Yeah. From what I understand you either had to wear to LED Future Space Ponch, or you got kicked out.

Well, this is going to air on MTV, Nickelodeon, and a bunch of other channels on Tuesday, so that's probably what this is for.

Just thinking about how much all this must've cost. Cirque du Soleil costs like $200 a seat, normally. Plus the lighting and all the props and sets for this event. Plus renting the venue. Paying all the actors involved. AND paying for 30 minute commercial-free spots on a number of networks.

This event must have cost Microsoft at least $10,000,000, in my opinion.

D-Toid's was pure unadulterated rage.

Bombcast was like outright fear and mind boggle over the whole event especially the way they described it..

@Peter Moore: I've also been wondering how much this event cost Microsoft. With your assumed cost of $10,000,000, I'm not going to be very happy if they announce Kinect at some ridiculous price.... If they do, I'm going to fee like I'm paying in part for some circus event that happened twice that I never got to see.

Fair enough, but a new console and a new thing you can buy for your old console aren't completely comparable. There's already a camera for the 360, after all.

Give it up dude. It's exactly the same thing. The fact that awareness is low is exactly why they can change the name. Not many people are going to notice. The inevitable giant marketing campaign is going to make sure that people are well aware of the name Kinect.

Oh yeah, you're definitely right in that it's the same in principle, but just by virtue of being a peripheral it's going to get less media attention than a new console would. Then again, you're also right that they haven't started marketing it to the masses yet, so maybe it really doesn't matter.

Not to mention, they changed the name of Revolution to Wii BEFORE they started marketing.... we all knew because we're vultures for video game information. But Microsoft has actually been throwing Natal around everywhere... Jimmy Fallon, Parade Magazine, etc...

I agree it seems a little poorly timed.

I want Natal/Kinect more than anything, heck I will buy two, but I think it is absolutely wrong to use game journalists unwittingly for a commercial. When you require journalists to dress up a certain way and don't explain to them what they are being used for I think you are crossing a line.

I do not think journalists should have been part of the spectacle. There should have been an area for them to observe. Journalists should have been limited to a select few from mainstream media. It's unclear to me how much of this performance or tomorrow nights encore will be used in the MTV/Nick 30-minute commercial on Tuesday. I hope that MS will choose to use footage from tomorrow nights encore performance rather than use Sunday nights journalists as props for their commercial.

Sounds like a bunch of arty farty crap. I like the idea of having a family standing on stage (or actors playing a family) but requiring ponchos for the audience is a little much. Having the dad explain the games but not really understand them and his son and/or daughter help with the technical details would have been better. Plus, it would have been audience appropriate and hilarious. I also think it's a little much as well to make it 'technology free.' But that's probably for the protection and safety of Cirque du Soleil performers.

Why can't Microsoft keep it simple I don't know. I guess I'll wait until I see it before I pass judgment, but like everything else with Cirque du Soleil, they're cool and you're not because it's so 'deep.'

Well, I for one have no idea what this "Cirque du Soleil" is, but Natal, sorry, Kinect isn't what I'd thought it'd be. I thought it would be a tool to play games without a motion controller, of course those games would have to be made or patched with Kinect in mind.
However it seems that this is just an excuse to rival the ps Eye toy and parts of the wii. For business, it's a great idea, hoping the price isn't as excessive as the 120gb hdd's were. I've never liked Xbox being more of a family console, but unfortunately microsoft are making it that way, which is sad to me because I'd prefer them to focus on pushing games and increasing it's potential

@(Unverified) Reallly? Because there is NO WAY that MS could possibly make the console (gasp...) both!

They have no intentions of giving up on the bread and butter of their "hardcore" titles. That's why they have multiple events, to emphasize that the 360 is still for gamers, but opening up more to family experiences.
