WHOA!

Did I miss the boat or something or is that like a score at the bottom of the review? Yay for star scores. They actually seem to make sense. :)

Sounds like an American 'Cryostasis'. I'll play it someday; too busy at the moment.

@ch3burashka

You mean, minus the good story?

The whole selling point of Cryostasis -- at least, for me -- is the story. From every review I've read, this story is pretty garbage. I'm buying Singularity (Amazon shipped my pre-order today), don't get me wrong, I just don't think it's an apt comparison simply because they both feature Russians.

Well, I just posted a comment about me complaining about review scores and some other new features of new Joystiq. But apparently the censorship is even worse than before. I can't even say "the F word" with little asterisks in between. Great job!

And yes, I know I'm a bit late on the review score thing... But this is the first review I've looked at since

I currently have Timeshift gamefly'd, and haven't had time to finish up the campaign. Not sure I'll get to this anytime soon, but I definitely will get to it... in time.

So, another workmanlike effort by Raven, with the only twist being that it's not using an id engine.

I like Joystiq has a review score. Now I can just scroll down to the bottom and see the score and make my judgement of the game.

Not sure about the 5 star system, only cause on Metacritic, this review is listed as 60/100. Sort of want this game though

@Blops

I'm confused, 3/5 is 60/100. What exactly are you unsure of? :o

@ArQuesta
Because 3/5 seems a lot better than 60/100.
Clearly, it's the same, but if you look at G4 scores 3/5 is OK whereas on Metacritic it's only fair.

You guys missed an opportunity by not using 3 Joystiqs out of 5... or one megatron out of 10...

sigh why the change to arbitrary number system? I respected that you would have your review do the talking instead of this number system.

metacritic and it rating aggregates suck. as they are used in every damn flame war between games not even in the same genre and even developers are having their bonuses tied to them, which invite so much begging. the marketers and companies shunning you for a reasonable score which they require either a 4 or 5 stars otherwise you are not invited to a sneak peek. there is no need for this and i think joystiq should revert back.

on the review seem like a interesting premise with bad execution. too bad really. i subscribe to the nintendo line of thought. Build gameplay first and work on it till it smooth and fun. then build a story around it. gameplay can sustain a game while story will not. i will probably look to in steam when it goes on sale

@(Unverified) I can't agree with your last part at all. What about KOTOR? Mass Effect? FF13? All of those games would be barely worth playing without their stories.

The combat in ME was bleh (don't get me started on the mako), but the story was indeed awesome. That nearly makes up for it.

Geez people, doesn't anybody listen to the podcast? They explained in depth and very reasonably why they added stars. Maybe they oughta make a post about it, but like they said in the podcast, it doesn't take anything away. If you want to read the review like always, just dont scroll past the last words

The fact that you used the word "raddest" in the review automatically makes this the best review ever.

I think that singularity deserves at LEAST 4 out of 5 stars... The gameplay is very versatile in the sense that you can just rampage through a whole bunch of Soviet Union soldiers using a high powered Minigun, transform a soldier into a Revert and watch it butcher other enemies and finally just drop it easily with two or three shots (SCORE). The T.M.D's Deadlock is definitely a huge life saver, especially when suicide phase ticks swarm you in the hundreds. The T.M.D's object grabbing function reminds me of Dead Space, but I thought that it was pulled of really well. The variety of intense combat and scavenging periods helps immerse you into the situation, and the fact that Singularity has three different endings makes it even better. The Unreal Tournament engine was the perfect engine to use - it basically made the game... So people go out and buy this game, or lend it from a friend because you will enjoy manipulating time, solving puzzles and dropping a variety of twisted mutations with futuristic E99 powered weapons in this First Person Shooter.....
