The Kinect price has remained elusive, even after Microsoft's E3 keynote, but a new GameStop listing predicts a MSRP of $150 for the product itself -- $299 when included with an Arcade console and $399 with an Elite console. Even Kinect Adventures! and Kinect Sports are priced on the retailer's site: $60 each. It's as if a million gamers cringed and were suddenly disinterested.
It's hardly confirmation of Microsoft's intended price point for the device, but the $150 price point (along with the proposed bundle packages) corroborates a rumor we reported on late last month. We've got troops on the ground at Microsoft's post-keynote session and will try to find out what we can. We'll keep you posted.
Update: Microsoft has told us at the Xbox 360 roundtable this afternoon that they don't plan to announce a Kinect price officially this week at E3.

@Shiaoran I'm absolutely flabbergasted that they wouldn't include at least the Sports game with Kinect. For $150, at least give us something to play with!

I'm with you. Any thoughts of at trying kinect are suddenly placed in a box and stuffed into a closet. Nothing I seen so far today pushed me to the point of really caring about it and at that price range its in no way a focus at all.

@(Unverified) Yea I'm an Xbox fan but this is just ridiculous. I mean nothing they shown today was riveting enough to let it be at that price.

It won't be $150 and those games won't be $60.
Gamestop has to put the absolute top price it could be. If they listed those games at say $19.99 and it was revealed they were $29.99 each, anyone who pre-ordered it when it was listed as $19.99 gets it at that price, losing Gamestop money. If someone pre-orders these games at $59.99 and it's later announced the games are $39.99 then those people get that lower price.
Same deal with Kinect.

They couldn't give this piece of crap away for free and make me care. If I were interested in an exercise program, perhaps. But I prefer outside exercise.
I mean, I saw the e3 conference and it shattered all hopes I had for this thing. It still might be cool, but what a way to blow the hype and stall right from the gate.
The racing game seemed cool, but then I realized it was the GAME not the control scheme that made it cool. The control scheme seemed to ruin it.
This tech would only be good in a VR situation, not living room addon.

Holy crap that seems expensive.
It should be bundled with the slim as the price is still $299.

Cmon...lets be honest....if you are a hardcore gamer....you buy everything (I type this as I stare at the STEEL BATTALION in its huge crate box).
It can hardly be worse than the most unsupported system add-on of all time the PS2 Hard Drive....(64DD doesn't count as it wasn't released in the US)....if not for SOCOM that would have been completely worthless.

@GoonieGooGoo I am a hardcore gamer, which is why I make smart gaming decisions. Hardcore gamer does not mean paying whatever the price is set at, that's called a fanboy.

Kinect doesn't seem like that it is made for the hardcore gamer. Most hardcore gamers don't give a crap about this.
After watching today's press conference, Kinect seems like that it is made to attract all of the soccer moms and their kids who have a Wii.

SOCOM and FFXI at least.
Also, I'd call myself a "core" gamer, and I'd rather not buy it. There are so far very few (if any) interesting titles for it and the price is already too high.

We still have yet to see what the official price is and what is bundled......just because something retails at $ 150....A savvy buyer never pays retail....lets be honest.
Also..the definition of a hardcore gamer is malleable thing.....but to me a true hardcore gamer buys everything to play everything. Price is not an obstruction....and reviews are negligble as some of the crappiest games ever made are collectibles due to their crappiness or rarity. One man's crap is one man's treasure.
Granted not everyone has tons of disposable income or can afford everything......which is why no matter how hardcore you are...there is always someone who is going to have more than you unless you are Warren buffett or Bill gates.....
Hell...you gotta have something to aspire to......

He is right......no one will know the price until its officially released....
Microsoft will not price it higher than the MOVE.
As for hardcore gamer......who doesn't envy the person who has that rare item even if it was a flop.
Heck....I still want a VECTREX and a 3DO to add to my video game sytem collection.
My friend has a NEO GEO Cartridge system with those unwieldy mega cartridges and huge joysticks......and I drool whenever I see it.
I also covet another friends mint condition in perfect working order DISCS OF TRON Arcade machine.
So yes....there are the run-of-the-mill hardcore gamers.....and then there are HARDCORE gamers.

So it's as much as a 360 Arcade? I really hope this is just placement pricing. I wouldn't mind spending $100 on the unit by itself, but I'd only spend $150 if it included Dance Central and a Gold subscription.

I fail to understand how charging $400 is aiming at a casual experience. Nintendo had it right with $250, anything over that and I just don't believe the casual market will be jumping in.

@Itchyfinger Plus the Wii came with Wii Sports at launch and is now just $200 with Wii Sports and Sports Resort. $400 without a single game just seems like too much for someone who wants Kinect and wasn't already planning to get a 360 before it was announced.

150 what pesos? From what I've seen so far, it isn't worth 150 US dollars. That Jedi video I just seen proved that.

Yeah, Patcher can predict the future. . . if you just consider the complete opposite of what he is saying. Does anyone even think that an ACTUALLY functioning "Minority Report" like device is going cost even 150 dollars? I mean hell, even in the movie Tom Cruise had to use a device in his freaking hands(http://www.bangkokbiznews.com/2008/09/30/thumb/298834_minoritythumb3bkk.jpg).

Like others here, I'm gonna go with a no on this one.
$50? Heck yeah!
$99? Perhaps, depends on the reviews and how much I feel I'm missing out on part of Fable.
$150? Nope. Not unless it comes with quite a few awesome games, and even then it'll be a tough sell.

$150 is what I expected the device itself to be priced at but the big shocker is if those half baked games they showed are really going to be priced at $60 a pop. That'd be a travesty. Aside from the harmonix dancing games and ubisofts workout game they all looked like $15 downloadable titles. Even the Star Wars games looked janky.

... or less, one assumes. "What, 50 bucks? No damned way! I'm payin' 99 or nothin'!"
And yeah, 99 seems like about as high as they could get away with here, IMO.

Haha, yes, "or less." Considering how mundane the gameplay is for the games that support Kinect,$99 is definitely the most they could charge for this. The technology is impressive, but they can't expect some one to pay as much as $150 for something that's more tech demo than game. They MIGHT be able to sell it for $150 if they can come up with some truly unique and fun implementations, but by the time that happens it sure as hell better have dropped in price.
