I'm super excited for Rising. The trailer looked incredible. The gameplay also looks very fun. This is my most anticipated game shown at E3, even more than the 3DS, Kinect, Move, and first party games displayed.

I figured that the game would take place between MGS 2 & 4. They never really explained how Raiden found out where Sunny was and how he managed to take her back from the Patriots. On top of that, it was never explained in MGS 4 how he became,to use a Star Wars reference, 'more machine now than man.'

Well, it would have to take place then because he wasn't all robotic and stuff at the end of MGS4, ruling out this taking place after MGS4 unless this is just one of those types of spin-offs that doesn't fit into the main storyline.

i just feel like explaining. Big Mama told raiden were sunny was. so sunny was rescued by raiden from area 51 following MGS2 than he went looking for Big Boss corpse but was captured. As a prisoner, the Patriots used Raiden as a test subject for experiments in exoskeletal enhancement surgery, during which he had his head and spine excised from his body from his lower jaw down and subsequently grafted into an enhanced synthetic body.

I don't understand the hate this game is getting. I grew playing the series since Metal Gear on the NES all the way through to MGS4, and I'm really excited for this game. Stupid purists....

I think after that E3 showing most of the trolls have crawled back under their bridge. The 360 fanboys that hated this because it was sony's franchise are seeing that the game actually looks wicked cool, and the sony fanboys that were butthurt hearing this game is coming to the 360 are also seeing how fun this looks. Just goes to show you, games can be (presumably) fun on any console!

I'm overall looking forward to this game and there's like 90% chance that it'll be a first day purchase, but I know that I'll be disappointed that I can't do stealth runs or try and collect all the equipment on offer, because those aren't features of this.

However had this been just a sword fighting game I'm sure I would have loved it, but I expect certain things when they give it a Metal Gear title, moreso an MGS title (which I still don't get).

I just don't like Raiden. I don't care that he became a badass in MGS4, to me he is the annoying blonde protagonist who isn't Snake from MGS2. I still think Kojima needs to remake Metal Gear using the MGS4 engine. Rising is going to be a really hard sell for me, and I am a Metal Gear nut.

I think revisiting Shadow Moses in MGS4 was enough for me, the main draw of MGS for me was the story, and since we all know it now all I needed was to see the place in HD with a free camera.

Although I was annoyed that they skipped certain places.

I agree 100% with you. I don't like Raiden at all as a character and this game looks like it goes against the flow of a Metal Gear Solid game. I am a huge MGS fan, have been for a long time, and this game just doesn't look that great.

Special Agent Bob... you most certainly DID play as Snake in Metal Gear Solid 3, Naked Snake. There isn't much difference in playing as Snake or Solid Snake... or Raiden in MGS2 for that matter. But this game appears to go away from that and I'm sure a lot of people will find it fun and an easy way to get into Metal Gear but there are Metal Gear fans who aren't impressed and this game is a tough sale to those fans of the series.

I'm confused about everyone agreeing on Raiden being cool beginning in MGS4. I thought, like everyone else, that he was lame at the beginning of MGS2, but as the game went on, you really started to feel a maturation in and toughening of his character. By the end of the game, Raiden was a badass. Before the makeover.

Where are all the brainwashed masses now? The ones that believed unquestionably that MGS4 could not run on 360 and was only possible on PS3?

Rising is the same engine, with this all new destructable environment mechanic on top (meaning even more processing power is needed) - yet its for 360 too.

Funny that.

As a side note - I realise many of you will simply tell me space was the biggest issue - and of course MGS4 on 360 may have needed more than 1 dvd. My point is the visuals. Clearly MGS4 can run on 360, as this now proves to anyone who honestly believed there was something amazingly futuristic and special about its engine...

I don't think we can come to any conclusion until we see it running on both consoles. We don't even know if these screens are for PS3 or 360...

Well they HAVE had what? Like 2 years to number crunch and optimize the engine to use less resources. For all we know this version of the engine will use less resources than the version used for MGS4. It's the same deal with how sequels have better graphics than their original counterpart. With more time, you can make things look better and better, even with the same tools.

@MrXBob To be accurate MGS4 STILL isn't running on the 360. This is a completely different game designed to run on both machines and may not even posses as deep a level design as MGS4 or feature enough of the same gameplay elements that one can even compare the two.

@MrXBob It's not the MGS4 engine. If you recall last year in the KP Report, they said Rising will be using a whole new engine based on the MGS4 engine since that engine was built specifically for the PS3. It looks similar but it's a totally new engine

You can tell it's a different engine from what we've already seen anyway, the lighting renders colours much more saturated.

it is most def not the MGS4 engine, you can tell the difference somewhat, especially if you played MGS4 obessesivly.

my only gripe, it doesnt look like it will follow in the MGS gameplay.

I wasn't interested in this game previously but when I saw it was going to be like Ninja Gaiden I was on board. Just hope the story isn't confusing for someone that has never played a MGS game.

The 360 continues to impress with it's graphic capabilities 5 years after launch.

@cool8man Actually if you want to be really impressed you should check out the new Rage footage from E3 running on 360@60fps. Pretty much kicks naysayers like imeNrique in the teeth. Definitely up there with the likes of Killzone 2/U2. I'm surprised Joystiq haven't done anything on it since it's caused quite a ruckus amongst the fanboys

I've been wondering the same thing since I first saw the way the targeting reticule moved in the trailer. This game looks perfect for Move / Kinect support. The only thing I'd be concerned about is how it would handle movement through the environment..

I HATE that this game has become so japanese that it almost loose it's identity.

Look at Raiden's freaking hair, it's almost like a super saiyan or something straight out of a manga!

I'm not buying this... Kojima better get the reigns of the IP again because Peace Walker look 10000x better than this.
