I gotta say Valve is really taking an awesome advantage of Steam going to Mac, and as a Mac user myself, this makes me very happy.

@Shadowbender wonder what they'll do once Steam hits the PS3

Sony should turn of it's social networking and let valve do their thing... We'd have Cross Game Voice Chat, Clan Support, Party Support, Steamcloud and Cross Gaming (PCxPS3) in a matter of days!

@Shadowbender You know I really do hope Steam hits PS3. I mean, I'm not expecting a fully developed service (otherwise that could potentially put PS Store at risk), but with Steamworks being used, I want even more. I've seen Valve always do the impossible, and I'm hoping they do it again.

Then again, since Sony is so interested in downloadable games, why wouldn't they team up with Valve to bring the whole service to PS3. That would be the best route, surely.

i would be excited if their games didn't run like molasses on mac. valve is putting out broken products. a dual core processor with a newer GPU shouldn't chug trying to run half-life 2, which ran perfectly fine on my old pentium 4.

@Laza K It's actually been a long time coming. They announced the update to Counter-Strike Source for PC over a year ago and they announced it for mac at the same time as Steam for mac.

de_dust2 :)

Anyway, I like the update, but I get a sort of jitter when I move my gun left/right. Also, a lot of people are reporting their version of the game being censored (for example, if you kill someone, their body drops to the ground, and they surrender with their hands on their head). Apparently this is only intended for Germans (and any other place that censors games), but some outside those areas are getting this. Overall, I like the update.

This is only $6.80 right now? That's freaking awesome.

I have a 17" MacBook Pro that I purchased new in 2008. Will that run this game very well?

It should since HL2 didn't really pushed PC's when it came out in 2004.

@Scape3d It'll run just fine. For PC and Mac gaming, it's not how recently you bought it, or even how much it cost (especially laptops). It's all about the graphics card, and occasionally the processor.

The 8600M GT is a decent card. A little outdated now, but so are this generation's graphics.

Well, my main question is: Since it is Counter Strike: Source, does it come with the Hammer Editor? Because if it does, it's an instant buy, because i LOVE making the CS maps.

@LordMandos I'm fairly certain it comes with the SDK as long as you buy a Source engine game, which CSS is. So you're in luck.

Yup, I totally agree. As much as I love Valve and all of Valve's games.... CS:S is really tough to play nowadays. People are so damn good, maybe with this sale and the Mac version up and running, more noobs will join and I can feel at home again.

:P

Don't forget to shout every time you die that someone is wall hacking and aim botting. :P

I should start playing again too, though I'm probably super rusty since I haven't played since I stopped messing around with CAL five years ago.

People aren't good it's just that CS:S was way to easy to get head shots and such for some stupid reason.

Stats in Counter-Strike!?!?!

Like persistent tracked stats such as your kill / death ratio!?!?!!?

Am I understanding this correctly, because if so, I think I'm going to get back into PC gaming!
