"...fingers soar from begging for an original console sequel..."

You used the wrong word. It should be 'sore' not 'soar'. I was like "Fingers flying? What?!?"

I don't blame Jaffe for his "lie". With that type of question a "no comment" or "I can't say" is practically a yes, so he just wanted it to be a surprise.

People said this wasn't a big reveal, hm, I fail to understand what classes as a big reveal nowadays, how could this game, not yet featured on PS3, but has appear on every PS console at least twice to 3 times plus and is the longest living PS franchise as well as oldest and one of the most famous, which has been nagged about since PS3 first reached our hands, not be a big reveal..........

Oh yeah, its not 'another' FPS or GTA clone ¬_¬ Silly me...

@Spunky Monkey 190906 So a big reveal consists of pretending like it doesn't exist just so you can announce that it exists and "shock" everyone... even though they had a sneaking position it already did exist?

That would have been leakage, unlike everything else that was spoilt because of leaks, Motostorm3, Infamous2, Killzone3 (although this was talked about openly by sony before hand), Jaffe played it off quite well. He knew people wanted it, he also knew people suspected it might pop up, so when have people breathig down your next for an anticipated game, what else can you do?

As far as I'm concerned, lie or no lie, Jaffe did what he had to do to keep hypage down.

Besides, last year, Sony revealed Agent and FF14, apparently those weren't classed as big reveals, the year before it was the Last Guardian and GOW3, those weren't classed as big enough reveals either.

So excuse me if I'm a little bit baffled as to what a 'big reveal' consists of :/

I'm glad Jaffe was lying, I've been craving for some Twisted Metal action, playing Vigilante 8 on 360 just reminded me how awesome TM would be on PS3, since then, every time Jaffe said he wasn't working on it I wanted to throw a bucket at him >_

Dude! Soundgarden was integral to the original Road Rash experience. I used to play the original on the 3DO (I know, right?) and it was by far my favorite game for a long while. Actually, along with Captain Quazar, it was the only game I played for a long while. I liked how you could just ruthlessly bash people off their bikes with chains and metal pipes, and the cheesy live-action videos were hilarious.

Funny the mention of Jaffe being a liarface. During Gamespot's Live Stage Show a couple of days ago, he actually brought up how he had to lie to a Joystiq person about this. He apologized profusely, just so you know. :)

the funny thing is, i really thought road rash III (on genesis) was the best in the series... although I really enjoyed the PSX version as well.

that said, yes soundgarden is ingrained in my head as the band that's in the road rash game.

I'm not sure why people downvoted you, because you actually make a very valid point. Twisted Metal games have sucked for a good while now, what indications do we have that this one will be any better? Furthermore, do we even really need anymore Twisted Metal? It's kind of gone stale for me. I would rather let it down to rest with the good memories I had with the first few titles still intact, instead of further tarnishing any respect I once had for the series by releasing more and more shitty sequels.

I think Sony should have showed some Last Guardian instead. That's what everyone really wanted to see.

He made a "valid point"? When? From what I read, megapixel admitted that he never played most (if any) of the Twisted Metal games.

"From my understanding, the Twisted Metal series has been consistently average other than with Black."

So not only did megapixel not make any specific reasons or arguments against the Twisted Metal series, he was kind enough to admit he never really played it. That makes both of megadouches.

I think if Last Guardian was at a point worth showing, they would have showed it, I don't think team ico want the work they are currently on to be shown off every moment, its better that they keep us waiting and show us the finished product later on.

As for your opinion on TM, I'm not arguing or agreeing with it, I just think its nice to have a varied difference in games, as of now, there isn't a game in the niche on PS3 that TM fills, whether or not its great fun or meh, as long as they adopt a Warhawk sense of teamwork and fun, I'll be okay with whatever pops up. The course of the last few months has had me playing a stream of third persons, excluding Heavy Rain, and based on the line up of future games, that doesnt look to change very much :( So I guess TM brings something new to my current gaming habits, I welcome it.

TM 2 is the best in the series considering time made...

