So it does need a Playstation eye. Well add all that together and you are close to what MS is charging for theirs. They should offer a bundle that includes the camera for $99.

@inspiredEpic.

If Microsoft's offering is $150, then the Playstation Move will be cheaper no?

Also, we have no idea what Microsoft's pricing will be. What if it's $149 for the peripheral by itself without games?

Can't speculate on this until we actually know the details. Microsoft didn't reveal pricing for a reason after all.

Thats $80 per person.

So what i understand is a 4 player split screen playstaion move game will cost

Playstation Eye $39.99
Move controler $49.99 each (159.96 for four)
Navgation controler $29.99 each (119.96 for four)
Game $59.99

Total for four peple to play a motion game (not in 3D) 379.90 + tax

I picked up the eye of judgement pack that came with teh camera a year ago on clearance for $12 because I knew Move used it. But $80 for the complete control which you need both parts? The most I'm willing to pay is $60 per person. They need to bundle that and drop the price with no game.

BTW, I think the wii controller is $60 w/ nunchuk? This is obviously better. Do the current wiimote's come with motionplus? If not that is another $15. Anyone confirm, because then that is close to this move controller? Also, I think one camera covers all players. Maybe the $80 is justifiable when you compare to the wii which is inferior BUT I still am not crazy about paying more than $60 for A CONTROLLER. Weren't PS1 controllers about $30? Not that sounds reasonable. The good ol days...

The cost won't be that high due to the PS3 only supporting 7 bluetooth devices at once. This was covered awhile ago, so the most you'll see is 2 players with 2 controllers each, or 4 players with 1 each. I know the costs still add up as I just got a Wii last week, but I certainly won't mind paying because there will be excellent content to play.

P.S. Joystiq: comment system still needs work

@L0sther0 no thats not how it works..

If you want the camera and a game bundle then its $100 for the camera , game and move controller.

$30 for the camera on its own..

$30 for the nav controller, which only games like socom will need

$50 for the move controller on its own.

Move Party which is the only 4 player game shown so far, only requires 1 move controller.. Each person takes turns.. so thats a grand total of $50

at most your looking at 4 move controllers, 1 nav controller and the ps eye , thats $260 dollars..

People are forgetting that some games will require you have 2 move controllers to play. The archery game, the boxing/fighting game and pretty sure the sword fighting one needs one for the sword and shield.
Sorry Sony but now that I've had a good think about it I'll be buying Kinect

well i don't know about you guys but when i buy controllers, i buy 2 and my friends bring theirs when they come over. i already have a PSEye, so i'm looking at $160. still more than Kinect's rumored price but not the crazy amount you guys are talking about. i have never in my life bought controllers for all my friends, yet we all get to play whenever they come over. imagine that.....

They can probably justify a higher cost since they can support 4 players at once without extra controllers.

And then some games need 2 move controllers for one game.
Price for one person to play all available games = 160$ if you buy everything new, not including the game. Awesome, Right? :)

It was funny listening to the crowd react to this..

Tretton: And the move controller will launch at $49.99
crowd: (wild applause)
Tretton: ...with the auxilliary controller an additional $29.99
crowd: (mumbles) oh yeah we forgot about that thing.

Serioiusly at 80 bucks per player, even with only two players it already costs more than pretty much the highest natal estimate ($150). Heaven forbid you want to play with 4 players....

Thank you for this comment! I was starting to think that people on the internet could not do math after yesterdays rumor of a $150 Kinect. People forget that Kinect will support multiple players right out of the box. Even if you do the $99 Move bundle and one extra controller (with out the sub) you are right at $150.

@Vcize but thats not how it works.. the Nav controller is only needed for games like Socom 4 -- no 4player game will need that controller..

To play with move games you only need to spend $50 -- to play with kinect you still need to pay whatever the asking price.. I dont have to spend more than $50 to play the majority of move enabled games.. Thats the difference..

McDuckScrooged:

At that point, you have to split the Move library into two categories: games you can play with your setup and games you can't.

I don't know about you, but when I buy hardware, I don't want to filter my choice of available games.

If it is going to cost $50 for one main controller, $30 for the sub controller that the real games will use. And then another what $30 for the Eye peripheral then we're looking at $110 for one person to play. Add anotehr $80 for a second set of controllers and we're looking at close to $200 before tax. And here I thought $150 for Kinect was way too expensive... Now I'm just hoping Kinect doesn't go over $100 and the reason they didn't announce a price was so they could wait until Sony announced theirs. It looks like I won't be getting in on this Motion control stuff this year. I'll save my money for some good games I guess. What a shame :-)

I would really only be buying one of these, so I don't think $130 for the eye camera, controller, sub controller and game is that bad. But i still need some good games to justify the purchase. I will probably wait for the Sorcery game to see if that's any good and that's when I'd be most likely to buy.

Honestly how many of you play your 360 or PS3 with 4 people, simultaneously? If you do I'm amazed but for the most part I don't and neither do most other people I know. I'd say 80% of my time is with myself, 18% with me and another person playing Co-op or split screen and the other 2% with 3 or more people playing at once. So the price to me seems not so bad, especially considering I have a PSeye already. I think getting two standard Move controllers plus one sub controller will be plenty to suffice any of almost anyone's needs. If I'm wrong please do tell me how many of you play with this many people at once. Not on a Wii either.

Even just for 1 person a complete Move kit (Camera, Controller, "Nunchuck") is going for $130.

And it is still so much more limited than Kinect. It can't "see" you, it can only track a ball.

I agree.

At most I'll buy 2 of these controllers, and eh, I'll probably pick up the second pack on special. Seems like a pretty good deal.

Of course I'll wait a little while to see how the support goes and how many games will have this feature, but so far there are many more games I'd play with the Move than with Natal. I already have a Wii so don't need Natal. :\

@(Unverified) Uh, I hate to break it to you, but when you buy something you buy it up front for full cost, not dependent on how much you're going to use it.

If you only play with 4 people 2% of the time, you still need 4 controllers to do it, and it costs you the same as someone who plays with 4 people 100% of the time.

The biggest draw to these motion control thingamabobs is having something fun to do when a bunch of people that aren't necessarily gamers come over, and if you don't have enough controllers for them to play that's kind of worthless.
