MGS3 is the best MGS without a doubt, so all future 3DS owners should buy this.

@(Unverified) Seconded. The story blows all the others out of the water, and despite the weird controls I still prefer the gameplay to MGS 4.

i'll be getting this for sure, but i humbly disagree that mgs3 was the best in the series. as a huge fan of the franchise, i would say the 4th one is the best one.

In my very personal opinion MGS3 was a really solid, fun & great game, but certainly MGS4 was the best game so far.

That epic final scene was well epic :)

I thought MGS3's story was just incredible. MGS4 was also great, but it's obvious they didn't have nearly as much room for creativity for a game to end the series as opposed to a game to begin the storyline.

Pissed me off that Naruto stole the MGS3 story though.

4 is good, but suffers from a story that makes no sense, too long cutscenes, location hopping (I prefer travelling through a single, consistent location, like in MGS3), mediocre boss battles (still better than MGS2, though), and inconsistent gameplay quality (Acts 1 and 2 are godly - some of the best moments in any MGS ever - but Acts 3 to 5 range from mediocre to good.)

It says loads that a mediocre 'MGS' is still a fantastic 'game', though.

Also, how do I make myself stop being Unverified? =(

@Hyams

MGS2 has the worst boss battles in the game, and the Big Shell is a bit boring to explore.

Excellent gameplay, though, and LOADS of 'OMGWTF moments'. I hadn't followed the game at all before release, so the whole 'playing as Raiden thing' took me as a surprise ... and I actually liked it.

Absolutely agree. Thanks in part to its 60s setting, MGS3 had a lot of style that I think the other MGS games lacked. I mean come on, who didn't like SNNNNNAAAAAAAAKE EAAAAAATEEEEERR!!!!

3 is the best IMO.

Specifically because of the boss battles.

Also. On top of remaking Zelda and Star Fox they decide to to remake my two favorite games ever. Metal Gear 3 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Seriously... it's like they asked me personally what I wanted in the next DS (although it wouldn't have been 3D but anything without glasses is awesome in my book) This is why I love Nintendo. I feel like a kid again.

Oh and since I'm apparently pulling the ropes go ahead and throw an Ogre Battle 64 update in there. Thanks!

(OMG WHAT IF THEY INCLUDE VC?)

Nintendo. I've forgiven you for the Wii.

this tech demo looks better than Peace Walker, graphically.

I explained my position two days ago over at the GoNintendo forums, complete with screenshots illustrating my point. Here's the link. (I'm Darth Vader)

A few people are coming out with the conclusion that the 3DS graphically is better than the iPhone 3GS, and that thing runs similar specs to the Gamecube (but without a dedicated graphics chip and more ram).

Also, screenshots always look worse than games in motion, so *shrug*.

Damned new comment system

In game footage. I guess one guy was distracting the tethergirl, since other previews have said that the device was turned it off as soon as they pulled out a camera.

So the 3DS is graphically capable then? I was getting a bit scared due to Ridge Racer, Nintendogs(Looks just like the last one as far as I can tell) and some other titles that looked just ok. Metal Gear looks amazing though.

@TheRealLawrence well they are tech demos and in alpha form. why would you worry? you should worry more if it was the final product, which its not. theres a whole lot of room for improvements for all these games. the hardware isn't even final. i wouldnt even be shock if nintendo bump up the specs for the 3ds, like they did with the gamecube after e3.

Actually, you get a couple more vertical pixels and a couple less horizontal ones so it's pretty much the same as a PSP and Portable Ops looked fine on there.

yeah that may be. But what I meant was I wouldn't play through Snake Eater (or any other game from last generation) again in this day and age cause theres too many other titles on current consoles I have yet to experience. Great game, but been there done that and I just prefer playing big games like this on a big screen. But I also don't travel much, If I did I would be all over the handhelds.

That suit is from MGS3 - it was the battle suit or combat suit or something like that, but it was a Russian design that Snake (IIRC) pulls out of a locker in the final base - you took 50% less damage from bullets in it, but it was not great camoflage.

@Stahlbrand It's the sneaking suit, in Peace Walker it eliminates your foot step sounds. Or at least makes them quieter, I can still hear em but I think the enemy can't.
