Yet another retailer has listed the Kinect add-on for the Xbox 360 at a price of $149.99, but this time, it's a little different: the price is on Microsoft's own site. Over on the Microsoft Store, the "Kinect Sensor for Xbox 360" is clearly listed (and available for preorder on November 4) at $149.99. We've screencapped the image above, just in case it gets removed in the future.
Of course, this still doesn't confirm the price for certain -- the retail side may have no more inside information from the company than any other retailer does, and may be simply listing what it expects the price to be. Or, the price may have gone live early accidentally, pending an official announcement. Either way, throw another piece of evidence on the pile for a $149.99 price on Microsoft's controller-free gaming system.
[Thanks, Michael!]

I'm going to be really mad if Joy Ride is $59.99. That game was suppose to be free AND I'd rather play it with a regular controller! >:(

Yeah this is definitely a no-go for me now. And I REALLY hope this is the ONLY thing you need for this. If you need any other peripheral or any add-ons then it's dead for me.

@TheMainProtagonist Kotaku just posted a rumour that Kinect COSTS 150 for microsoft to make, that's why retailers are pricing it that way...
I guess if it really is 150 dollars to make... then I expect the price to rise instead of lower to 99,90
150 is already a fail in my eyes, but could be saved with advertisement (look at the iPad)... 199 is a certain DOA, not all their advertising money will save them this time, more expensive then the wii? c'mon!.
99 could make nintendo run for it's money (depending of the software, of course)

so weird...this and the $299 for the new xbox! who would buy these?
I think the move controller is over priced but I know that will drop like $10-15 on amazon and If I want a move I can get a used PS3 eye for like $25
who am I kidding I'm just saving my money for AAA titles anyway

Ok in all honesty, all joking aside. Also, all techy "oooh this is neat stuff going on here" aside.
Does anyone TRULY see this thing taking off and being remotely as successful as Wii Motion or even Playstation Move?
@ $149, 360 core gamers (i.e. everyone with an Xbox) will dismiss this thing instantly as it goes against everything they stand for in gaming, and the "crazy casuals" will NOT be spending an entry price of $149 + $149 minimum for console/Kinect for this set up either. Let's just call it like it is.
Sony does what they've always been successful at (keyword there: successful): Copy Nintendo and do it better. Move is no different, and will share similar results.

it may be on microsofts store site but i dont think headquarters has control over the store. it may be another area of microsoft that's listing it. i wouldnt be surprised if they later price it at $99 like the wii board.

They most likely won't put it at 60$, maybe around the price for a new wii title, 50$.
-That price still makes this thing LAME. lol

Price drop nothing. $75 was an excessive buy for me. At $75 there would have to be a "system selling" game that could only be played with kintecs to get it. But there's no such game and it's way more then $75. No way no how am I getting this. $50 was an instant buy, but it's not $50.

Firefox is funny because people think that they're savvy for using it over IE. While it's true it's much better than IE, the difference in bloat, speed, and poor memory management between FF and chrome is even bigger than the difference b/t FF and IE.
Seriously, if you enjoyed the leap from IE to FF, you'll enjoy the leap to chrome even more. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to hit the submit button and within about 1/10th the time that it would take FF, I'll be back on the page reading more comments.

I would have included this as well (from the same website)
Internet Explorer gained over three-quarters of a percent in share (+0.76%) in the United States for the month of May across all operating systems. Internet Explorer 8 grew at a higher rate than any of its competitors with +1.34% increase in share for the month in the United States. IE's share gain came at the expense of Chrome (-0.45%) and Firefox (-0.24%).

At this point if it stands at that price I'm going to have to wait. No rush as it is anyway I have more than enough games to tide me over for a while.

No dice. Too much money. In NZD, it's $211.00, plus taxes, I'm guessing around 230-240? Screw that.

Even in US. A peripheral that costs as much as the console (arcade) it expands is retail suicide. I'll likely skip all motion controls anyway.

I really need some official clarification from Microsoft on how many players Kinect will actually support before I commit to it again. I'm more than willing to pay $150 for Kinect if it means four local players having meaningful interaction with a game.
Dance Central looks soooooo good though ...

I think its a fare price when you look at the fact you dont have to pay for 4 waggle controllers.
I would rather see it at 99 but i think i will still buy at 150

Wow, I can't believe they really think it will sell at that price. It will either be a huge flop and/or come down in price quickly. Is there really much demand for it at that price? I don't see, but time will tell.

@ NBA Kirkland; I can see it not being a runaway success, but it's definitely a competitive price point. It's the same price as PlayStation Move Starter with one additional Move controller. And who's honestly thinking about buying either that doesn't want to play local multiplayer?
It's going to be software that sells both devices, and at least as far as what appeals to my tastes, they both have a pretty solid lineup so far. From what I've seen, Kinect is impressing the usual Wii crowd and Move has been pretty much accepted by the so-called "Hardcore" gamer ... and they're both impressing the heck out of me.

the big problem for me isn't the price of Kinect, it's the price of the games. $60 for a game where there is basically only one mode and it's a party game? If the games are around $20, I'll think about getting Kinect. If not, then I'm fine with the regular 360 controller

$150 is a hard pill to swallow when you compare it to Move's $50 price tag. But what people are forgetting is that with the move you have to continue buying accessories and the Playstation Eye. Even the $100 bundle that includes the Eye, a controller, and a game pretty much requires you to buy another $50 controller separate. The game is the sports game that includes archery which I know requires that second move controller. So you are already spending $150 just for one person to play a game and that is without the navigation controller or another person being able to play.
Not trying to defend Kinect so much but people gotta realize that $150 isn't that bad for never having to buy an accessory for it.

You don't need a second controller for archery. They have yet to announce a game where you have to use 2 move controllers. Although I'm pretty sure you will have a better experience with 2 "moves" u still don't need 2 of them.
This vid showcases all of sports champions using one or 2 move controllers

The cool thing about Move is you have the option to use any dual shock / six axis analogue stick in place of a sub controller. Also, the sub controller is $30 not $50. AFAIK no games require two moves. Also, Kinect only supports two players at a time so that $150 isn't all that different than buying that bundle and an extra move controller and they'll still support the same amount of users.

My bad, I didn't realize that you didn't need 2 controllers for archery for sure. I just saw that ad that shows the player using 2 Move controllers.
To be honest, I haven't even seen anything from Kinect that interests me besides being able to control the dashboard from it. Just wanted to give a different perspective on the price.
