Fake or not it looks ugly. Looks like it tried to cross a 360, wii, and PC case all into one.

@(Unverified) Agreed. If this is real, I will buy the current Xbox 360 when stores try to clear them out with sales just to avoid buying this thing.

I don't care how it looks. If it runs cooler, doesn't have an optical drive that sounds like a jet engine and fans that don't whine constantly, I'm buying it

I have to agree that it does look a bit funny in the picture, but I'll try to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope it's better by waiting until later this week.

You realize that major news like this is potentially reported to Joystiq via dozens/hundreds of tips, right? Joystiq editors are very good about giving credit for reader tips, so if your name isn't mentioned it's because you were one of many (and likely your tip was sent in after the news was discovered on another site first).

@DelTrigger as long as it has better cooling and less likely to get red ringed. I'm fine with it.

I don't think "slim" is what they were going for, as it looks just about the same size. Good to see a drive and wifi included, though. $100 for the wifi and $179 for the HDD was one of the biggest cases of wallet-rape in the video game world we've seen for quite a while.

I agree. This looks horrible.

Come on Microsoft. Activision is known for shitting on their own product and selling it as new. Don't go invading their territory.

Built-in WiFi! It's IMPOSSIBLE!

Is this smaller? I can't tell. It sure would be nice if it is.

Judging from the size of the disc tray, yes much smaller.
It wont be compatible with current HDDs it looks like.

Built in WiFi? Bundle with 3 months free XBL and Natal for 299 and we will have a winner.

apart from the 250 GB HDD/built-in WiFi, and using it as a response to ps3 slim - is there really any need for this as a 'new' product? the good 'ol price drop might do the same trick?

It probably will be a price drop, considering how expensive the 250 GB hard drive and WiFi adapter are. It'll presumably ease up on the permanent hardware errors, if they know what's what.

(they probably don't)

Awe, come on guys!

It now seems like you're ACTUALLY supporting the older, clunkier, UMD whore of an older generation of PSP's.

Just because something is actually cool now doesn't mean everyone has to hate it.

I can't tell that that's slim; I'll have to see it next to the original. I'd be tempted with built-in WiFi.

And how exactly do you know the dimensions? It's not next to anything in the ad so you have know way of knowing how tall it is.

well, unless they're using a different size disk slot, we know how big it is by looking at that.

The disk slot is the same size, you can't really change that.

On a completely unrelated note, has anyone tried replying to a reply? I tried twice and it replied to random posts. =/

It's not particularly attractive, but it's not terribly ugly either. I'm just not understanding the front panel not being flat, that angle is rather odd.

just like the ps3 slim... I'm not too eager to switch up systems based on this new look. Not enough for a 200 dollar facelift.

than again maybe it'll run cooler, more quiet, and does have wifi :o
