer Update.

Engie is weird in that both their weapons are secondary when compared to other classes. But I assume that a shotgun would replace the other shotgun. I wonder if they might do something crazy and make it shoot slugs instead of pellets which obviously spread..

My engie's primary weapon is a machine gun with rocket launcher add-on.

PC players should have faster firerates and reload times, cause more damage, and of course look more badass.
Mac players should have those iEarbuds and run like french soldiers.

GARG! A hat I'll never be able to use! Even if I'd never use it anyway, since I hated those crappy pack-in earbuds on my old iPod. Still... completionist sense going haywire...

I was looking for something to shake up my sessions of Battlefield and Killzone, this is the perfect game for the weekend. had this on PS3 from the orange box, it's too bad they didn't get the updates or the player support (chicken/egg maybe)...

at 9.99 i probably owe it to myself at this point...

Beyond the updates there are countless custom maps, mods, and gametypes that are not in the console version. It's like a whole new game.

You should probably photoshop the "trollface" onto that.

Haha, I love the earbuds idea. Now it will be easier to spot people on Macs, and therefore easier to spot who I want to kill!

Just kidding of course :P PC's and Macs can coexist

@aray48 I'll be wearing them when I play Pyro whether I'm playing on my PC or Mac.

Though Zunes aren't as iconic as the 'white headphones', I think they would have added a nice touch to the "War" - otherwise, it's just the Apple guys vs. Everyone else.

Actually, each of the Red Team should have had something different - a Zune, a Sandisk, an iRiver, etc. Now *that* would be cool.

No, play for free means you don't have to purchase the game at all to play this weekend.

Should actually already be on your games list, or the free weekend doesn't actually start til tomorrow.

If not, try restarting Steam, it does seem the free weekend already started though.
