Confused.

The original is on Virtual Console, also. And it's in English! :D

@RadiXe - Umm... because it's a game co-developed with Nintendo?

On another note, the game looks unbelievable. I'm a huge Treasure fan, and having watched extensive gameplay videos, this looks like the best game they've ever made. Which means that it's basically going to be the best rail shooter ever made.

Also, a small note - I probably wouldn't put House of the Dead in this same genre, as I feel they're quite different. Sin and Punishment is much more akin to Star Fox.

People like you are the number one cause of many third party hardcore games not doing well on the Wii. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy brought into the world by fanboys as well as developers and marketers who think the console isn't worth it because it's not freaking HD.

@RadiXe Why on Earth is this on the Wii??? Have you ever suffered the hand cramps of trying to control the first game? The Wii control setup is IDEAL for this game.

Well, shit. I was going to wait this game out, but this review is going to make me use my $20 Amazon credit to buy it. Stop holding the gun to my head, JC! :P And with this Steam sale... another rough week where I thought I wasn't going to buy anything.

Am I the only one that ever wished to be in an accident where I cannot walk for a while so I can miss work and catch up on my humongous backlog of games?

Even better: an accident where you cannot walk AND have the privilege to sue some jerk for it and get loads of $$$ to pay for a month's worth of new games... medical bills are overrated.

This game looks cool, but I have to remind myself that I can not play shooters at all, and I won't see more than two levels of it.

Yeah because the only games worth it to go to retail are big burly space marine shooters, or war themed FPSes. This game has kids in it. That obviously means it should be a $10 downloadable. Also there should be no good games exclusive to the Wii, because the Wii has no good exclusives. Duh.

I'm so glad Treasure made a spiritual sequel to Sin & Punishment. Got my copy pre-ordered so I'll also get the special S&P:SS 500 Nintendo Points card & the online-only poster.

Umm well technically this game isn't a "spiritual successor" to S&P..

It's a totally direct sequel even made by the same developer..

Being published and having the IP owned by Nintendo is definitely a start towards exclusivity.

Does it have the deliciously contorted story of the original?

Does it have the annoyingly impossible "There's a missile coming towards you. Kill it!" section?

It has an impaled girl who rolls off a thirty foot spike to land on her feet undamaged.
I think I missed playing the level that explains this universe in the first one.

This game will be repetitive, frustrating, and a total of two-three hours long.

So it is going to be amazing from all indications.

It's in on the short list for my Game of the Year, even before it comes out.

"Star Successor never slows down, never stops going overboard"

You can never have too much overkill!

Without doubt this is the best game I own on the Wii. I think it might have even topped Panzer Dragoon Zwei, Orta, and Space Harrier as my favourite rail-shooter ever.

Stage three - the second screen-shot - if filled with so many highlights. It really is difficult to explain away the glory of that stage. It's, I don't know, a rare thing of beauty. Every single frame has been carefully thought out.

Towards the end of that stage there's a boss battle with a heavy tetris element. The boss stage is around four or five minutes, and it's a masterpiece.

Sin and Punishment 2 makes me sad though; you don't get games like this anymore. If you fail it's your fault entirely. And you know it's your fault. And you know with practice you can master the game. It's firm but fair. And brilliant.

Treasure never disappoints! All they need to do now is remake Guardian Heroes for XBLA and they are instantly the developers of the century.

Guardian Heroes... Hell yes...

Though I wouldn't mind seeing a total remake of Guardian Heroes. I play it every now and again, and I can't help but feel it could use a few upgrades.

@TwEE - the second player just gets a pointer. Which is a little bit disappointing, but much better than the "one player controls the character while the other one shoots!" mode of the first Sin and Punishment.

Ikaruga was a short game too, but full retail release. These games have the difficulty and the replayability to make a retail release work. I know i've finished Ikaruga dozens of times, and it took me days to finish it the first time.
