An alleged Italian Microsoft ad, originally found on Console Tribe, seems to have revealed a slim Xbox 360 alongside a renamed Project Natal, touting a 250GB HDD, built-in WiFi (it's the future!), and compatibility with "Kinect" -- presumably the new name for Natal. The advertisement leads back to the Italian Microsoft site and the source of the page tells us that Atlas Solutions -- a Microsoft-owned ad company -- pushed the image automatically to the site.
We've checked in with Microsoft to see if the news is legit, but we're not expecting much before tonight's Project Natal Cirque du Soleil "spectacular." In the meantime, you can check out the ad embedded after the break.
Update: The ad we embedded after the break seems to have been pulled, so we've added a video in its place.
I don't care how it looks. If it runs cooler, doesn't have an optical drive that sounds like a jet engine and fans that don't whine constantly, I'm buying it
I have to agree that it does look a bit funny in the picture, but I'll try to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope it's better by waiting until later this week.
@(Unverified) Yep, well at least the trailer we had on PS4 was quite the real thing. http://2su.de/w3x -- Although, I Keep hope for a slimmer version of xbox 360 as well.
@TendoMan You realize that major news like this is potentially reported to Joystiq via dozens/hundreds of tips, right? Joystiq editors are very good about giving credit for reader tips, so if your name isn't mentioned it's because you were one of many (and likely your tip was sent in after the news was discovered on another site first).
I don't think "slim" is what they were going for, as it looks just about the same size. Good to see a drive and wifi included, though. $100 for the wifi and $179 for the HDD was one of the biggest cases of wallet-rape in the video game world we've seen for quite a while.
apart from the 250 GB HDD/built-in WiFi, and using it as a response to ps3 slim - is there really any need for this as a 'new' product? the good 'ol price drop might do the same trick?
It probably will be a price drop, considering how expensive the 250 GB hard drive and WiFi adapter are. It'll presumably ease up on the permanent hardware errors, if they know what's what.
It's not particularly attractive, but it's not terribly ugly either. I'm just not understanding the front panel not being flat, that angle is rather odd.
@BigE4284 Just wait until the full revel tomorrow when they have more pictures of it. Right now it's too hard to tell whether it really is slim or if it will even look like that. That's why it says rumor so here's hoping
I think it the opposite really... I think new form factor means they'll probably muck up the cooling all over again from scratch. Here's to hopin' though.
