Well I'm surprised that they allowed you to customize the pace of it. I'm not surprised there's a Firefight mode. Either way Halo's became a pretty massive game...

I got downvoted for being in the same boat? No one on my friends list had the game, so to solo firefight was my only option.. think 140,000 would have been my best attempt, I'm not too good at meta game from Halo 3 either, I killed twice as many enemies then my mate, yet he got more points..

and duelling a brute or 2 with a hammer in firefight is tense.. but I'll be glad when the superior Elites are back...

i hope they add english dialog for the grunts for firefight, at least. they could make some hilarious dialogue for when you turn off aggression for the grunts: "will you friend me on facebook?" "me and the guys were gonna hit the food nipple and then play cards. wanna come?"

I love the customization they offer in their gametypes. Firefight will be a lot more interesting with the aggressive/passive options, should be a lot of fun :)

Side note: Grunt Birthday Party skull just reached a whole new level of entertainment.

@KlassiK seriously. the stuff people have come up with in Halo 3 with Forge is crazy. one of my favorites is a Jenga game: there are two towers over the cliff in standoff, and one person on the ground uses man-cannons to launch stuff at the towers to try and destroy them and knock people off. it's tons of fun. it's in my file share if you want to check it out (it's a map and gametype).

Custom Firefight? YESSSS! Bungie, you really do love us huh? I'm so glad they're bringing the unmatched customization of Halo's gametypes to Firefight. ODST so desperately needed it, and now we're gonna get it. I could not be happier, so thank you for that.

All we need is some matchmaking so we can grab some randoms online if we're down a man. That would be sweet.

It would be nice to have a custom game browser of some sort, or a good way to narrow down what kind of custom games you want to play, then have it pick one for you based on that criteria.

But... that's what the interbutts is for. Find yourself a nice Halo community, set up some matches in advance, and create some new friends. :)

Looks like ODST isnt on my future buy list, wait for REACH to get to about $30/$40 is. :P

I love horde/firefight modes. Just so much fun teaming with people, then taking on waves of enemies.

Cool. Glad to know they're spending their time on making firefight modes instead of making their game playable competitively.

Bungie used to be one of my favorite developers, but ever since Halo 3 they've almost completely turned their back on the competitive fan base.

You have heard of the Arena in Reach, right? The part of multiplayer designed for the competitive fanbase?

Thanks swajus, for your psychiatric evaluation of my feelings towards Halo. Hypothetically speaking, even if you're correct in assuming that I'm selfish and immature, and that I think I am the god of Halo, that doesn't make my opinions any less valid. My points are just as relevant either way.

Yes, I know exactly what Arena is. It's barely a step up from other matchmaking playlists. The only thing that is different about Arena is they remove Armor Lock and the Active Camo loadout, and make DMR starts more frequent. Which is a nice feature, but unfortunately it doesn't it doesn't correct broken or poor gameplay mechanics.

Secondly, I actually have a huge love for casual fun gameplay. I was a huge advocate of Rocket Race and stuff like that. Competitive gameplay is not the only thing I'm concerned with. However, it is huge concern. Competitive gameplay is a huge aspect of the game, and is absolutely crucial to the longevity of any game.

Bungie is almost completely disregarding the competitive fanbase. They had plenty of positive feedback from the first two games, both from the casual audience and the competitive audience, but they chose to ignore almost all the competitive fanbase when making Halo 3. They then received a tremendous amount of negative feedback from angry competitive players, but rather than choosing to own up to their mistakes and fix their game, they have instead opted to continue to ignore one of the biggest groups of players in the game.

Anyone else think that there might be two-sided matchmaking within Firefight, similar to Left 4 Dead multiplayer where you have the survivors and then enemy players spawn as special infected? In other words, enemy players could spawn as an Elite at different intervals, making Firefight that much more difficult.

This, and the possibility of adding objectives within Firefight makes me think of the Invasion game type, but on a larger scale. Have both a strictly player-based/limited Invasion mode like int he Beta, but then also have a Firefight Invasion mode as well with players and AI.

I'm lso hoping that the Generator Defense game type makes its way into the general matchmaking playlists, as that was a lot of fun.

Still can't figure out why Bungie also added air strikes to Firefight though...they really need to stop trying to create this Halo/Modern Warfare hybrid.
