Bleszinski: Horde mode will return in Gears of War 3

We recently sat down (literally) for a chat with Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski here at E3 and grilled him on all things Gears of War 3. While he couldn't give us much on the planned changes to Versus mode, he did confirm that everyone's favorite co-op online mode from Gears of War 2, Horde mode, would in fact return in Gears of War 3.

Even though Beast mode is in the limelight right now, it doesn't mean Epic Games has forgotten about Horde mode. "Everyone's assuming, for some reason, on my Twitter and stuff, that we're not going to have Horde," Bleszinski said. "Horde will be back. We're just not talking about it right now."

Easily the best addition to the multiplayer of Gears 2, and although its really not a big surprise, it is definitely great to see.

It's basically Horde in reverse, you play as the locust, trying to take out COG forces.

YES.

What I'm waiting for is an announcement of some type of free for all gametype. They got close with wingman but I still rather prefer free for all. I'm also waiting on a regular team deathmatch where it's kill until time runs out. Having to wait until the next round does get boring sometimes on my bad days

Gears of War is totally sweet because of how relevant teammates are! FFA would get silly fast.

FFA would be a disaster in Gears. The game was always centered around teamwork. FFA would be a mess, and get boring and annoying before the end of your first game.

Ummm....IMO Horde was boring..

I wish they would tell us some more multi-player information.

Horde mode is the most fun I've had in Gears for a while. I didn't expect it to be cut, but it's always good to have a confirmation.

This just in, single player campaign will also return, i mean c'mon games never take out big game modes like that, i thought it was common sense that it would return

Well MW2 didn't have a zombie mode that was so successful in WaW. So it happens.

They in essence work together using the same engine's and so forth. They are both Call of Duty games as well. It wouldn't have been a stretch to assume Infinity Ward could add in Zombie mode without much thought. But they didn't.

Let's try this one, Street Fighter 4 Capcom took out Time Trials and Survival trials from Super Street Fighter 4.

I love me some Gears of War, but I really hope that Epic works out the kinks in the multiplayer before they release the game and not two years after its on the shelves.

bring in more levels to Horde! :)

Now I really want the Left 4 Dead multiplayer in my Gears. If they can't mimic it completely, then just allow some people to go on the Horde side. I would love to do Horde mode knowing that once or twice a round I would be facing a human opponent, and they could be a ticker/sniper/grinder etc.

Thank you! Honestly, although I LOVED the online in Gears of War 1, the second game for me was....meh, idk. That mean't I was always playing horde mode online, and i'm glad it's actually returning. Beast mode will probably take most of my online gaming time.

Awesome, First we hear Firefight is coming back, Now we here Horde Mode is coming back... I can die a happy man now... well after I play the games that is :P
