The music in Dexter is amazing. In fact that is one of the best shows I have EVER seen.
This news has got me excited.

I just hope if they use the Move that we get to use it as a flash light like in that tech demo from E3 2009

@tenacioustoaster

I agree, the premise seems okay and the music in Dexter is amazing.
This game actually has potential.

I wonder if they'll copy the icy Silent Hill from Shattered Memories? Glad to see a new game but I'll miss Akira.

Also, I hope Climax get to make another Wii game or even a 3DS game.

@WPstart Totally agree. Climax, with Shattered Memories, were the only developer to do something genuinely new and innovative with the series, to realize its strengths and hone in on them. They don't just deserve, but NEED the opportunity to expand upon the myriad of promising ideas introduced in Shattered Memories. I'm not going to judge this game entirely before I know more about it, but I fear that it'll be another attempt to emulate the "old" SH games rather than move the series forward, keeping the franchise stuck in the mire of trying to appease Silent Hill fans (who, as you can see ON THIS VERY PAGE, are incessantly unpleasable). Since Konami seems to be putting Silent Hill on an Activision-like development schedule, I'm hoping that the next title will be developed by Climax again, and in the same mold as SM.

Silent Hill 8? It wouldn't even be Silent Hill SEVEN, yet alone EIGHT.

There's Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4: The Room, Silent Hill Homecoming (commonly referred to as SH5), and Silent Hill Origins (typically considered SH0). Shattered Memories is a re-imaging of the original, so it's not part of the main series--at least in my opinon. Play Novel doesn't even count, as most people don't know it exists. Arcade is in the same boat as Play Novel. If anything, this is Silent Hill 6.

@Jawnuhthun Orphan and The Escape aren't part of the main series either, since I seemed to have left them out.

@Jawnuhthun "Silent Hill · 2 · 3 · 4: The Room · Origins · Homecoming · Shattered Memories" Are all considered the main series. Or so I am told/read.

I think they go by how many games are in the "main series" and not how they are numbered.

@Jawnuhthun It's the eighth Silent Hill console title. It's Silent Hill 8. Don't be a nitpicking fanboy.

It's not that I have a problem with it, I was just curious as to why they'd go with "8", and my question was answered.

"Nitpicking fanboy" or not, I was just expressing an opinion and my curiosity.

@Jawnuhthun
It's just a working title...nothing to fret about yet ;-)
I still have yet to finish Homecoming or Shattered Memories so I don't know how I feel about this new one. I'll always be a Silent Hill fan and I'll always be curious about new titles in the series but I feel that the franchise isn't what it once was and it's lost that mystique. But I'll see what this new studio brings to the table. :-/

Silent Hill: 0rigins
Silent Hill
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Silent Hill Homecoming
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Unless the cell phone and arcade debuts of the series count, 8 should NOT be considered yet. This ain't Zombi, dammit!

I had to look that up... they're counting "The Silent Hill Collection" for PS2 I guess. It contains Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill 4: The Room

So they're counting a collection and not Shattered Memories?

Odd.

Silent Hill 8, as they're calling it now, will put players in the role of prison escapee Murphy Pendleton. After a prison transport crashes, Pendleton finds himself stranded in the unpleasant little town of Silent Hill. Expect "mind-bending puzzles," "horrific creatures" and other terrors. The combat seems to have an emphasis on using everyday objects, like glass bottles and wooden chairs, for survival.

No Akira? That's very disappointing. Like I thought, though, this does not ruin Silent Hill for me. I'm willing to give it a chance no matter what.

Im excited for this too but i was excited for Shattered Memories too... that was a HUGE disappointment. At least theres combat again, that was the only real reason i didnt enjoy Shattered Memories. A survival horror game that you cant fight in? WTF is that? I have to agree with the people on Akira not being on board... he IS Silent Hill. The game just doesnt seem like itll be the same. Im crossin my fingers, theyd better not destroy my childhood again.

What really needs to happen is Konami needs to get team silent back on the job. SH2 and SH3 were the best and the original of course but 4 was where it started to fall apart... I guess time will tell.
