You know, talking about 4 players...
Even though Kinect is pretty expensive, it probably supports 4 players without the need of 4 controllers (as opposed to Wii and PS3)?

Yeah, that's not Microsoft's main competition.

The Wii's audience will look at all the peripherals they already have, the price point of Kinect AND getting one of those smaller 360's, and they'll go right back to playing Just Dance. As evidence at this E3, Nintendo already has a head start on the casual crowd and now that they have them by the figurative balls, they're going back to making the hardcore games.

Who can compete with Nintendo at this point? Answer: No one, they made the game!

MS killed off too much of its own first party studios. I think it's due to its gaming division is not a separate entity like SCE or Ninty but just a division, so suffers more from decisions from higher above

yeah smokey dogg is right

microsoft and sony are both treading on shaky ground. sony is better in the hardware dept, but they really should just focus on quality 1st party titles as that is their strength. MS should focus on leading the online front, and let nintendo take care of the casuals and the nostalgic stuff.

Thats all good and well, but Move games are $40 - Kinect are $60 (These prices are just assumptions by retailers, hope it doesnt stay at $60 and all move/Kinect exclusive games are $40)

If you buy 8 kinect games, thats enough for someone with Move to buy two additional controllers and 8 Move games with no additional cost. So, hopefully Microsoft prices Kinect games at a decent price.

If the game prices that are assumed right now stay, the Kinect is cheap arguement is void.

(This is just an example.. theres only like 5 Kinext games out atm)

I agree. People keep saying that Kinect is expensive at $150, but the Move controllers and PS Eye will add up. I couldn't even imagine paying for controllers for multiple people ($80 each depending on game).

At least Wii had a gradual install base. $60 for Wii mote and Wii play and you are pretty much set for at least 2 players since a Wiimote comes with the system.

Steal a comment from kotaku (sorry OP, forgot your name):

Kinectimals: Hardcore.

Your Kinectimal's species has been hunted to near extinction. Train him to survive by using stealth to sneak past poachers; train him to win by using force to execute poachers and avenge your Kinectimal's fallen brethern.
Includes a complex morality system.

See? Kiddy games? Ha!

forget about price all i care about is how much is MS and 3rd party publishers are going to support Kinect with games that appeal to me.

Move has tremendous amount of support from not only from Sony but 3rd party studios aswell. Heck I don't even have to buy a game when I first buy Move. I have plenty of games that will receive free patches for move support.

I can't say this about Kinect.

@s ls And how much 3rd party support do you think we're going to see for a ridiculously overpriced add-on that also requires games to be specifically designed for it? Basically ZERO.

I was always more intrigued by the Move, because it offers precision. The fact that I'll be able to get 'Move'-ing for just $50 (already have an Eye) is important, but also that there will be patches for some games I already own. I think Sony is going to see a lot of patches to older games and then basically all FPS' moving forward will offer a control scheme for it, which will really drive a lot of people to go out and get a Move. The Kinect on the other hand-- $150 up front cost on top of an Xbox is just way too much, way too much for Kinectimals at least.

@Faenix,

true, but what would really suck was if you actually needed a controller for every player that wanted to join in a Kinect game (so that you can to log-in with your avatar) :O

@BananaBoat,

I wasn't really trying to start anything but a healthy discussion, unless you weren't talking to me?

Anyways... regardless of the price, I don't think I'm getting Move or Natal, motion controls are fun, I don't see it as superior to normal gamepads (or vice-versa).

I'm sure it's already been said elsewhere but hopefully the price is not going to be around 149 considering it's going to fuel sales for Consoles and software.

If it is that high I won't be buying it but I just might be asking for it for Christmas.

For a company that charges you a 200% markup on hard drives and wireless network adapters, and has been steadily raising the price of its operating systems over the past decade, selling kinnect at cost must be a bitter pill to swallow. I wish they actually did price it below cost. I'd buy several just to make them some loss.

It's not that bad a price when you consider the price of multiplayer for competitors.

But without any decent software to back it up this is going to lose a lot of interest.

Here is the problem, I can buy two good games for the price of their the move or kinect. Since I am not made of money and don't plan on dancing by myself, I think I will pass on the motion controls. Seems more like a novelty than a necessity.

However, I think the playstation move looks like something you would find a t a Japanese rave party. In other words, it looks stupid.

The PSN, Wii owners need controllers because they can't go online, personally I only need one Move and one nunchuck. Unless my girlfriend see's it and decides to stop playing her Wii then I'll get another move.

Meh... Price is too steep but I think this thing will sell alot better then people are expecting.

The move is so many little things that its hard to tell which parts you would need to buy for what games as they come out.

Either way the price for the hardware is one time and gamefly for the win.

Well considering it is #2 in video games on Amazon only behind a 12 month Live card, I would say it will sell at $150. Let's be honest though, there will be a price drop not too far after it comes out, especially if the Move shows strong sales. I am going to take the tried and true "wait and see approach," that is until my five year old niece demands that she gets to have a pet tiger cub!

@imeNrique -
Is that for certain? I've heard that Kinect was built for two players, since the processing needed for more people was too much for the original hardware (before Microsoft took over the tech) but with the power of the 360, it could be possible for more than two people to play.

I'm not sure the PS Move can handle four players either. I've heard conflicting reports that it can handle 4 players if the game only used the move controller, but not if each player needs the additional controller (I forget the name) due to a limitation with Bluetooth.

Nothing is locked in stone until these peripherals come out, but really, how often do you get four people standing next to each other in a room playing a motion controller game? The chance of injury goes up pretty substantially, especially for some of the games that require jumping and moving, or swinging vigorously. That isn't to say that I wouldn't enjoy the option, but I don't know how necessary it is.

What kind of math are you doing?

For Kinect, what's the other $60?
And for Move, I understand 2 controllers at $50 each is $100, but what's the $30 and the $80?

Kinect supports two people at once for $150.

Move supports up to four people at once but I have no idea what the bundles will be for multiple controllers including the camera. As far as I know there's just been one mentioned for a Move bundle for $99 that includes the camera, but I think it's just for one person. You do not need the nunchuk because you're still able to use a Dualshock 3 in place of the secondary controller.

I personally think that $150 what this is is ridiculous. There is no way that I'd ever spend that much for a Kinect. Half that? Yeah, I'd bite. But spending that much on what is basically a peripheral is too much to ask. Plus, I didn't see a single game that made me go, "ooohh, gotta have that!"

The more Kinect news that starts to trickle out the worse it looks. Only suppoest two players at a time, requires external power brick on every 360 cept the slim, all Kinect games are priced at regular full retail price of $60, syphons calculations from cpu, noticable input lag and the software catalogue is more casual than Wii. It just looks to me that Kinect wasn't ready for primetime this generation.

Did you read that article?

"Update: PrimeSense has gotten in touch with us to say that it was only the demo software it showed off at E3 that could support only two users, not the hardware itself. Theoretically, with enough processing power, PrimeSense's hardware licensed by Kinect could support any number of players."

You guys are trolling this hard eh?None of us know a darn thing right now. So wait till you have facts to talk smack about it.
