THQ announces two new WWE games
14
As today's E3 festivities kicked off, THQ slipped in a pair of its own announcements: Its catalog of titles based on the world's oldest sport, by which of course we mean professional wrestling, is expanding by a factor of two in the near future. First, WWE All Stars will pit legendary wrestlers against one another. Just imagine: Diamondface vs. Mr. Grabs: The Man With No Fear. We just made those two wrestlers up, of course, because THQ hasn't actually named any specific fighters included in the game, nor do we know enough about the sport to identify the wrestlers in the image above. Aren't you impressed?
The second game is WWE SmackDown vs. Raw Online, a free-to-play PC wrastlin' title with microtransaction support that's being created by Seoul-based developer Vertigo Games. The game is slated to drop in Korea in early 2011 -- no North American release plans have been announced. Hey, come on, THQ! We like wrestling, too! (Well, some of us do.)

I am looking forward to them revealing more about All Stars and SvR 2011 than they did a few days ago. 2011 with even better physics for the tables and objects, I can't wait!

all stars is too geared toward kids for my taste. 2011 should be good. all depends on the roster for me. They need to include some more legends.

@OnlyBMD i disagree imo. hopefully thq ditches the ps2, which i think they are, and utilize both ps3 and 360 to they're full potential. revamped graphics, new engine, alot of alternate outfits and a MASSIVE roster. New fighters and old. I would much rather see some legends (beniot, savage, andre the giant...) then put the whole nxt roster on.

Highly doubt you will ever... ever see Benoit in another game due to what he did a few years ago. Like I said, if we are able to import the Legends from All Stars, and have them focus on who is out there now and finally give us people like Hart Dynasty, I'll be happy. Never really used Stone Cold or Rock last game.

i understand. YEah, beniot is a bit too opimistic. but there is still a huge market for stone cold, the rock, mankind...they sell and i love them. I think all stars art style wouldn't mix well with svr. plus i for one wouldn't drop 120 dollars on just getting some legends in my game.

Unless they announce that Smack Down vs Raw uses a new game engine, I have zero interest. They have been using the same game engine since PS2, and the graphics look like crap. They need to stop being lazy and rework the game from the ground up to take advantage of the current gen consoles.

@(Unverified) agreed. not fluid enough with this engine. needs to capture the intensity and awe of a pay per view. good sound quality would be a nice add along with better graphics/gameplay. I really want to hear orton slam on the ring when he gets charged up for an rko.

Have to agree I played every single Smackdown! game since the PS1 days and all of them just use the same engine and update the graphics and have minor changes to the gameplay and different ways you can play like new modes. I rented SD! 2010 and was disappointed in the graphics for PS3 looked like a port of the PS2 version. I am hoping the roster is good but if the engine is just the same then no dice.

If it's a good game, I might get it. I've always liked good wrestling games... and the classic wrestlers, depending on the roster, would really bring me back to my youth.

Last wrestling game I bought was the first Smackdown game for Playstation and WWE Attitude before that. The games since then just haven't captured my attention the ways those others did. However I love the way WWE All-Stars looks - very Brink-like. Gimme the option to create a character with those graphics and you've got me.
