You can tilt the plane by tilting your wrist (imagine turning a doorknob).

tbh it doesnt replace the joystick unless you hate your wrist, using that to just to change directions would destroy your wrist in the most painful fashion.
However if their goal is for an augmented reality suit, then the device is fine, but as a joystick you might as well just get a mallet and smash your wrist apart.

In my case I just thought the device is not concerned about carpal tunnel syndrome.

its a joystick duct taped to a hand.

The hand is the joystick though. There isn't really a "grab this stick and turn it left in your hand", it's more like "grab this imaginary stick, turn it left, and we sense that you turned an imaginary stick left and translate that into the controls for the game"
From what I saw it didn't seem to accomplish much more than a joystick could though. Maybe when they get the full suit going it'll be a bit more worthwhile.

They are bringing back the Reality Quest Glove? The price of admission in 97 was for $200 it promptly dropped to $20 a few months after release...still have it in storage.
The problem with the controller is you wrist gets tired with extended play and you inevitably play with your arm in your lap to reduce fatigue.
