Could be an added feature of PSN+....as long as it's included with it with no extra cost.

I assume you mean "no extra cost" in addition to the "extra cost" of subscribing to PSN+?

Hulu is free. I don't see why you'd have to pay extra :P

@NSX Hulu is free on the desktop, though. Netflix is a paid subscription. For Netflix on the 360 all you need beyond a regular netflix account is a Live Gold account. It's not an extra charge beyond what you're already paying. Hopefully Hulu is the same way. Not an extra charge beyond PSN+ or Live Gold.

@Falcon I would like it to be free, too, but tbh, I might be willing to shell out a reasonable amount for this.

Depends how they do it, if they do it like they did iPlayer in the UK and iView in Aus then all it'll be is a icon that links to a web page.
But if they actually make a separate "app" like vidzone that can stream HD and they do the same for iPlayer on PS3, I'd totally dig that, and possibly even pay for it if it were PSN+ only, but would rather it free.

I hope this true. For PSN and/or Xbox Live. W/ Hulu (hopefully) coming soon and Live getting ESPN, I could cancel my cable w/ charter (savages) and just keep my internet!

Please, please, please!

You know what's already on PSN, as well as Xbox 360, Wii, Roku, Boxee, Net-connected Blu-Ray players, and certain brands of toaster?

Netflix. Because Netflix doesn't have their heads up their asses. Seriously. Call me when Hulu stops talking and actually DOES something.

@favian When's the last time you actually looked at their streaming library? Because it's improved a LOT in the last year or so. Sure, Sturgeon's Law ("90% of everything is crap") still applies, but Sturgeon's Law applies to EVERYTHING. Hulu doesn't have any less crap than Netflix, it just has newer crap.

$50 a year for Hulu on my PS3 is worth it, for sure. $50 plus an additional Netflix-like subscription for Hulu on my PS3, however, probably isn't. It'd have to be REALLY good video quality streamed through, and I haven't had that experience with Hulu on my PC. Not for everything, at least.

Just hope whichever platform they hit, they have better quality than they currently do, which just doesn't cut it on an HD set. Netflix HD is the minimum quality they should target.

And one of these services needs to step up with full surround sound. Zune can do it on Xbox, why hasn't Netflix gotten there yet?

I suspect there are too many rumors floating around for Hulu not to eventually hit on multiple platforms. We might see a paid timed exclusive somewhere first, though.

Exactly. The PS3 has a browser that is capable of handling hulu. I know because I used to use it before hulu turned it off.

This is like charging Firefox users for gmail.

If Hulu wants to charge extra for extra stuff, the way they charge PCs, that's fair. Until then, I resent them gimping access to PS3s entirely.

more like charging google chrome users for gmail....

wut they gotta do is just keep hulu like it is on the the comp and basically copy/paste the service on the ps3 of course w/ wutever changes that r necessary to make it more accessible and crap like that

umm psn+? free with psn plus OR free for all - i'll accept nothing else since its still free on computers...

Hulu is a fair replacement for many basic cable TV shows. I do not see this as a big deal. Everyone wants stuff for free these days...the internet needs to make money.

That being said. It MUST be included or it will be a big turn off for many people. Netflix is one thing, but Hulu is limited in its scope (at least for now). I do not want to pay extra subscription fees on top of subscription fees.

It'll be like the new version of "service charges" on cable and phone bills. "Service charge!? I thought I was ALREADY paying for service!?"

@Dustin F Much of which is still owned by "The Big Three" networks. NBC owns US, and pretty sure CBS owns SPIKE. Sony also owns a good chunk of TV shows and movies that don't directly bare the Sony label, which is likely why this deal might happen w/o any timed exclusivity for the 360.

I think if this happens its either going to be included with PSN+, be two-layered for PSN regular who get 480p "free" content and 720p/HD for PSN+, or its own separate service.

@Gandalf the Grey

Why? Everything in life ain't free. Look what stupid XBox owners have to put up with for their yearly subscription fee. They don't even get online gaming for free like PS owners get unless they pay Mr. Gate's toll.

I'm not saying feel lucky, but everyone is in the business to make a profit, and if Hulu is a feature of PSN+, then it makes their subscription fee a little easier to deal with (in addition to all the other things they've said will come with it)

There's a few ways this could go:

1. Hulu is added to PSN+ as a feature and no additional cost (above the already quoted $50/yr PSN+ fee)

2. Hulu is added to PSN+ but requires an additional cost (An extra $5, $10, etc over the $50/yr PSN+ fee)

3. Hulu is available to all PS3 users but requires a subscription fee ($5, 10, etc)

4. Hulu is available to all PS3 users and requires no extra subscriptions

1 makes the most sense.
2 and I'll give Sony and Hulu the finger and tell them what they can do.
3 would be like the MLB service the PS3 already has
4 makes no sense why any for profit business entity would do

I didn't think of that one. And that makes as much sense as #1, at least it would be 'available' to all PS3 owners.

I think that would have more to do with video licensing in Canada. They had to get that worked out before adding that feature. Whereas the USA, they worked out the licensing before the PS3 was released.
