I have a question:
Is the reason for making journos wear a white poncho (or previous orange jumpsuits) a way of rigging the demos? What is the likelihood I'll be able to actually play games when I'm not in a white room (the flailing demo shown on here), in an orange jumpsuit (Fallon, etc.) or in a white outfit in a black room (today's event)?

@spin cycle

Natal works in pitch black room, it doesn't rely on visible light or color for tracking.

"I tell you what: If it's Kinect, just nod twice.

Sunday night I promise you you will know what the real name is. "

@Gandalf the Grey My response here is in the wrong spot. It's not my fault either, I checked before I posted. Sorry for the confusion though, joystiq guys need to get their stuff in order.

Dear Aaron..you got yourself millions of eyeballs exposure in Parade to the casual crowd....UNDER THE NAME NATAL....you've just wasted alot of free buzz.

Nice skirting the 'core' gamer issue...but MS has already addressed this earlier this year...Natal is for casual audiences and not the core...so why don't you just say it too Aaron.

If this had been posted yesterday it would have been clear that Kinect was it since he said he had not heard that name, even though it was trademarked back in April.

@HTCEVO And strangely enough, it has zero backwards compatibility with the Wii and yet is compatible with Xbox games. Who would have thought!?

I appreciate the effort Mr. Grant, but it seems like Greenberg never has anything interesting to say. You ask a question, he dances around it like a magical PR pixie, you try again, and he shuts you down. Rinse and repeat.

That's too much to read at the moment. However, if it's anything like the John R. interview, I will be sending my two erect thumbs in the mail.

It's funny how he has to deny everything when it's plastered all over the internet. It's must be hard working for a company & having to do that.

Normally, interviews that I read about the gaming industry are bad. They don't ask very good questions and they get PR answers.

The questions asked here were pretty good. It wasn't just "Are you happy with X?"

Just a pity that even with good questions, Greenberg still gives generic answers.

I hate the way these people talk about this technology. It can't possible do what it claims. Its not for the "core" audience bullcrap

I don't see why people would be upset that he's dodging the questions; Microsoft is on the eve of a major reveal.

I gave up reading part way through. Anyone care to tell me if he actually answers any questions that matter or does he spend the whole time skirting around things?

Yea, it seems to be on the eve of E3, Microsoft is the only company trying to keep it in their pants (and failing, USA Today...go to your room). I mean, c'mon Sony, have you no shame? it seems every hour they're dropping a new trailer or new announcement or new game that could have easily waited until their press conference.

I hate how all of the new motion technology always has an extremely superficial game lineup. None of these games have any deep or interesting story at all. As a gamer who enjoys these "deep" experiences, making games that have no story, or even a progression of levels, doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I really like the idea of having motion controls in games, I just don't want the games to be oversimplified in the process.

How PS3 does online gaming right now:
"The way the original platform was designed, a lot of the Xbox Live functionality was hard-coded into the games."

Thankfully, our consoles have such strong software support that this can change in the same console life cycle. Hopefully, Sony will upgrade their PSN standards and infrastructure.

The names are both bad, but the whole 'Kin' title will be a big part of Microsoft now I guess.

So Greenberg pretty much confirmed that Kinect will only be for casual gamers. So much for being inclusive...

Looks like PS Move has the upper hand. LBP, Socom 4, Uncharted 2, Tiger Woods 11, RE 5, etc. are all core games that support the PS Move.

Not to mention the Wii has Tatsunoko vs Capcom, No More Heroes 1 and 2, Conduit 1 and 2, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Zelda: Twilight Princess and Zelda Wii, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Metroid Other M, Monster Hunter 3/Tri, Tiger Woods 11, etc.
