Selling to the models that are actually used and liked? Well done, Sony.

Well I'm pretty sure if the selling point was a bit better everyone would use and like them, it's not a bad product, I have one and use it everyday, but I actually do look back and think "What the hell was I thinking spending that much?"

How many times is Sony going to shoot themselves in the foot over PSP? Can someone at Sony sit down and think of a real plan for that thing please?

And the worst part is that us ardent fans are screaming at the top of our lungs EXACTLY what they need to do. And instead they go with a new marketing campaign that doesn't really highlight the PSPs good qualities. God I hope they learn a few things by the time PSP2 or whatever is announced...

The bigger story is that, according to this article, there are actually PSP Go owners.

I'm a PSP Go Owner. Love it. Own a PSP-2000 as well. They serve different purposes and both do it well.

PSP Go is still an overpriced piece of shit. And I still love it. :( I'm an idiot. Why can't I quit you? :(

Does the camera have a microphone built in, for people with PSP models prior to the 3000?

you'd probably have to use the headset that has the mic in it.

I totally prefer my PSP Go in form and function over my old 3000 I traded in for it. As of late, however, I am getting a little irked at how Sony is seeming to abandon support for the Go so soon after it came out. When I first bought it, I was an idiot and assumed digital downloads would be far cheaper than physical copies, and that lots of old UMD games would be converted to digital on the PSN every week. God, I feel like an idiot.

your way of thinking sounds good to me.
Sony's the idiot for not following through.

They've hardly ever really followed through with the PSP. They must have pulled away from the Go because most of their promises they made months before its release never really made it out, and the unreasonably high price and small marketing didn't really help out.

I don't see why they didn't give it a built-in camera since they made it incompatible with the add-on, and they have no plans of making an add-on...

@DVDSandwich Also, am I the only one that's noticed it looks like they were going to add a second analog and changed their minds at the last minute of designing? Look at start/select...

I don't understand why Sony released the Go in the first place. The fans did not ask for that. I have a 3000 and love it. The Go reminds me of that tiny Gameboy that Nintendo released at the end of it's lifecycle. I think it was called the Micro. The SP was the way to go on that one. Anyway, It's becoming more apparent that the Go just isn't a win for the consumer.

Hmm...no workarounds for a peripheral that was developed at Least a couple years ago? Man...whatever could an Electronics Company do in a situation like this?

Oh, I know! Make A New Compatible Camera.

What idiots.

My PSPgo is my best and worse purchase ever.

It's everything I wanted my 2000 to be but doomed by its own creator.

If you didn't feel kicked in the teeth about the PSPgo before, now is your chance.

I can understand taking chances, and those chances not paying off. But a proliferation of non-compatible console hardware is what killed SEGA's reputation amongst the gaming community in the late 90's. Hopefully this is the only portable mistake that Sony makes for a while.

Why the hell can't they make one PSP that has all the hardware that you could need for games and then support it fully for many months / years to come. Geez feels like they are milking the money cow.

@LuckyDingo

It's not a matter of "can". They could make a regular camera that attaches to the proprietary USB port if they WANTED to. Notice the key word there.

Ok, so the PSPgo can't support the camera.... and the PSP & PSPgo have 2 different system updates...... SO CAN YOU REMOVE THE FREAKIN' CAMERA ICON FROM THE PSPgo XMB ALREADY???

But this is a company that continues to bundle PSP-3000s with 2 GB memory sticks that are too small to fit the 2.5 GB movie download voucher in the same bundle. And Sony *still* hasn't noticed that's a problem. So it's not like anything they do/don't do is a surprise......

I still can't believe how Sony corporate still has its various departments unwilling to actually work together for some of this shit. IIRC, the reason why there isn't a camera in the PSP Go was because their Sony Camera department would have started to kick shit into the air or some such. Where is the corporate synergy?

Lack of hardware foresight, and $50 too expensive, and witness failure happen before you.

I hate that I'm commenting again on this but, if you go to the blog-link, you'll see this exchange:

Sid is there any work around or adapter for the camera for the PSPgo because both invisimals and Eyepet for PSP look great and I would like to get them but I purchased the White PSPgo on launch day and does that mean I’m SOL?

Sid Shuman | July 3rd, 2010 at 2:19 pm
No workaround that I know — the camera was designed for the pre-go models only. Maybe you can borrow a friend’s?

..."Maybe you can borrow a friend's"? No! That is the exact opposite of what one should need to do when they purchase your products! Wasn't there a commercial campaign about "get your own" PSP? I've never been this upset about a gaming device.

Buy a PSP 3000 for $169 (or toss in Peace Walker for $199, highly recommended!), buy a 16 GB Sony memory stick for $49, and you've got the same capacity, a larger screen, a removable battery and an entire library of UMD games to pick from for less than the cost of the Go.

I'm sure there are Go fans out there bummed by the lack of camera support, among other things... but it was clear from day one this thing wasn't a big success.
