I happen to have an Android phone and the platform is one of the best and I absolutely love the OS. Both iPhone and Android are incredibly good and both of them are far better than any other smart phones on the market..

As far as updates are concerned, considering how diverse the Android hardware and market support is , the updates are actually brilliant.. In about 2 years the Android phones have beaten practically every other mobile platform in terms of functionality.. Android works on practically every handset and has to support multiple architectures.. In comparison the iPhone works on only Apple Phones and there has been 3 apple phones released so far with the 4th being released shortly.

When you take that into account then you have to realise the difficulties in updating the platform.. The issues is not with Google where updates are concerned, but rather with the Handset Manufacturer to tweak the updates for their platform.. Even considering that, the software is absolutely awesome..

@woods if its free with psn + -- If you buy it normally then you keep it, but if its free access from plus, then you get it as long as you have a + account..

You wont lose anything you purchase, you will lose the freebies thrown into the + subscription...

@woods The stuff you get "free" from Plus will become deactivated if your sub. runs out. If you resubscribe they will re-activate. This doesn't apply to anything you buy.

So, you're actually going to get most of those things. Netfilx as native app is a no-go at the moment. And getting Hulu (while awesome) is not totally up to Sony. The lack of Hulu on other platforms has everything to do with the networks. Until they get their heads out of their butts, that isn't going to change.

But you are getting the price point you mentioned, QORE, Free Wallpapers/avatars, a free PSN game (to my knowledge they haven't detailed how that's gonna work other than if you sign up this month you get Wipeout HD), discounts, and cross game chat. Plus Steamworks!

That's a lot of stuff!

$60 a year is really not a lot of money. I'm not sure why you think you deserve 12 games plus a lot of other stuff for it. If they followed your advice PSN+ members would actually cost Sony money. They'd be begging people not to join.

Premium content is usually just that: premium. Richer people get it. Kind of like at the airport: you spend $20,000 a year flying, and you get permission to use their red carpet lounges, where you can sit in a nice chair for an hour while you wait for your connection, get a free $1 newspaper, and get table service, where you can spend more money on food and drink. That is a pretty bad deal for $20,000, but it's premium. The people spending $10,000 a year flying have to sit out in the crowded terminals and crappy airport bars with the plebes.

Whoa, i wasn't asking the question belligerently. I agree with you it's pretty lame, but that's because I'm probably not their target crowd. They seem to be targeting the early adopter, high-spender, beta-craver. I don't think they're trying to target everybody. If "everybody" subscribed, they probably couldn't even handle the beta key part of it. Every game would have to potentially deal with millions of beta accounts.

My only point was that your proposal sounded more expensive to Sony than $60 a year. The 12 games they're "giving away" aren't being given away, but rented out. You lose access if you don't pay. Maybe you meant that too, in which case, I agree your system would be about the same...but still, your features sounded like they're trying to appeal to as many people (not just gamers) as possible (with Hulu, etc..), and it doesn't look like Sony is trying to do that yet.

Good points but thats probably why game support for my Droid is decent at best as compared to my Ipod Touch. Most of the games for the Droid are the free games or .99 cent games you can get for the Iphone. There are a handful of good titles from established game houses but not even 1 percent of what comes out every week for the Iphone. I think that will change a bit down the road but not enough to make me not own at the very least an Ipod Touch to go along with my Android phone.

Yeah I know but that's only if you plan on shutting off your PS3. I use that feature but I'm talking about not having to use that feature at all and all downloads just auto-install. I've never downloaded something and decided I didn't want to install it....and even if I did I could just delete it.

I'm thinking this may be how they're OS/PSN is setup and it may be a hard work around or not possible at all.

Well to do that automatically they'd have to interrupt whatever else you were doing at the time. I'm sure that's the reason it's only available manually or before it shuts off. I don't think it's set up to allow installing while doing something else.

BC generally requires hardware to do so.
