Isn't that what people hated about MW2 because of the constant death by nade launcher, spawn kill, and lone-wolf-dickery. EA, how about make a game with the pace of MW2 but give players MORE incentive to work as a T-E-A-M and give us more unlocks that 2 damn scopes. On a side note, why the hell can't I equip my M4 or G3 with a damn scope in BC2? I can put on on my UZI but not my assault rife?

Whew. . .

What was I talking about?

I think the reason you can't equip scopes on those specific weapons is because they're unlocks for all classes, as opposed to specific class unlocks.

No, the worst is that they tease us in the trailers with G3s' and M14s' that have x4 scope on!

@That Burning Sensation Basically, when they were testing the game, they found that people used the M14 and G3 with those attachments as sort of sniper rifles of sorts, and that it detracted from the purpose and supposed role of the gun, so they removed the ability to attach such scopes. Personally, I agree with this, but you can rant and rave all you want.

@That Burning Sensation

from a PC gamer's perspective what IW really did wrong (and EA simply followed suit)

- no dedicated servers. i realize that MOH has dedicated servers but you have no control over settings or modding on them, nor can you even run them where you like.
- no mod support at all! no new maps, you cant even turn off air strikes or noob toobs if they ruin the game.
- no means to record game play anymore. You have nothing but maybe a poorly compressed video from fraps (if you can or want to run both) to submit for viewing for cheaters.

Lets be honest here, once again, its just another console game that was ported to PC.

I'll be all over this game if they just do away with melee in general. Or make it non-lethal or something. The problem I see with military shooters is that they let the players run right into a hail of gunfire and cut people down with knives or something equally silly. The guns just aren't dangerous like they should be.

Personally I'd rather stick with arcade shooters, not that there are many of those I like anymore either. As far as military shooters go, I'll stick with the Clancy titles and maybe wait for the day something like Operation Flashpoint gets some actual polish.

As someone who has been playing Medal of Honor since before the original Call of Duty this is a real shame. I hope the final release isn't a let down.

I will not be buying this game, in my experience 90% of EA games are pretty crappy (this is only my opinion, I respect that yours may differ). I don't like sports games, many of the shooters are just carbon copys of ones already out with worse spawns and worse customisation. The only EA games I like are.

Mirrors Edge
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Battlefield 1943
Dragon Age Origins

I bet this game gets quite a big preorder base then everybody will see how bad it is and the pre-owned game shops will be full of them. I may buy it when the price goes down to $10 if the campaign is worth a play but overall, no thanks.

The multiplayer for Medal of Honor is being made by DICE.

Luckily, there's Battlefield BC2 (not that I own it yet)
I haven't played MW2 but if it and it's multiplayer was like the first, the Battlefield series with their vehicles and destruction just seem a class above.

@Indefinite Implosion: I much prefer structured levels with pre-planned vantage points to the environments in Bad Company that are very straight forward and eventually just half a building with no really tactical advantage left.

@jynxycat Theirs really 2 sides to this, enviromental destruction is really fun, but can also provide a tactical nightmare. I think BFBC2 makes up for this with their tactical game types and the fact that you dont destroy a whole building in 1 shot. My opinion is, more destruction is much better because it keeps the game fresh, evey map can change each game depending on what building you decide to destroy.

Yeah exactly, while jynxcat has a point, the destructible environments allows for those epic "battlefield" moments(like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vepiJznvvY0) that you get and the fact that unlike other FPS' it's a more fluid game. You can go to capture one flag at one point and then go to recapture it later the area can look totally different and of course the vehicles add to this. Damn, I need to get a job and buy that game.

And even if that building has been destroyed? Who knows you may find snipers hiding in the rubble (makes a great spot to focus on one or two directions)

I REALLY need to get that job.
Also, @jynxycat: I think that there won't be environmental destruction in the single player part of this game but there will be in the multiplayer (which is where it's best suited for) as the single player uses unreal engine 3 while multi uses the frostbite engine.

@Indefinite Implosion In the BETA maps, there isn't any destruction, apart from small predefined low walls or crates.

With all the bugs and similarity to COD, it's a real letdown. I think I'll cancel my Steam preorder.

No, they're trying to diversify their profile. EA has already locked up those of us who can't stand the way Modern Warfare plays with Bad Company 2. Medal of Honor is EA's shot across Activision's bow and an attempt to be this year's big shooter.

I'd be willing to bet a substantial amount of cash that when EA went to DICE and said, "hey, we've got EALA making an awesome single-player modern war game, and we want you to develop the multiplayer component because that's what you guys do best," what immediately followed was, "oh, and make it less like Battlefield and much more like Call of Duty."

DICE made the statement against twitch shooters with BC2. MoH is almost certainly an afterthought for them between BC2 and whatever they happen to be leading into next. (Mirror's Edge 2?)

@Architecture I suppose you're right. What I meant, I suppose, is that MW-type gameplay is a step back from BC2 gameplay. Twitchy, lone-wolf, junk. But it makes sense that if EA wants to go after the MW gamer, they're gonna make a MW-type game. I was naively hoping for a refinement of BC2's already-great gameplay, not a copy of MW2's style.

I agree with your sentiment, but all this really points to is the fact that new content for BC2 is SORELY lacking, and something I'd be willing to shell out for. While BC2: Vietnam interests me, I'd prefer for that to be in addition to a number of new maps for Rush and Conquest.

I hate to admit it (especially after extolling the detrimental effect MW2's overpriced map packs will have on the industry as a whole), but I'd probably be willing to pay Activision prices for new maps and kit.

@Architecture There are two things that bother me about BC2's content. First, they're trying to convince us that unlocking existing modes on existing maps is actually "new content." Second, if they want VIP to be worth a damn, they should be giving VIPs stuff like Onslaught for free. And yeah, it's ironic that they made fun of Activision for charging for new maps and then turned around and decided "Hey, it's totally worth $10 to give people a new mode and no new maps. What's that, you say? People with VIP codes? We should make it worthwhile for them to get VIP by giving them content that's decent? Nah! $10, I say!"

Why are you guys so pessimistic? Just because Dead Space had an over the shoulder view and shooting doesn't make it a Resident Evil 4 ripoff. It's starting to become a pet peeve of mine that every FPS HAS to be compared with none other than MW2, which really isn't that wonderful of a game to begin with.

It's obvious that EA is rebooting MOH to try and be just as successful as Activision was with MW2, but you guys know that DICE is developing this, right? So if anything, comparisons should be drawn between this and BFBC2. NOT Modern Warfare 2. When did that game EVER become a standard for FPS's?

Not quite sure on the timeline but it may have become the standard after MW2 buried BFBC2 in both sales and critical reception. Let's be honest, folks, BFBC2 is only THE standard for FPSs among elitist dudes on the internet that bitch when things (read: MW2) become too popular.

They really need to work out the spawning issues, its completely random and often you spawn with your back to the other team. Also, I wish they carried over the communication you have with your team in BFBC2, i.e. being able to spot enemies for your teammates. I haven't heard anyone else using mics in the beta so far.
