Club Nintendo Gold and Platinum awards announced

Here's what you've been buying Nintendo games all year for! Well, hopefully you've been buying Nintendo games because you want to play them, but here's the secondary reason: Nintendo announced the Platinum and Gold Elite Status Gifts for North America's Club Nintendo.

Those who reached Gold status (300 coins or more since last July) get a calendar, and Platinum status holders (600 coins or more) get this neat Mario figurine thing. To claim your reward, you have to sign into Club Nintendo and provide a shipping address. The prizes will ship by the end of this year, according to Nintendo.

And now ... the process begins again. It's time to start registering games for next year, like that copy of Sin & Punishment you were just about to buy.

I've made gold status the last two years and I was hoping this year would be something better then the lame calendar. Don't get me wrong, I love Club Nintendo, the US "rewards" you can "buy" w/ your CN-points are actually pretty neat, I got my kids some really cool DS game/styli cases and they are well put together and look really great. And, of course, they don't have to do anything like this at all......

But damn those figurines are neat looking, I'd love to have that thing to display on my desk w/ all my other cool little gaming knick-knacks. But alas, twas not to be. Curse you people that made Platinum!

Snagged the statue. It's surprisingly big, now that I think about it-- 4in by 5in (diameter) isn't that bad. It'll look good on my desk, in between Meer Campbell and Seolla Schweizer. (....don't look at me like that.)

However, it'd have been nice to not have to choose. I mean, I don't really need the calendar, and it's not that big of a deal, really, but... I don't know, maybe I'm just greedy. Incidentally, is it just me, or does anyone else think Nintendo could be offering more games and suchlike through the club? I like the Game & Watch stuff, but there could be more, I think. Again, that might just be greed talking, but an 'exclusive' storefront for club members wouldn't be that bad of an idea, would it?

I've got more wii game than the two HD systems, but signing up for points on that site was just so convoluted and broken. Maybe they've improved since launch month, but it just wasn't worth the hassle for me.

I'll admit it was REALLY slow the first two months of the US launch but it got better.

It is really slow today so it looks like they never really fixed the bandwidth issues.

IIRC they said about figurines: "It ain't real unless you can see the pantsu." (c) Green Green.

Looks like I got to Platinum Status for no reason.
Last year they gave away a Mario Hat, this year crap.

Am I odd that I'd prefer something practical over that statue? At least with the hat, I got to use it in a Halloween costume.

Oh yay. Another calendar.

Come on, Nintendo. At least try to give Gold members something that at least makes us believe we're good enough for you, even if you're only faking.

I just hoard all of my points cards till I'm fairly sure I have enough to get platinum. I missed last years, but I had enough for this year.

I want a couch pig figurine next year please.

The website is crazy slow. It also says I made Plat status when I'm pretty sure I in fact did not.

Maybe my bitter e-mail to them last year about getting a $2 made in china hat as a reward did something........

I'm sure this plat reward has extra lead in the paint. MMMMMM lead.

Yes, it's all messed up right now. I have over 600 pts, but go to the order page and it says I don't qualify.

@tinyjr - Yeah, it's messed up in the same way for me. I earned Platinum status, and it says I didn't even earn Gold status ='(

@Nook Considering all the people trying to redeem their prize, I'm not surprised. I'd say wait a little bit for things to calm down.

Statue will go well with my new game room which is decked out in Nintendo posters I got from the rewards club....though I wish this was a little bigger.

Do you have to spend the coins you've earned over the year because they reset, or can you save them up to roll over into next year or something? I assume you have to spend them?

I have yet to spend a single coin. I've saved up well over 1600 since the rewards program started. They don't reset.

Only the points for Gold and Platinum status reset.

Why not spend 5 minutes on their FAQ? It was put up for a reason you know.

Oops, the coins apparently do expire now. I seem to recall reading on their site that they never do. Maybe it's time for a new pair of glasses.

The figurine is all good but really the question everyone should be asking is:

'Will it blend?'

I only have 590 points, I could of got 600 if I registered my copy of Spirit Tracks 1 day earlier so I could do the post-play survey before the dead line.

I have my statue ordered, and it will go rather nice with my DQ Slime & Bee Mario plushies. I can't wait!

people club nintendo and nintendo.com r gettin slammed i just got off the phone with them so relax on it (tho i did get platinum :D ) but its sayin i didnt even get the status so since everyone and there mother wanted to jump on all at oonce its just best to wait a bit oh all stuff will be sent out in oct/nov said the lady from nintendo

I can't even log in to the website. Everyone is trying to claim their reward all at once. I got platinum and it feels good :)

I've got platinum two years in a row, and it's just from buying games I would have anyway.

I think it's great that they have a rewards program like this, I mean they don't have to give us anything but they do. : )

Been having some trouble trying to claim the figurine. First, the page to redeem it says I wasn't eligible (I am), and now it's saying I've already redeemed it. I'm going to chalk it up to their server being overloaded with people trying to redeem their rewards for now, but if it persists, I'm going to be quite upset.

So glad I did some last minute point gathering to get Platinum status. I'm really enjoying Club Nintendo and hope they maintain this level of quality for the next... well... forever :)

And next year should be even easier to stock up on points, the new Metroid, 3DS (with Nintendo titles like Star Fox 64 and Kid Icarus), Sin and Punishment 2 (looks pretty cool, now I'll have to go download the first one...) and of course the new Donkey Kong and Kirby games... I'll have the required 600 coins/points easily.

Eh? I'm suppose to be Platinum since I have over 600+ coins. I'm struck with Gold. What's with it?

It matters when you earned the coins. I have over 700, but only 610 that count for this calendar year.

Sweet. I just made 600 coins this year.

I'll have probably another 300 or so to start off this year with all the surveys I still gotta take. (O.o)

Nintendo released games last year?

I only found out about this 2 weeks ago because of a tweet from Richard Mitchell. I had so many points that I didn't even know existed :P. Went from 0 to 600 in one day. Thanks Richard!

That pretty well pisses me off. I was 30pts short and I had S&P2 ordered from Amazon as I had a $20 credit and it didn't come before the 1st so now I get a crappy calendar. Like the first poster said, I'd trade in my non-wearable hat for this as I'd WANT this on my work desk. >:[ grr

You guys need to chill out. Obviously the site is overloaded with all the people logging in. It's day 2...you have 29 more days to log in and get the reward. They shut the site down because it's overloaded. Calling up to "bitch" doesn't help, it makes you an ass. They know there is a problem and they are working to fix it.
