OK, OK smart guy, we get it. E3's been over for a week and you haven't heard so much as a peep from us. We all made some mistakes. But if you think about it, aren't you, the listener, as much to blame, in a sense? ... No? Well, it was worth a shot.
If you still care what we think (or if you want to hear a lengthy explanation of our new review scoring system), you're in for a treat. Special thanks to Alan Black for his photoshop sequel, 11 years in the making.

I oppose the Star rating for game reviews. Can't it just be thumbs up or thumbs down?

Thumbs up or thumbs down is so general though. You're saying either "Yes, play this" or "no, skip this". There's no degrees between "this game is shitting awesome everywhere!" and "is fun for a weekend" then. Or what about games that are incredibly solid and polished but have been done already? Stars are good, gives room for "it's kinda fun", "great with a mate", "must buy", and "it'll grow on ya" scores instead of just mixing them all together.

I dont see why you need to know more than "This game is worth playing" or "This game is not worth playing".

How about this? You do thumbs up thumbs down and then if its thumbs down list alternative games that you think provide the same experience but are more worth playing?

If the reviewer likes it enough to recommend you play it , thumbs up. Reviews are never gonna be anything but an opinion.

Thumbs up or down works with multiple reviewers who have different perspective. Then you look at what kind of reviewer gave up or down. A single reviewer will match the perspective of only a portion of the audience.
Even Ebert, who thumbs down video games as a whole, has an alternative reviewer's thumb to expand the appeals of his reviews.

Random sidebar on futurestiq. I finally downloaded Firefox at work, but it'd still be nice if the 'submit' button would actually appear when I use IE. As it is here now, I'm unable to comment at work via explorer because the button doesn't even appear.
Also, It'd be nice if comments & replies had more horizontal separation between them, seems to me they're too close together right now and kind of blur together.
Thank you dear podcast for making the rest of Friday at work tolerable.

Debating which motion controller is best for casual games is pointless. Real gamers don't give a crap about any of them.

Nice podcast, haven't gone through all of it yet, but I have to disagree on the Move being such an abject failure. Sure, it doesn't have the level of casual appeal that Kinect is picking up, but I've heard several people say that the conference made them become interested in the Move when they weren't before. I'm one of those people.
I know they probably don't look very cool, but, at least for me, I don't think about how I look when I game. I'm more interested in what I experience when I play. On that note, playing The Fight in 3D sounds wonderful, actually, once the price goes down. Instead of swinging at the air and seeing it happen on screen, maybe I can swing at the image of my opponent popping out of the screen. The Move can even give a little bit of tactile feedback when my fists connects with his virtual skull. That would be cool.
The wider array of game types available for the Move are what draw me in the most. There is support for games I own (eg. Heavy Rain) and new IP's that aren't totally casual and might have promise (eg. Sorcery), in addition to the more casual material that can be useful with friends who aren't usually into gaming. Support for FPS's might also be interesting because I know some people swear by the Wii control in Resident Evil. So even though I'm terrible at FPS's, I can give it a try and see if I'm any less horrendous with a new set of controls.
Anyway, I think that it has a lot to offer the existing owners. Sadly, that doesn't make it a system seller. However, it is a nice addition for those of us who are already sold on the ps3. It's times like these that help maintain the illusion that Microsoft is just interested in profit and that Sony actually cares about our gaming experience. Sure, it's just an illusion, but it's a nice one to believe in once in awhile.

They were saying Ubisoft's Your Shape was one of the interesting games that Microsoft had for Kinect... Not everyone shares that opinion:
Proof that Kinect isn't really as accurate as Chris thinks: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-e3-2010/700825
Also, I agree that Sony had more hardcore games developed for the show than Microsoft did for Kinect. That's a clear sign of what audience Kinect is meant for, and it's not us.

Yeah, I felt the same way going through the rest of the podcast. I thought E3 was pretty good overall, with some exceptions that were at least good for a laugh in the GT video. Now I'm feelin' a little down.
I know, I'll watch Kevin Butler's inspirational speech as a pick-me-up!
