I feel that the Assassin's Creed series doesn't need multiplayer.

I wonder if this game will have a half-assed story...

@Prinnywithascarf The game is gunna have a deep story-line. This is gunna be the game that will bridge the gap between Assassins Creed 2 and Assassins Creed 3 (when it releases whenever).

@Prinnywithascarf I agreed, focus on a good SP or even co-op campaign... screw the MP VS stuff.

Yeah, and screw these people for trying something new when it didn't need to be done. That's the kind of shit that gets us Modern Warfare and Gears of War and Bulletstorm. Just stick to what you're already doing developers. We don't need all this fancy new gameplay!

Sweet! Another possible good 3rd person MP. I was pleasantly surprised by Red Dead's mulitplayer, maybe this one will stack up as well

They're buying it (pre-ordering it, natch) at Gamestop, also known as the other Uncle Scrooge of the gaming industry.

There is not a reason in this world why you shouldn't.

@ShadowXOR YES! The Ship was the first thing I thought of as well. This certainly has me more interested than the coop that was teased in the trailer.

@(Unverified) I was thinking the same thing! The multiplayer is essentially a pretty version of the iphone game. That's not a bad thing I guess, the iphone game is fun.

Wow, this WAS the multiplayer gamemode Ubisoft had for Splinter Cell Conviction back when Sam Fisher was a hobo... you were supposed to blend in with NPCs while your opponent did the same, and try to pick each other out in the crowd... I guess they thought Assassin's Creed was more fitting after they scrapped the Hobo Sam idea.

I'm excited to see the other game modes. I like this "cat-and-mouse" game mode, but i wonder what else we'll see for the multiplayer.

I'm looking to see stuff like this:
. Treasure Hunt (Sorta like capture the flag)
. Leonardo's Flying machine dog fights (anyone?) lol
. Defend your villa (A tower defense multiplayer mode against real soldiers and AI)

What do you think?

i really like the capture the flag idea. i can just imagine the chases to recapture flags. seems perfect.

not sure about the other ones though. the flying machine was kinda clunky and im really not sure how the tower defense would work.

but i sure hope their team is thinking of new ideas like you are!

"While the premise is excellent, it's hard to see how the game will hold up over time."

You know though, maybe this is okay. We already know that most multiplayer experiences aren't strong enough to play for months or years. Out of every 10 FPS games released, how many maintain any level of a following with their standard deathmatch, CTF, etc.

Having an original mode, even if it wears thin after a couple of weeks could make for a fun distraction during that time. And really, isn't that why we play games anyway?

Song is We Want War by These New Puritans, if anyone cares/doesn't know already.

I wonder if Shazam has a browser plugin...that would actually be really useful. Then I wouldn't have to whip out my phone, and posts such as this would be irrelevant.

Were they demoing it on PS3 or 360? And how did it run? Screen tearing like AC2?

@SolidSnakeEyes, the single player demo was on ps3 and they announced the multiplayer beta for just the ps3 so i would guess the would be showing it off on ps3 too.

I'm interested. I don't think I'll pay full price for a multiplayer-centric Assassin's Creed game, though. Not why I like the series, no matter how fun it is.

That's a huge surprise to me, and great news! By all of yesterdays demos do you mean all Brotherhood demos? The PS3 version of AC2 had realllly bad screen tearing at all times.

I've yet to really see why this is a full game... seems like an expansion or just a reason to get people to buy something. There needs to be a bit more justification or a lower price point.

@faceturd It's a full game because it has a complete single player game plus the online mode, like Uncharted 2. Why wouldn't it be a full game, it's more than an expansion, a lower price point is not justified.

I hear it, but I don't believe it. I would be psyched for just the continuation of the story, but it seems like this is about MP... and happens to have a single player attachment. I'm not against it, but still don't quite understand what it is they are trying to sell us.

It's a complete single player continuation of the story, Ezio in Rome. Rome is 4x the size of Venice in AC2.

Maybe this will clarify what I haven't been able to get across.... is this Assassin's Creed 3? Or is it a 2.5?

It's a full game that continues the events of AC2, who cares what it's called? It's not considered 3 or it'd be called 3. I give up, you apparently aren't listening to what I'm saying.

Well it pretty much is an ultra-beefed-up version of Assassin's Creed: Multiplayer for the iPhone, wich is an AWESOME concept on a poor platform.

I wonder if there's a way to counteract kill trains while still having cool kill animations.

But either way: I'm all for new multiplayer experiences. Or if not completely new, then at least less common than the usual suspects.

Perhaps playing out the animation, then having the victorious assassin disappear in a puff of smoke, giving them 5 seconds of invisibility to escape back into the crowd. Getting a kill therefore calls attention to yourself but doesn't leave you stupidly vulnerable.

i really really like how this sounds. the kill queue seems to be an issue, but otherwise it sounds like very fun cat and mouse. a very different experience than other multiplayer. i hope they come up with more abilities than sprint and disguise to add a bit more depth, but overall this has me really excited!
