PlayStation Move bundled with Resident Evil 5 in Japan

Given all the release announcements, new games and other such hullabaloo that's recently surrounded the PlayStation Move, we wouldn't be surprised if you've forgotten about one of the earliest titles known to support the ice cream cone-shaped peripheral: Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition. Perhaps this will jog your memory: Sony Japan recently announced that the game will be bundled with the Move controller and PlayStation Eye, a package which will sell for 7,980 yen (about $90).

Sadly, zero gamers will be purchasing this particular bundle, as Sony Japan also announced the "PlayStation Move BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING Perfect Pack," a commanding package which includes Time Crisis: Razing Storm, Dead Storm Pirates and Time Crisis 4: Arcade Version. Of course, this bundle costs 11,980 yen (about $136) and features three games that, even when combined, aren't as good as RE5 -- but still! It's the BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING Perfect Pack. How are we supposed to say no to that?

Additional Bundle Packs to Accompany the Launch of the Motion Controller,
Further Enhancing the PlayStation Move Launch Line-ups

Tokyo, July 6, 2010 – Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. responsible for business operation in Japan, today announced that it will release two PlayStation Move bundle packs, "PlayStation Move Bio Hazard 5 Alternative Edition Special Pack" and "PlayStation Move BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING Perfect Pack," to accompany the launch of the motion controller on October 21, as a limited offer at a recommended retail price of 7,980 yen and 11,980 yen (including tax) respectively. Along with the "PlayStation Move Starter Pack"*1 that will also become available on the same day, SCE will offer users with more choices and opportunities to enjoy the PlayStation Move and further accelerate the expansion of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) platform.

"PlayStation Move Bio Hazard 5 Alternative Edition Special Pack" comprises a PlayStation Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye camera and PlayStation Move supported software title, Bio Hazard 5 Alternative Edition by CAPCOM Co., Ltd. Since its release in February 2010, Bio Hazard 5 Alternative Edition continues to show record breaking sales and this new bundle pack will offer users more intuitive and immersive gameplay that only PlayStation Move can deliver.

"PlayStation Move BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING Perfect Pack" features a PlayStation Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye camera, PlayStation Move supported software title, BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING by Bandai Namco Games Inc., as well as PlayStation Move shooting attachment that will allow players to comfortably hold the motion controller as if they are holding a gun. Delivering exciting and realistic shooting action, BIG 3 GUN SHOOTING includes three key franchise titles from Bandai Namco; Time Crisis Razing Storm, Dead Storm Pirates and Time Crisis 4 Arcade Ver.

SCE Worldwide Studios will also continue to add new titles to the PlayStation Move software line-ups, including newly announced action game, Furifuri! Saru Gecchu, to be released in 2010. Furthermore, as a limited time offer starting October 21, users who purchase PlayStation Move motion controller*2 will receive PlayStation Move Omnibus Demo Disk (tentative name) that contains a demo version of various PlayStation Move supported and dedicated titles.

Through the introduction of these new PlayStation Move bundle packs, SCE will continue to further expand the PS3 platform and create a new world of computer entertainment that is only possible on PlayStation.

Wo, $90 bucks with RE5. If that comes stateside, I don't know if I would be able to resist that. Wait, I already have the Eye, guess that blows that for me.

Yeah, I really don't know if I am ready to immediately jump on board with Move or Kinect. I am just more apt to buy a PS3 product, because I spend most my gaming time with it.

I also already have an PSEye. However, I already decided I'm buying a bundle and selling the eye on amazon / ebay and buying a move game with the money. I probably won't even buy a nav controller unless using a DS3 is just completely uncomfortable.

@Johnnynumber5 is powered by cell I had that same thought. I really WANT Move to be cool, if that means anything. I think there is alot of people who don't actually want it to be fun/cool/worthwhile

It does mean something. It means we aren't writing it off before we try it. It means we want it to succeed and be more than just a cheap gimmick. My big hope is mostly for killzone 3, socom 4, heroes on the move, Resident Evil and that Sorcery game. Those games appear to have the most substance to them and are more than just glorified tech demoes. I'm excited for it and I hope it turns out to be better than I thought it'd be.

Oh my bad, I could swear they were patching it, I take it back in shame.

The dualshock 3 is completely uncomfortable in the left hand, trying to manipulate the left thumbstick (hard to grip)

Well, you can get RE5 for about $10 now off of ebay, so this really isn't much incentive. And if you already have the pseye, forget it.

Well, the gold edition, which I guess would be equivalent to the Alternative edition, is newer and not as cheap. I can't say how much of a difference it makes though, as I don't have either.

Pretty sure the gold edition is the one being patched with move support not the regular edition.

The original is getting patched with move support, but Gold has all the DLC included.

I'm pissed that they aren't patching Move into the original edition of the game. If it wasn't for all the people who bought the first one there wouldn't even be a Gold edition. Way to screw your game's early supporters, Capcom.

That's messed up. The people who bought the full game for $60 day one don't get to play it with Move (after paying what? $60 for move and another $20 for the camera?) Sony expects these people to drop another $50 on a game they already own? Greedy.

@CaramelZappa Yeah, plus a lot of us invested $10-15 into the regular edition on top of the $60 for the DLC, which now goes down the drain if we switch over to Gold edition. I won't buy it.

I'm not sure how you can blame Sony for Capcoms decision on which version gets move support. I don't even understand how you can say Sony is being greedy when this is all on Capcom. In fact, Sony is pricing all first party move titles at $39.99 versus full retail price for all Kinect games. It seems Sony is going above and beyond to not be greedy on Move pricing.

Maybe they'll patch the original version as well. Perhaps it'll be sold as $5 DLC add on or something similar. At least they've been up front about it even though it does seem like a big FU to the original adopters.

Time Crisis? Wow, it will feel like you're in a real arcade playing one of the worst games ever made. But instead of paying $0.25, you'll be paying $136.00. I can't wait!
