Recording artist Drake joins the cast of Gears of War 3

Successful young hip-hop upstart Aubrey Graham -- you may know him as "Drake," the pseudonym he took on upon entering the rap game -- will provide the voice of Jace Stratton, one of the new playable protagonists in Gears of War 3. Rabid fans of the series will likely recognize Stratton as one of the main characters from the comic books. Rabid fans of Degrassi will likely recognize Drake, because that dude was totally on Degrassi.

On the subject of Drake's casting, Epic Executive Producer Rod Fergusson explained, "when we began casting for the role, 'So Far Gone' had just released, and Drake's combination of heart and grit was just what we were looking for." That sounds reasonable enough, though we suspect they might just be setting up the cast for the next next game in the series, Gears of Degrassi: The Next Infestation. You heard it here first, folks.

Seriously? Wow... I like Drake (Thank Me Later was pretty good) but can't really see his voice on Gears of War 3?

This may prove Successful. His days on Degrassi are So Far Gone. I mean, Gears of War's co-op experience was the Best I Ever Had. With that said, I can't believe the trilogy is almost Over.

dude you don't know new school hip hop if you think Drake is the best. He's the most mainstream, that's for sure, but the best? no. I can name at least 5 better than him off the top, J.Cole, Wale, Blu, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi. and trust me, i can go much deeper than that if you want (that's what she said).

I think it's a perfect role for him & it'll really give him some push in terms of voice acting but it will also give the character Jace more of an urban depth that Epic was going for & the fact that he's young means that they need a young talent to show that young fire & I think Drake can provide

I once watched Degrassi on some weekend morning. Saturday or Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed how the black haired nerdy kid pushed his chubby girlfriend-thing over and she fell and hit her head on a rock and then later in that episode or the preview of the next one the nerdy black hair kid kills himself I think.
