I guess it will be interesting to see who can create more stuff. Starcraft 2 or LBP2.

Personally I'm voting for the former. Blizzard has been playing the user creation game for far longer than MM.

@Ghen It is much easier to create a LBP level than a custom SC map or game. Quantity matters not, both games will bring a lot of great creativity

@Ghen lol how is it a competition between SC2 and LBP2? And obviously LittleBigPlanet 2 is gonna be far more interesting for creativity. SC2 no matter what your doing (and im in the beta i'd know) is making more maps. LBP2 will be amazing for creation.

Unfortunately, Starcraft 2 will fail due to Batlle.net 2.0

LBP2 will have far more levels and creations than Starcraft 2 will.

Wonder if this means it will be easier to use then the level creator in the last game. It was pretty awesome, but got very complicated.

I made a bunch of crappy levels ( under psn id evilabdy if you need a good laugh ) since I never had the time to invest into anything good

LBP essentially allowed people to play a poor man's platformer. Now in LBP2 you can play a poor man's shump, a poor man's RTS, and perhaps other poor man's games? Really though, if I want to play a good platformer I'll play Mario, a good shump I'll play some R-Type, a good RTS I'll play Starcraft.

I see the casual fun appeal of LBP, but the quality just isn't there for me.

Oh I forgot I can't say anything on my mind in the comment sections on Joystiq if it doesn't absolutely praise the game mentioned in the article in some way.

Hm...LBP level search tools were good, hitting other sackboys was funny, the level creator tutorial voice was funny...too bad he couldn't make the tools easier to use or stop causing the game to crash while using the rewind function...oh there I go again.

I'm mostly upset with the creation tools in LBP.

The puzzle games were good I'll admit that. I didn't play any survival ones though.

Will this post in the right spot this time?? Only Joystiq knows for sure. lol.

I can agree with you about the creation tools, huperactives like myself can't fiddle about with stuff like that, but being able to draw shapes and having pre-made essentials like jump pads tell me it will be much better this time round.

Perhaps you should wait until we see more of the game. It sounds like the tools are greatly improved. For example, the fact that you can now change the gravity should greatly improve the platforming aspect and allow for levels to just about anyone's liking.

Hopefully the tools will be better. Is mouse control too much to ask for?

And maybe someday posters on Joystiq can have actual critical conversations about games rather than drool over them immediately and spam the downvote button. I don't downvote the people that like the game, only if their opinion on liking it doesn't make sense. I'd do the same for people who have critical opinions of a game that doesn't make sense.

Do my criticisms make sense? I think they do. I ask myself, do I want to play a platforming game? If the answer is yes and I have two choices Mario or LBP I'll pick Mario 100% of the time. Now if the question is do I want to make my own levels then I'll pick LBP, but again the tools annoyed me in the first game, let's hope the new one makes that better.

No I don't play a single game in a genre, but Mario is so ridiculously better than LBP's platforming that I can't ever conceive a time I'd choose it over Mario. But like Donkey Kong Country, or Kirby, or Sonic, or other quality platformers are also better choices for a good platforming experience.

Your opinion I guess. I mean, Sonic? Really? Anyway, I know a lot of people didn't like the floaty jumps, that may be fixed in this one. Only LBP offers user created content among anything you've listed. This is a good enough reason for me to consider it. It's not like we actually have hordes of platformers around like we do shooters, I've not ever found myself so backed up with them that I had to leave one behind that I'm actually interested in playing.

Wow, acefondu, I could understand one or two responses to this game that you completely do not care about... but now, you have more responses on this page than anyone else.

How about you stop trolling and leave the comments to everyone who likes the game? No one here wants to talk about whether LBP is good or not, because the majority of people that have purchased it already think it's great. Hence the sequel, dumb*ss.

I agree with "Only LBP offers user created content among anything you've listed" that's the same reason I bought it. Is it so wrong of me to ask they polish up the terrible platforming and creation tools though? And like Vidikron said it looks like they are polishing the creation tools, so that's one down.

"Terrible platforming and creation tools"?...

I'm having trouble actually finding these things...I hope to God that they don't, so you can actually see for yourself how ridiculous it is for a gaming company to base their revisions on the opinion of one Joystiq troll (or, at the most, a SMALL minority in the LBP community, considering how well-recieved the platforming was in the game and how well everyone else seems to do with the creation tools)...

I, as well as millions of others, thought they were just fine...

Actually most reviews I read do have problems with the platforming aspects of the game. While the "3 plains" idea was interesting, it results in unwarranted deaths a lot. They need to improve that aspect of the game. It should automatically register a plain that results in your survival if you jump to it, rather than falling needlessly through it.

And I wasn't the only one who thought the creation tools needed improvements on this thread which it seems to be getting thankfully.

WOW. Really looking forward to getting this, I spent 90% of my time using the level editor in the first game. The new tools being introduced are going to result in some really interesting levels. Some of the user levels, dare I say were miles ahead of what was found on the disc.

And yes I look forward to the SC2 editor as well, I remember long nights making custom units and sounds, editing stats, sketching maps then eventually making a custom campaign. It was great fun, and I got terrific feedback from the few that downloaded it.

I really wish more games (console) came with tools as powerful as these two demonstrate.

One of the main issues I had with the first game was that I did not like it as a platform game. There is something about how Nintendo Mario games that just gets it perfect with the fluid feel of the control mechanic that LBP just did not come close to hitting. This prevented me from being able to finish the game because I got frustrated with the controls and gave up.

The fact that you can change Sackboy and his mechanic is a total win for LBP2 and put the game for me as a definite buy.

You see what messed things up for you is the fact that LBP was all based on physics and how hard / soft you pressed the jump button where as Mario uses the same canned jump animation for every jump. In fact, that small difference led to a lot of people not enjoying the game. They said it felt floaty.

I'm one of the ones who was turned off by the floatiness. Was so excited to get into the beta but then never got the full game because of the sackboy handling.

The fact you can control a sackbot with more predictable (or do I want to say "traditional"?) jumping in LBP2 has my interest again

i think the big change they need to make is to force creators to allow more copying. There shoud be a system giving credit where it is due, but it should work like this.

Say Bob creates a level.

Then Rene decides she likes alot of the ideas, but it can be improved. So she copies it and creates her own version.

Then Jimmy decides to improve on that.

And so on.

So then Jimmy's level is credited, automatically, as Based on a level created by Bob, and modified by Rene. Everyone gets credit, automatically, but it is easie for people to build on each other's ideas.

That is basically the system that ModNation Racers employs for its creation/sharing system.

I can't wait for this game. I think that people who badmouthed for first game for trivial reasons ("It's a kids' game!", "the levels are boring", etc.) need to play some more user created content because there are some marvelous LBP levels. So with the new tools I'm sure the levels that will be made will blow us out of the water. Plus, the addition of a counter for the floating controls is a godsend.
