The music was actually the part of the trailer I enjoyed the least. Yeah, I know, it's classic, but there are tons of classic tunes from the Metroid series and that ain't one of the better ones.

I'm with Da Largest. The music just felt a bit too jarring and grating. It would have been fine if not for that bass-like bit that kept repeating over and over and over again.

The Joystiq video has an unusually high framerate for some reason. You can view the trailer in its original form here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LQhO2QtCNk

I really liked the Prime series, but there's just something about playing Metroid in 2D. And the 3D 3rd person perspective is long over due, and looks amazing.
But to have all 3 in one game is incredible! Looking forward to your hands on impression.

Really good trailer. Still though, I'm skeptical. I don't like the idea of constantly switching how I'm holding the controller, and the original trailers had me believe the game was a lot more like the classic 2D games while now it's clearly it's own beast. Super Metroid is one of my favorite games ever, and Fusion was fantastic too, but I was never a big fan of the prime series and I really just want a return to the original game mechanics.

I don't know if we've already brofisted over this, but SM is one of my all time favorite games, and I didn't care for Prime either. Us minorities gotta stick together, ya know
If you are a Ninja Gaiden fan (the new ones), do what I'm doing - Stay skeptical, and if it doesn't turn out to be worthy, at least we have a new game by Team Ninja, who is awesome.

Do you have any ad-blocking software installed? If so, try disabling it first then loading the video. If it works, there's your problem, if not, then it could just be a temporary error (server overload, you downloading too much thus slowing down the video load, random windows problem, etc.).

@AriesWarlock The separate RSS feeds are no more.
It's been like this since Futurestiq launched. Where have you been?

Is this your PS3 feed?
http://www.joystiq.com/ps3/rss.xml
Doesn't look like there is a /playstation/rss.xml file, so you're probably going to have to add the PS3 and PSP feeds separate if you want both.

The music gave me a headache but the game play looked cool. Maybe I"ll play this on my neighbor's Wii.

I've always thought Samus looks sexier in the Power Suit.

If you to see any Kinect games just look at the Wii's back catalog and the Sorcery game....yay, when are you guys going to post your preview of it?
I'm actually mildly interested in it.

Well Parade magazine recently did a test run of the software (as Natal, before it was revealed to be Kinect) and they said it certainly left a positive impression on them.
They also noted that it might not replace the need for a Wii (especially among families with kids who are already used to or own a Wii), but that with time the reviewer's kids might actually really want both.

Seeing Kinect all I can think about is the fuss made about destroying tvs with the Wii a few years ago. Well, when the kickboxing game came up, I was imagining the flood of stories of people punching family members, ornaments, windows or tvs accidentally.

Dear Joystiq,
Please PLEASE get rid of the yellow dots in the letters "j" and "i" in the video. I tried to scrub my screen with a damp washcloth when I realized it was the watermark. Please remove it and in it's place put gray dots.

Just the keynote trailer, then:/
Still, a chance to study it more closely is welcome. Some of those sequences definitely looked like over-the-shoulder 3rd, a perspective that would favor Metroid.
I think at the end of the day Metroid does its best as a Survival game (basically the best of survival horror without the horror), and if this game can create that impression, it'll excel.
