This doesn't surprise me. An argument can certainly be made that the "The Taxidermist" was overpriced, but I felt it was worth it.

i totally agree. taxidermist was cool, i guess- but i got it for free. i would NOT have paid money for it. it's interesting to see which games can bring in a ton of additional money with paid DLC and those which can't. i loved Heavy Rain, but as a story-based, single-player adventure- i just felt that extra DLC was a cash-grab and not a necessity to the story. this is why i never buy add-on content for single-player games: if it was really important, it would have been included in the game. and it would last longer than 8 minutes.

the same thing goes for all those shitty Mass Effect 2 missions. i got a few of them free with the cerberus network- but i would have been pissed if i had actually spent money on that useless scrap of "extra content".

@Angel Mass I think Cage moved on to his next project. I had a feeling that the Taxidermist might've been the only DLC they prepared.

Only time will tell.

i loved the taxidermist, but would've hated myself had I paid for it. It was honestly a 7-10 minute "episode" but wasn't it around $10?

I loved the game but with a lack of replayability in my mind (Jay..........son) I had to resell it a few months back. :(

Unless I happened to nab it in a sale that I didn't know about, I believe it was only $5

@2Slick It was only 5 bucks, but lets be fair it was the demo they created for E3 so we had already seen it played it wasnt really even worth the 5 bucks because it didnt offer anything new, not even trophies. On the other hand a new chapter comprised of footage we've never seen and a trophy or two would easily be worth the 5 bucks.

I feel the opposite way. Well, not totally opposite... I loved Heavy Rain, but don't really feel a need for DLC--unless it's going to be the kind of DLC that adds massive replay value instead of just a couple extra chapters.

I also don't personally care about Move support, since I already beat the game, but I think that for new players, Move support will be more worthwhile (and enjoyed by more the earlier it's released) than DLC released in 2010.

@MLC No kidding. One more reason not to buy Move IMHO. I didn't see any games that in my mind justified the price.

I'm not really interested in the Move, but at the same time, I can't say that I'm all that disappointed by the fact that they are putting the DLC on hold. I blew through the one that came with the came pretty quickly and it shocked me. After realizing that I had beaten the add-on in a matter of minutes, it dawned on me that I felt bad for those people who had shelled out $10 for it. Plus, I feel that the DLC really didn't add anything notable to main game, itself. Though I would much rather have Quantic Dream focus their efforts on making a new game instead of some silly motion controller add-on for Heavy Rain, I can't say that put out. Word to your mother.

@Faenix It was a preorder bonus but the preorder stated that it was giving you one of the chapters that would later be sold on PSN for free, so by pre-ordering you got a 65 dollar value of course being that most people knew how the chapter went, most people would have been crazy to actually pay money for what should have been offered as a free demo.

@DeeZeee Not true. it's the gameplay that takes precedent and even then the game has multiple endings so you could still die or end the DLC a different way regardless of the main game's story.

This is where Sony takes things too far. Not only is it pushing back development of a provenly successful business - DLC chapters for games - for something that has been proven unsuccessful. That is, adding direct-interaction interfaces to existing software. In this case, Move with motion control, but the Wii has proven that slapping on motion controls to existing games tend to fail terribly, since they are afterthoughts of development and much of the game's UI was designed with a controller in mind. And that's not the only example - one of the many reasons systems like iOS and Android have succeeded over Windows Tablet is because their UIs were designed for finger interaction, rather than mouse. It's the exact reason iPad runs iOS and not OS X, because the latter was designed for a mouse. It's why you don't see Flash on handheld devices. It's the reason why Microsoft went back to the drawing board with Windows Phone 7's UI. It's because adding direct human interaction to an interface designed to be used with tools like a controller or stylus just doesn't work. Everybody seems to get that but Sony.

And yet, for me.. heavy Rain with Move support = one notch in the "I want!" belt.

SOCOM 4, same. Resident Evil 5, same.

There strategy is working. ;)

@Faenix Yep, and I wonder how many people were equally excited for, say, Call of Duty 3 for the Wii for those same reasons. Their hype strategy is working, I agree (not on me personally, but I see it around a lot). But if they follow through on their promises and motion control not only adds a lot to those games but those games actually feel like they couldn't be played another way, then Sony will severely break history with a bang and I will eat my words. I haven't high hopes, however.

@mbarriault No one is saying we WONT get the DLC, this is just Joystiq stirring a pot with the assumption that no one wanted to buy a demo, which is basically what is more likely the thing that might have hurt it's sales if that's even true.

Considering how much work goes into a Heavy Rain chapter, it would probably take them longer to do that then to add Move Support. When you're pushing a new platform you need content and a free Move patch would be more beneficial to sony's goal of selling more copies of the main game than selling a DLC patch to people who already have it.

@PN04 I'm not saying you won't get it neither. All I was saying is that it's a poor business choice, since they are foregoing definite money for something that may or may not be successful, and in fact has proven historically that it won't be (note that I'm just speaking about adding Move to existing titles, not the system as a whole).

Also, Move support will likely take longer than a new content patch, since the software is already there for new content. Ever wonder why an author can write a book in a couple months but a video game adaptation takes several years? It's because content, even when well-written and detailed, still takes the minority of development time compared to systems.

If I want to play a game with motion control, I WILL PLAY THE WII.

There is no point in withholding something that might be enjoyable and replacing it with an added gimmick.

And by the way, at leas the Wiimote didn't have a huge damn ball at the tip.

Its not, sadly I want more then $30 for it so i cant trade it in.. but this move support might just make me keep it though and try it "a different way".

Dont get me wrong, it has an excellent story, looks great - but I just dont think its worth full price. :/

Stop reading anything about it if you have any plans of playing Heavy Rain, there is a spoiler that will ruin the entire game if you read it. It's an awesome game but would be fine for a rental. You can finish it in maybe 12 hours but there are many different endings.

Didnt this game feel like a beginning-middle-end type game, that really didnt need any "Extra Episodes"

I mean... the whole point of the game is that it had closure... why are people crying over this? what more do you want?
