Patapon-related beta test teased

As tends to happen around this time of year, another countdown site has popped up, this one on the Japanese PlayStation site. It's counting down to the start of a beta test for ... something, with the countdown against a black background, with some thunder noises for ambiance.

Well, not just for ambience. The thunder accompanies a faint lightning effect, which illuminates a faint Patapon-esque scene in the background (above). But why would a new Patapon game need a beta test? What if it featured (gasp) online multiplayer? You'd be all pata pata and your friend would be like pon pon and it would be awesome. We'll find out in around five days!

Multiplayer? :/
I'll be on the Chaka Chaka Pata Pon for now... Hopefully it's not multiplayer-only or I may Pon Pata Pon Pata from it. Can't Pon Pon Chaka Chaka to Pata Pata Pata Pon into a new Patapon game... I'll Pon Pon Pata Pon it for sure!

Here's hoping for an awesome PS3 Patapon game! The PSP games have been awesome, hopefully the PS3 gets some love! :D

Also, the countdown lasts for 5 days and a few hours - June 17th, the time of the SONY E3 conference.

I want Patapon 3 on the PS3 with drum support!

I second that motion

Would be cool, but only if they made a drum set like Donkey Konga's, but with the Patapon drums' design.
Could also support Move, since in-game the drum beats are somewhat translated into movements. They could flesh that out and make specific moves for each drum.

Odd the last Patapon already had multiplayer. This can only be a multiplayer PS3 version.

i'm hoping for patapon 3... ps3 would be nice, but psp would be better since it doesn't have nearly as many amazing upcoming games for it. ps3 does. then again, patapon in HD... ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhh that would be nice.

TBH I wouldn't really like Patapon on the PS3 that much.
It's a much more handheld-suited game.
But if they did make one, I hope it's easier than Patapon 2. I raged at this level when Meden had this catapault and she always died.

Here's hoping it ISN'T a PS3 game. Patapon 1/2 are two of my favorite games ever. If they suddenly switch the sequel to the only console I don't have, that'd suck.

Patapon is purely portable material, I really dont see them making it exclusive for the PS3 at all

It better be! It wold be awesome if you could use sixstring drums. It would probably be hard though.
