My god. That would be terrific. Run around and scan your entire home using the 3D camera effect on the back, then the game throws treasures and monsters all over your augmented reality house. I would then love to see the game recognize my own hand reaching past the 3DS, the cameras capturing my hand as i literally flick the augmented reality Pikmin at their enemies and treasures around my house. Maybe it could add in real-life house pets as enemies. :O

Excuse me while i change my pants. I loved these pants :(

Wait.. it kind of ended suddenly. Where's the part where you talk about a Mario Kart track editor? That sounds badass!

To those who didnt see it, in the first paragraph Joystiq said the interview also involved a Mario Kart track editor.

But it seems they've removed that from the paragraph, without even a notification. Lame Joystiq.. lame. :(

Hmm... were they asked to remove it by Joystiq?

Interesting...

DSi/DSIXL is for suckers. Or, more realistically, idiotic fanboys who love taking it up the ass.

I told you people when it came out but you insisted a DS with a camera duct taped = NEXT GENERATION DS!!!!!

How's it feel idiots?

"...but how we're separating it from the Zelda series."

This kind of scares me. I hope he means they're just changing it up a bit and not that this is some kind of off-shoot series.

Otherwise, great interview, and after reading about why they went with the slightly more cartoony look this time, it makes sense. Looking forward to more info in the future!

The Zelda series could use some freshening up, though. From what I remember of Twilight Princess, all of the puzzles and bosses were relatively simple and straightforward since they've all been done many times before.

There is an UNOFFICIAL Mario level editor you can download on a PC, called Mario Builder. It's pretty packed with content, with sprites and backgrounds from all the 2D Mario games.

I'd love to know if this new Zelda game will finally feature actual speech/voice work instead of text bubbles. In the past, Miyamoto has said that in order for the gamer to imerse themselves into a Zelda game, Link can't have a voice, because it might be different from what the gamer thinks it should sound like (I'm paraphrasing, but that's how I remember he said it.) Problem with that is Link never speaks anyway, so theres no reason the rest of the Zelda world can't speak. Every text bubble I had to read in Twilight Princess annoyed me, because it took me out of the game. It broke the flow of the action and excitement.

I suppose a good example of Nintendo breaking from their "norm" was Metroid Prime 3, which featured a fair amount of voice work, and it just helped enhance the whole cinematic feel to the game. Metroid Prime 3 is easily the best game on the Wii, and I feel part of that is the amount of work that went into the games presentation, including the voice work. This new Zelda could claim the top Wii game spot, if it pulled all stops and fixed this one weakness that occured in Twilight Princess.

Don't get me wrong, I'm buying this new Zelda game, day one and I'll love it, I'll just love it a little bit less everytime I'm forced to read another stupid text bubble.

I don't like to seem whiny, especially after Nintendo's triple-A showing this year, but I am a little bit concerned about the lack of major new IPs. All their new games this gen have been either casual games or quirky, small-scale titles (mostly by second or third-party developers). I understand why they focused on classic franchises this year - they want to bring back the fans who may have drifted away from them this generation, and to appease fans of series such as Kirby and Donkey Kong who are disappointed that they haven't seen a new entry in such a long time. But I hope they're planning to introduce major new IPs down the road, like they did with Pikmin almost a decade ago. Maybe if the 3DS is successful enough with "core" gamers (and it almost certainly looks like it will be) they'll be able to do that in the not-too-distant future.

Xeno Blade and The Last story seem pretty big (specially with mistwalker behind the latter).

I also like that they are pushing Golden Sun, it's a great franchise that needs more love. I would also like to see more Baten Kaitos games (since they bought monolith, maybe they could do that after Xeno Blade)

The awesomeness of EBA already leaps off the screen on a normal DS. A 3D version would probably bend time around itself

It looks amazing. But It mostly seems like the 3DS is taking a close take on bigger games like the PSP did around It's launch. I wanna see new experiences like I did on the DS. Because at the moment all I see is remakes and ports. And I can't see how most of the games they showed off so far aside from a few will have good pick up and play aspects like DS games. I guess Nintendo's attitude changed? Or we'll have to wait a bit longer to see what the 3Ds cooks up. Looks good regardless.
