I think it's REALLY sad that half of those studios are making CoD games. Although I'm still not so sure IW is gonna hold up much longer.

also, it breaks my heart that they are involved in a 'reboot' of GoldenEye, it truly does.

Yes I did and I came into a conclusion that Activision cares more about the profit they are going to make rather than improving the quality of their videogames. For example, take a look at Guitar Hero games. Isn't it a bit sad that despite the innovation that the game brought, Activision has made it into something that they could milk off of.

Instead of focusing on one game and adding more DLC (a reasonable priced one), they just continue to make a new version of the game each year which means that their games gets old quite fast. Truly, I'm disappointed, as a gamer who used to respect Activision.

First of all, Activision, like all game publishers, is in this business to make a profit. They're just being up front with their desire for profitability. Don't get fooled by the EA or THQ exec that says they'll sacrifice profits to satiate the hardcore gamer, because they never will. The execs' first responsibility is to shareholders

Secondly, with Activision's new development strategy, who's to say that they won't support their titles? With the studios focusing on one game at a time, instead of 3-4 at a time (see Treyarch in 2008 with CoD, Bond, Web of Shadows), I believe the studios can focus on expanding content on their one game they created for the year.

I know, it's difficult to think that they've changed their colors on DLC, but look at the support they're giving Guitar Hero 5 / Band Hero: they've already put out more DLC songs than they did for World Tour!

Then again, who's to say that they've changed at all?

Obviously Activision cares about profits more than anything else. But that doesn't mean this isn't also a step towards improving their games.

I really don't like how Activision refers to exploiting franchises.

Then again, it's probably an accurate description of what they like to do.

Shouldn't Bungie be in that picture too?
I realise they don't own Bungie but they did sell their souls to Activision afterall lol.

Pretty interesting that there's not even a mention of Blizzard in all of that. Good for Blizzard I suppose.
