Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep trailer features fighting, floating PSPs
28
Just past the break, we've got a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, which highlights the PSP title's trio of protagonists: Aqua, Ventus and Terra. As you'd imagine, their keyswordthingy skills are without equal -- except when directly compared to each other, we guess. So where were we?
Oh, right, the trailer -- you can see it yourself just past the break. And if you're wondering what all of the hubbub is about, you probably haven't read our E3 preview yet. Don't worry, we won't hold it against you ... for now.

Wait, Ventus? Color me confused but I could have sworn his name was Roxas.

Same face, different character. Makes about as much sense as the rest of the series.

That explains Roxas being in this, but what about Zack Fair being in this?

I was making a joke about the second character on the trailer (Terra) looking like a clone of Zack Fair. Not that Zack is actually in the game. Cool if he is though.

That trailer could have really used the EPIC "Sanctuary" theme or even "Simple and Clean"... Without either one, it was kinda boring. I believe the song used may have been an instrumental version, but it was nowhere near as exciting.

Aqua and Terra. Fantastically unique. I applaud the brilliance and fear the inevitable fanart and possible use in internet fetishes.
On a side note this trailer could've used more Hamill and/or Nemoy. I am not joking when I say that's where my main interest in this game stems from. That and new Disney locations since it was the childish and fun way Squeenix linked my childhood Disney heroes with spikey hair and straps that got me interested in the series in the first place.
My love for the series does not stem from any of the mullet-cursed villians that Nomura so loves. This game is going to have to accomplish a lot as a handheld iteration to make me forget the shortcomings of KHII.

Ya, because Squall, Cloud, Terra, Locke, and Kain were all deeply original names. The FF series has been ripe with direct references from name to character. This just follows suit.

KH isn't really that confusing. Just understand there's a keyblade that keeps worlds disconnected / connected. Monsters are called heartless. Someone with a strong personality becoming a heartless creates a by-product called a Nobody. Nobody's are missing heart so they crave it, and seek to create Kingdom Hearts because it represents ultimate power, the ability to do anything (so for them, to feel again). Just think of KH as Dragon Balls, where everyone wants them for their own gain and reason. That's it in a nutshell.
I guess the only confusing thing is understanding how all the characters are connected, like DiZ, Namine, the organization, etc. But these gaiden games are doing a good job of filling that gap and understanding.
Gotta remember the demographic is children and tween Nippons. That means detail is so not important, just an understanding or feeling for what it is. A lot is kind of open to interpretation for details.
...so i guess your Lost comparison is accurate.

Did anyone else notice that the release date in this trailer said 10/9/10, as October 9, as in a month later than than Squeenix said it would be released?

I laugh at you for believing release dates by Square-Enix more than a week away.

Actually, nevermind! I realized this was a European trailer, not a US one.
