Microsoft has officially revealed a new Xbox 360 (the same one we already saw in that Italian ad) with a 250GB HDD, built-in Wi-Fi, a shiny new coat of glossy black paint, and, insanely enough, it's shipping to retailers right now. Attendees of today's presser got free ones, so you can expect us to be giving away as many as we can, as soon as we can. It seems Ben Heck was pretty much on the money when he walked us through the alleged Slim motherboard in March.
Update: Elsewhere on Joystiq, you'll find the first technical details on the new hardware.

@mikeymilkshake Joystiq, you might want to get rid of the "SLIM" out of the new xbox because they never mentioned it as SLIM. It's a redesign. and this is both hurting Sony and Microsoft.

@mikeymilkshake Sorry Mikey, Can I hijak your post? Thanks.
Some details:
The rear of the console now has optical out, and a weird aux port (Next to the ethernet port), likely related to Kinect.
Front USB Ports are a go. Flap in the front of the console reveals these.
Hard drive is accessed via a flap in the bottom of the console. These are replaceable. Next hard drive looks different to new ones, so obviously won't be backward compat.
Power supply is now confirmed to be within the console, rather than an external powerblock.
Elite and arcade both drop in price as a consequence of this launch.

@Hoxnr The shininess isn't a good thing though. The white matte of the 360 was good because it didn't collect dust and fingerprint and scratches like the PS3 does. But now the answer to everything is BLACK. MORE BLACK.
How much more black can we make this? The answer is none. None more black.

Definitely liked the "slim" hiding in the original.

I liked the matte black of the elite. Shiny black means fingerprints and I don't need that.

I'm grateful there's more on the back. I've kept my HD-DVD attachment purely as a USB hub.
But, right next to the ethernet jack, is that a firewire port I see?
And built-in digital audio? Thank god!

Yah looks like it, unless they have more usb slots now.
On another note are there any memory card slots?

from top..
3 USB
USB (with higher power output) and ethernet - hopefully gigabit
Component/audio adapter like on old 360 cables, HDMI port, hopefully 1.3 so it turns on your TV like the PS3 does
Optical port for audio
power port

@Joeybeast That was pretty generous of them. I guess they owe it to us after that lame 2/3rds of the conference, with the exception of Star Wars breaking up the monstrosity of shovelware and cheap acting.

@xkaosu9x -
On second glance at the low res screenshot, I do see a mystery port underneath the Ethernet port.
E-Sata wouldn't make much sense though. They don't allow third party HDD's (unless they plan to market their own...which would be bizarre)

I See the one your talking about - next to the Ethernet connector right? I would think that would be for Kinect, but could be wrong...

Out this week even?!? Wow, definitely going to have to try and pick one up, though I'll probably wait until Octoberish when Rock Band 3 and Fable III are out. If Summer of Arcade turns out some hot titles I'll definitely jump on it sooner though, can't afford to miss out again.
