I never thought I'd see Ludwig and Chris getting down on a dance floor at the same time.

Also, I can see this thing selling hotcakes. The minute my daughter sees this, it will be on her Do Want! list, along with a Kinect.

Why hasn't Microsoft mentioned anything about Kinect selling hotcakes? If it really does sell hotcakes, then I'm in.

Honestly, as far as playable games shipping in 2010 go, this is close to Game of Show.

I can just see so many diverse groups of gamers/non-gamers enjoying this, especially if Harmonix supports the online infrastructure the way they do Rock Band.

And I mean, with alcohol and women, this is like GotY status.

@embassy as opposed to going to a night club where there are loads of beautiful women and drinks ? That has been GOTY for the majority of the populace forever.. If they manage to impress they may even get laid, that's the trophy :)

All said and done, this is the type of games Kinect will excel at, it involves no tools its just you moving your body..

You dont go dancing holding a controller in your hand thats just silly, but you dont drive your car by sticking your hands up in the air and pretending to hold a steering wheel either, because thats just silly :)

@dishwasher That's what so cool about this video. Like myself, Kietzmann says that dancing is not his forte. But watching the video, you could see, that if he put his heart into it and let the rhythm take him, he'd look awesome on any dance floor.

And that is the most enticing bit about this game. Harmonix has created this 'simulator' with the ability to turn left-footed geeks like myself, into people who can look good, and feel confident on the dance floor.

I have a good feeling that dancing may not be your forte when you initially pick up this game, but after a few days/weeks of practice, anyone who did not know that you could not dance, will likely think you were always good at it.

Speaking of backup dancers, are they actually scored/captured, or are they just window dressing?

It was initially implied that this game supports up to 3 players, but it looks more and more like it's only doing motion capture on sexy, sexy Ludwig.

I agree that the backup dancers don't look like they're influencing the game. So this is pretty much single player as far as score? Another article implied that Kinect can't do processing on more than two people at once, so that might be the reason for the limitation. Not that it'd be that much of a bad thing, you'd probably want to learn how to dance on your own...

I think that 2 player thing was a bit misleading. From what I've read the original tech could only handle 2 players, but Microsoft has implemented it so that it can do more.

All of this (be it 2 players or more) is without confirmation from MS though

True, I haven't seen any confirmation from Microsoft either on number of players. If they don't have the capability for more than 2 people, then I'm sure they're working on it. I just hope that they don't try to deceive people if, by some small chance, they don't have it now and it doesn't work out. They've done a good job of making it seem like it can be used for many people at once without actually coming out and saying it. I know I never even questioned it until I saw the tech article.

@Crusty Magic Personally I love every single Kinect video, not for the games, but because you have to film the people playing it instead of just a controller. And those people good sir are HILARIOUS

If you want to dance in front of the TV, what's stopping you? Why do I need to spend $150 plus game to do it?

Heck, you don't even need a TV, you can do it OUTSIDE THE HOUSE!

But then you'd get the deadly cancer rays and have to worry about people seeing you and laughing. The Kinect doesn't judge, it will help you learn to dance and never laugh and tell you to give up.

The idea is that it actually teaches you to dance realistic routines that look coherent.

@spin cycle If those are coherent dance moves, I guess I'll stick with incoherent dance moves.

Not everyone of us wants to look like a backup dancer, that's not how you dance in a club anyway.

This game very well could push me over the edge to get a kinect. I dance, I dance a lot. At partys, clubs, and at home as a form of exercise. I can go do an hour and a half of Armin Van Buuren on an afternoon I'm off and get a great work out.

This is definitely on my watch list.

Out of curiosity there are three players shown on screen.. Does it actually map the backup dancers ? How many players is it actually tracking ?
