Blacklight: Tango Down goes up July 7 [update]

If Guybrush's hunt for the Big Whoop leaves you wanting something more visceral, you'll be glad to hear he won't be alone on Wednesday, July 7: The punny pirate will arrive alongside Zombie Studios' Blacklight: Tango Down (1200 MSP / $15) on XBLA, says Microsoft.

We wouldn't be surprised to see Zombie's multiplayer shooter on PC and PSN that week, as well.

Update: Blacklight has been removed from the press release (see source), and Microsoft's previously published release date for the XBLA title is now in question. A spokesperson for Ignition Entertainment, the game's publisher, told Shacknews that Blacklight has "not received a release date." We've reached out to Ignition and Microsoft for further clarification.

Update 2: A representative for Ignition tells us, "There's still no confirmed release date for Blacklight. We saw all the posts saying it's the 7th ... but we really don't know if that will be the date. We should know later this week when the official launch will be. Officially, we are saying 'summer' until further notice."

Update 3 [7/6/10]: Ignition has confirmed Blacklight's July 7 release on XBLA. The PSN and PC versions will follow "in the coming weeks."

This game looks awesome for only $15.

@RustyJack If MAG taught me anything: it's that it doesn't matter how well executed a multiplayer-only game is, if no one plays it, it will be unusable.

MAG died after about three months in the time slot I play it.

That said, this looks painfully generic.

I'd definitely do a wait and see on this one.

So I have no clue what you're talking about, MAG isn't dead at all
Dead would mean it's hard to get into games, no one to play against, and lately I've been getting into games almost as soon as joining a queue.
I'm sure there must be less players now, but MAG is nowhere near dead, just saying.

That said I'll be getting Blacklight just cause my family is, and we all have PS3's so it should be fun.

I will definately be playing the demo for this game before buying, its either going to be awesome or tedious. If its amazing well worth a buy at $15.

no dedicated servers for PC - don't waste your time.

You really don't lose much without dedicated servers as long as their social connectivity is good. Really all you lose at that point is custom stuff like server mods and custom levels. And that's not always true either.

you lose a lot more lag issues, the ability to choose your matches more easily, and of course any ability to mod the game (which many dont care about). Not to mention you lose a lot of potential players.

A generic 3PS? No thanks. Too many other cool games coming up - save your money for Summer of Arcade.

I'm very interested in this because of it being 15$ and looks fantastic on all platforms it's coming out on.

I'll be getting on pc, unless some freak accident happens, then ps3.

I'm so on the fence about this one, I really like what I've heard but I haven't heard anything about the killspeeds, etc.

Considering the entire game is included and has 12 maps all for the price of one map pack in MW2, I'd say it's a pretty good deal! If thr game's good of course.

I think it looked pretty neat from the developer preview. Not like I need more addictive multiplauer games to play or anything. But I'll certainly give it a shot!

i hope they fix the weird looking iron sights, then i might pick it up.

I had a chance to play this while at E3 and it was a lot of fun. I'm not sure if there was one game that I could say it was most like. It had a mixture of a lot of games but it played and handled really well once you got a hang of it.
