Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR) has released a report listing various attention metrics from gamers from two sites, GameTrailers and IGN.com, regarding the most "popular" titles from E3. We put "popular" in quotes there because these stats are for things like trailer streaming and page views rather than a scientific survey -- this is a general feel of the zeitgeist on these two specific sites rather than a comprehensive view of what gamers thought of E3.
But there are interesting things to note even in this limited set of stats, especially when you compare it to our own anecdotal show floor and "chatter" data from you commenters. We heard from quite a few of you during the show that Nintendo's press conference was the most popular event, and this list agrees. Likewise, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was one of the most popular titles on the show floor, and there's no shortage of Link representation here. Kirby's Epic Yarn is probably the biggest unannounced-before E3 title on the lists, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 captured a lot of attention -- not much was revealed at the show itself, but it was placed front and center on the floor of the West Hall.
At the same time, there are some weird conclusions here. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, an expansion which didn't even make an appearance at E3, registered in the top 20 in the GameTrailers stats and Red Dead Redemption, a game that's already out, picked up spot No. 8 on IGN's Page Views list of big E3 titles. EEDAR also notes that the Nintendo 3DS didn't rank on any of these lists, but given the lines at the Nintendo booth to see it, the new handheld garnered plenty of attention. So you can't really bank on these titles yet. But if you're interested, you can check out EEDAR's top 10 in each category after the break.

I'm not a Sony fan, but I wouldn't write anything off as a failure until its released. There are so many fanboys out there that Sony could easily get the development costs of this device (PS Move) back and make a profit. because the device is really not all that special and probably cost far less to develop than the Wii and Kinect individually, because Sony already had the failed PSEye the controller is nothing more than a modified PS3 controller, the only thing that probably had much R and D put into it was the control software.

Kevin Butler did do wonders for Sony's marketing but even he may have problems pushing the Move. I don't think many people are gonna wanna pay all that cash just to control the same games in a different way, so it all depends on exclusive Move software to push this thing so it doesn't look like Sony's Wii. Also, I have zero interest in Kinect right now.

Well I don't see anybody being real interested in either of the devices at this point in time. Kinect is one of those ones people look at, scratch their heads and go "Its an interesting concept but how well does it work outside of control scenarios." The move is nothing more than Sony's version of the Wii controller, yes its more accurate in comparison to the Wii but I would hope so considering the tracking isn't being sent across BlueTooth and the system is 1000x more powerful, but fact of the matter is other than being prettier than the Wii in the way of graphics its nothing special, Wii could release hard core games if they wanted, and a few have been released, the problem is these few that have been released have been concluded by many, including hard core gamers, to end up being far more violent than stick controller based games because of the fact that you're acting out the actions. Nintendo also doesn't directly support this kind of activity in games, and thus the reason why Nintendo corporation doesn't contract for such games to be made, they don't restrict development of them or refuse to licence them though. People might say that the reason why GTA4 wasn't on the Wii was because Nintendo told Rockstar they felt the game was inappropriate for their system, this is true, but the real reason why GTA4 wasn't developed was Rockstar was whoring the game out to all 3 systems for development money, Sony and Microsoft both paid for GTA4 to be released on their respective consuls, Nintendo refused to pay them for a game. Rockstar released Manhunt 2 and Bully on the Wii, both of which weren't financed through platform backing. Manhunt 2 is considered one of the most violent games released on the Wii because of the interactive play style.

@3dpenguin Its so absolutely pointless to look at page impressions and to try and work out popularity .. It actually means nothing as page hits will be increased by commentors having flame wars..
You also forget one other important thing, The Move was detailed in GDC a few months earlier. We had no need to revisit the information, only to view the trailers of the upcoming games for it. Also by and large , apart from the few dildo jokes around the move it has been widely accepted by gamers.. Its performance has been shown to be really good and the software line up, games like Time Crisis , Socom , Killzone 3 with full move support will make it a success..
Kinect has by and large been ridiculed.. Sure it may have received more page hits, but each time a comment is posted its regarded as a page hit.. It doesnt necessarily mean that the product is a success, would it not be also wise to try and work out the percentage of comments ridiculing the kinect vs the % that actually really like the product ? I think that would probably provide better insight...
I think the most apt description of it has been Eye toy 2.0 .. Any outsider looking at the games being presented would be able to directly correlate it with the eyetoy, in fact most of its games collections have been absolute train wrecks ...

They can, but they won't. and therein lies where Sony will hopefully pick up some of the slack.

This data means absolutely nothing. They are taking page hits from 2 sites. I'm not saying the Move is going to be a hit, WINterfang is right, they have to promote it better.
Unless you are HC, you have no idea that the Move or Kinect for that matter even exists.

IGN is one of the top viewed game related sites on the net, and seeing that Sony isn't far behind Microsoft in instal base there shouldn't be that big of a difference based on instal base views. I think the problem comes from the fact people saw video of the PSMove in action and went hey that looks nice, then they see the controler in use and go, I did that 4 years ago with the Wii. People just don't see it as ground breaking.

- First of all, did you see the Kinect presentation? I watched BOTH and I came away believing the PSMove is more accurate, reliable, and is aimed at the hardcore audience. I hope Kinect is great and it works out, because I might get it.

@3Dpenguin,
You are right, it's not ground breaking. Then again, I don't see Kinect as ground-breaking either. Most of what the Kinect can do was introduced with the EyeToy several years ago and it went nowhere.
Thus, the luke warm reception of both.
I for one, am excited about the Move. I hate playing games on the Wii. I don't like the looseness of the controls and the graphics suck. The only thing it has is old ladies and small children. An untapped market until the Wii came about.
I've only heard great things about the Move. It's precise and fast and that's what I'm looking for.

Actually most of what Kinect does was introduced back in the late 90s through automated motion tracking software used by Hollywood. The Kinect, which I'm not even considering supporting right now, uses a RGB camera and then a set of stereoscopic cameras for tracking, making it much more precise than the EyeToy, the problems with the Kinect isn't the hardware its the software. The technology its based on isn't designed to do real time interpolation, its designed to do calculated interpolation, and calculations take time. The technology would be great for a hands free control browser but unless the proper software is developed it would be useless for real time anything, Microsoft seems to have developed a software that can somewhat do this, but if the playback lag is as high as they say it is its going to be pretty much useless for any serious gaming developments and will be stuck doing pre-rendered none time based scenarios, e.g. bowling, rail combat, etc.

Thats because there is no such thing as a scientific poll/tracking on the internet. They are just too easy to screw up. You want a scientific poll of what people are interested get yourself a bunch of people and sit them outside of every best buy and gamestop in the world and ask the consumers directly, then collate the information, it might not be perfect, and it might not be cheap, but it would be far more accurate.

I find it interesting that even with the pressure on bringing out enw IP's and innovation every single one of the top 10 for GameTrailers is a sequel, a remake or part of a huge franchise.

It just shows what our generation encourages in the gaming industry...
Don't get me wrong, I love most of the big sequels that come out - but find it very disappointing that the only innovating thing we encourage is more features in systems that don't have much to do in games - and building upon working franchises instead of breaking out with a new game with the accumulated data of what people liked and disliked.
Now our most innovative games are extremely modern-artish or hardly sell at all. ...I don't mind the modern-arty stuff, I just wish we'd try new ideas beyond abstract design.