Black was just a much needed change in direction since 989 studios ravaged the series, much like tomb raider did and like what Mortal Kombat is doing... Sometimes you just gotta start from scratch

Well I don't know if I would go so far as to say day one. Though if they make this as good as Jaffe is saying it will be and if they manage to outdo TM: Black they could have a real hit on their hands. Sales will definitely 'soar'.

I do agree this does take me back to my youth. Though I only beat the game with Outlaw and his ending is pretty depressing....

Am I really the only one that was hoping for something not-Twisted Metal from Jaffe? A new IP? I've never touched a TM -- I'm sure I'd love it, but still. Something about a car combat game in 2010 just doesn't appeal to me at all... somehow.

It speaks to my faith in Jaffe, then, that I'll be buying this 1st day.

What indication? Maybe the fact that Jaffe, the guy that created the series, is the lead on this one. And what do you mean it has sucked for a good long while? The last couple of true sequels in the series, Black on the PS2 and Head-On for the PSP, were both good games. Black was the last new game for home consoles and it was extremely good.

The main problem is that it's simply gone for a long time. By the time this game launches Black will be 10 years old. And you're asking if we even need any more TM? Hell yeah we do, a lot more than we need another hundred shooters.

Megapixel didn't say they sucked. He said they were average, which is arguably true.

People should get downvoted for trolling, being irrelevant, or being obnoxious. He did none of those things. He was downvoted because people didn't like his opinion.

I can think of countless franchises I can consider have gone stale in my opinion, saying that, the existing fan bases they have prove that my opinion matters about as much as none gamer.

I tend to think that if a game has a dedicated fan base following it still, it can't be classed as stale. Fan bases help to shape the potential of the game. Unfortunatly fanbases for some games, like Tomb Raider, have grown up and no longer really care about it :P Thus the reason for the dramatic sales decline over the years.

Twisted Metal 2 was the FIRST twisted metal i ever played then i was able too borrow Twisted Metal and that was a huge difference tho i felt like i was taking a step back as not as many cool characters from 2 was in the 1st i still enjoyed it it was still a good game. 3 was Mediocre / bad mediocre being nice.

Twisted Metal Black was the next one i had interest in after hearing about alot of talk on it so i got it greatest hits i think, The game was AWESOME i love the darkness of the story's my favorite ending i think had too be Dollfaces with the man in the iron maiden.

when i heard Jack Tretton say 1 more big reveal i was like :O CAN IT BE WHAT I THINK IT IS ! soon as they mentioned car combat i was like YES THIS IS IT !!! but when i saw the guy flick the Cigar on the ground and someone with boots coming up i was like wait a minute ... this can either be Duke Nukem OR Twisted Metal and i said it can't be Duke also we don't have any Duke on our PSN Store then it was sweet tooth it was a great feeling i had i was shouting YES YES YES !

at the first of the trailer i was like ... uhhh a helicopter what the heck ? but the more i saw of it i thought . oh well that's fine since it's part of Multiplayer just as long the Single Player stick too it's originality of Cars Only then great !

Can't Wait too see more !

Last Guardian looks like a project I'd like to see in a long process, shown in one single interview or preview, not a quick E3 trailer just to re-domonstrate how many cool games PS3 has, I doubt a pointless trailer rushed to E3 'just to remind everyone about it' would do it much justice. I never see the point in that, thats what GT5 was doing, and it was only making people more irritable rather then excited, show a trailer or trailers a few times, then shut up about it until you are almost done, THEN you can pour out trailers. Like Heavy Rain did :) We already know Agent is being developed, LG is being developed, why would they need to show them again at this E3? There's no logic to that, I want to see new stuff or 'too be released stuff', not stuff I already know about but can't have yet, not until 2011 or so.

I have no doubt LG will be a good game though.

It is a lot of fun and has great dark humor tied into the stories. I remember playing Twisted Metal 2 with my best friend as a kid allll the time. In fact, he got a night off from the wife the other night and we broke out my copy of it (its one of the few PS1 games I still have) and had a blast with it.
