Aliens vs. Predator gets Bughunt Map Pack DLC July 7
15
The problem with the struggle between the Aliens and Predators is that both are pretty equally matched: Predators have a lot of technology and stand about 200 feet tall (give or take a couple hundred feet), while Aliens have greater numbers and acidic blood that could eat through a truckload of fruitcake in milliseconds. Humans have -- uh, actually, we just have soft, fertile bodies and aesthetically-pleasing skull shapes. Talk about your bum deals, right?
But for those who like to roleplay as one of the aforementioned extraterrestrial species, know that Sega is deploying some DLC for Aliens vs. Predator in the form of the Bughunt Map Pack. Available on July 7, the DLC adds 4 brand new maps: two for Deathmatch, Predator Hunt, Infestation, Species Deathmatch, Mixed Species Deathmatch and Domination, and two for the game's Survival mode -- each featuring new environmental hazards and weather effects. The new maps are called "Crash Site," "Furious," "Tempest" and "Monument"
Look for the Bughunt Map Pack on July 7 on PSN, Xbox Live and Steam for $6.99 (560 Microsoft points). If you're looking for something a bit more on the free side, then check out the stills in our gallery below and click past the break for a teaser trailer.

Does anyone even still play this?
It was fun for 5 minutes but I can see online being pretty dead by now.

Is anyone still playing this game? If they really wanted to grow their software base, they should have released the first few DLC for free (oh and fixed the real bugs). What I would really like to see is something that actually changes the formula slightly-- like a exoskeleton for the Marines, deployable sentry guns, new innovative gameplay modes that take advantage of the license, upgradeable weapons, and being able to pull a "Ripley" (duct taping a flamethrower to a pulse rifle).

This was once my most anticipated game. I even went out and bout the Hunter Edition, but man did it end up sucking. The online multiplayer was nearly broken and the choices they gave you with online play was terrible. A shame too, considering how great AVP2 was for PC.

I too was disappointed with it. I played AvP2's multiplayer for years. It had excellent customization and that's what kept me in the game. This new game just felt half-assed in the multi department. The single player was fairly enjoyable, but the multiplayer experience was sad.

I had quite a bit of fun playing online with this game, but the only character that I really enjoyed playing as was the Alien. The game did get annoying fast though, mainly due to the horrible matchmaking on the 360. It would literally sometimes take 10 minutes or more in between matches while the game searched for players. And that was right after the game came out. The last time I tried to play a month or so ago, there was hardly anyone even playing the game anymore.
Also worth noting, I have the hunter edition that came with the 1st map pack. I put over 20 hours into the online MP, and never once was put in a match with any of the DLC maps in ranked MP... I think they should have fixed the matchmaking before going ahead with more DLC. I will probably pass on this.
