@mairondil Licensing reasonings is exactly why I bet Canada wouldn't get anything out of this. ;)

(and why does Joystiq randomly choose to make my name "(Unverified)" almost every other time I post? I mean, the last time I posted before this article, my name showed up)

@(Unverified)

Have you verified your account?

This joystiq account/comment system sucks. You can truely reply to a reply, you can't change your email address, you can't change your display name

@mairondil I think it has something to do with this new layout screwing things up. I'm pretty sure I verified my account a long time ago, as my name showed up before the change, and also randomly after the change (as I've mentioned).

My RSS feeds for Joystiq PS3 randomly change between things like "Joystiq" and "Joystiq PS3" and it keeps on jumping back between the two names. But seriously, everything was working fine before. I don't get why they needed to change anything.

@(Unverified)

There's no longer a Joystiq PS3, and you are usually able to fix the unverified problem by "signing out" and "signing in" on the top-left of the page.

And there were a bunch of problems before the change, none of which seemed to get fixed :/

Still looks awesome though.

I wouldn't have a problem with Hulu coming to the PS3 as long as Sony remembers what the gaming industry is about, (remember thine roots) and not pull a Microsoft by providing a ton of features instead of games, then I will be fine with this.

Games come first and nothing else!

@TOYBOXX I think Sony and Microsoft both envisioned that their gaming systems would give them a foothold in homes allowing them to become media hubs for any form of entertaintainment... movies, television, music, videos, and pictures. It's conceivable they could offer DVR support (The technology behind U-Verse is Microsoft. Sony has already made a Playstation DVR in the past). And they could someday replace cable boxes (Microsoft was playing around with IPTV in the UK). So I wouldn't be surprised if they offered more than gaming, however I don't see these options getting in the way of gaming, but merely appealing to more members of the family (or anyone outside of gaming) and offering companies like Sony and Microsoft the ability to generate additional (and likely steady) revenue.

Well, what would be fair is that if the + users got an ad-free version of Hulu, and the unpaid PSN users also got Hulu, only it has ads just like the web-version.

PLEASE GOD!!!! I've been begging for PS3 to get HULU for the past 2 years! I even made it a suggestion on the PS Blog - Share website. It would be SWEET if it came to everyone for free..but seeing how HULU is about to charge for their service I would HAPPILY sign up for PSN+ if HULU was included.

If SONY could've had the deal done by E3 they would've stole the show IMO (along with all the exclusive games they announced).

SONY....HULU....MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!

Yes, I agree completely. It would have been something like:

MS: We have ESPN, nice huh?

Sony: WE HAVE HULU BITCHES *drops the mic*

My guess? It will be on PS+ and require and additional fee. And then all the PS3 fanboys will no longer criticize MS for charging for Gold live service because of it.

Who am I kidding? PS3 fanboys will say, "Haha, we pay more and we GET more."

@Deezul AwT

Isn't XBox Live Gold $50/yr? That's the same prices as PSN+

With XBox, you pay to play (online).
With Sony, you pay for extras, Play(online) is still free.

I seem to recall Hulu discussing a fee based service some time ago that was coming. I suspect that's what this is all about, much like how you subscribe to Netflix. Perhaps they could bury that into existing fees (PSN+, Xbox Live), but I have my doubts about that.

Also, I think people will balk at having to pay for Hulu once it becomes a charge service, because it's been free to date, but I'm guessing the preimum content will be greater than the free content or the free content will slowly go way.

Netflix and now Hulu? The system is not going to be called a 'PLAY'station for much longer at this rate!

why pay for a free service (hulu is free on the PC, and WAS free on the PS3 browser) that would be like saying... heres free content that youve already seen us do on the PS3.... but now were gonna charge you!!! what could they possibly benefit from that?

i can already stream Hulu on my PS3 with Squid (for free) or you can pay for PlayOn and stream TONS of networks to your ps3 and 360... sooo again... whats the fuss about?
