Now if the NFL would give 2k back some rights..we could get some innovation on the Madden Series.

This sounds ridiculously complex... very much in the simulation vein... I like what EA is doing here, with their "Arcade" series in NBA Jam and their "simulation" series being this.

He seriously ruined the franchise. Made a lot of changes that were really unwelcomed.
More complaints than ever on the message boards and in general. He seriously hurt sales and probably is the greatest factor in why the company has to reinvent themselves; starting with the name.

"And you know how EA promised NBA Elite 11 would rely less on luck for shooting and would instead implement something skill-based"

This is so funny. Why hasn't it been this way from the beginning? This is just another reason why I stayed away from live since Live 06.

I love the fact that they're revamping both the player movement and the shooting mechanic but I just HATE the end-to-end camera angle. The "broadcast" view (sideline) is the only way I can play a basketball game, plus, it feels like you're watching an actual game on TV.

Since there will be no other view available besides end-to-end, I will not be purchasing this game.

Since 2K's had the right stick controls for years, for shots, steals, etc., so how is this all that new?

@Brendan H

And had used the left-stick for dribble moves too.

"For example, in order to do a crossover, you simply push the right stick to one side, then immediately to the other. But for something like a spin move, you push the right stick to one side, then roll it under all the way over to the other side"

Pretty much exactly what you do in 2K, but worse because it's the right stick. In 2K if you pushing up on the left stick, making your guy dribble forwards, then quickly push it back, then forward, you do a hesitation dribble. Same deal with a spin move. It's very fluid. I never like the free style stick of NBA Live, so who knows maybe this will be better. I always liked EAs menus and Dynasty mode better than 2Ks.

@TheMainProtagonist

2K's menu system IS horrendous and their Dynasty mode sucks. I bought 2K10 this past year and I wasn't impressed. I'll wait to play the demo for this but I can see myself going back to the Live... I mean Elite... series this coming season.

I preferred the dribble control in the right stick and using the left stick to control your basket/jump shot tendencies.

It's helps you set something up with one hand and distract them with the other.

@Brendan H 2K's right stick controls were canned animations and were still always tied to 1-on-1, 2- man locked animations.. So were NBA Live's from previous years.

Basketball games took a huge step back in the jump from 16-bit to 32, the one of the few games that really suffered with the jump to more powerful consoles. The lack of control the player has had in a basketball game, for the last 15 years, has been astonishing. Basketball games used to be some of my favorites, and I'll still pick up a 2K basketball game every few years, only to put it down after realizing nothing has changed since NBA Shootout '97.

I disagree with you every year 2k has definitely got better. To date IMO NBA2k10 is the best bball game ever made. But its definitely not with out its problems.

I can't even comment on your ridiculous claim that "nothing has changed since NBA Shootout '97" wow, lol

Too bad people will still overlook this since MJ will be on the cover of 2K

@neal123 Agreed. This game's gameplay has changed dramatically. The gameplay on the last 4 NBA 2K games haven't really changed much. Just really a new cover and roster update.
I think this is a serious step in the biiiiig step in right direction after the horror that was NBA Live 10.

I don't think they will overlook this because MJ is on the cover of 2k. They'll overlook this because it sounds like they've reinvented the wheel by making it into a square. 2k owns BBall just like EA owns NHL.

@(Unverified) Remember, there was a time when NHL 2K was a superior product to EA's NHL series. Then it was rebooted in 2007/2008 and the march to dominance began.

I'm optimistic for this series... I'm not sure if NBA Elite 11 can pull it off in one year, but I'm optimistic for the approach that they're taking... because it will spur 2K to push forward. 2K's changes this year are really minimal, and there's a strong reaction against it ... MJ, that's cool, but like ... Snoop Dog, the other guys? They're just adding star power to the game without making substantial game play improvements... from how it sounds right now.
