I recently started working at a Subway.

The best has to be a personal cheese/veggie pizza with chicken strips, BBQ sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, olives, tomatos, onions, and bell peppers. Then you toast it.

As much as I hate it, the $20 coupon is pretty clever. Psychologically, to the consumer it feels like they are getting the game for $40 but gamestop still gets their money either way. I hate that preorders only offer in game stuff though. I wish we got some sort of collectors items or something. not even something expensive. Just something better than content that is already on the disk.

I know, but at least that way Gamestop is assuring that they get the $20. They still make an INSANE profit off each $20 spent. Games have such a high mark up price its crazy. Especially used games.

Amazon does it too, only better. No tax, and Prime Members get two day free shipping. I salivate when I don't give GameStop money.

See, now I'm the exact opposite. I prefer quality in-game stuff for preorders, limited/collector's editions, etc. SO many do the art books...I'm so tired of that. They're worthless.

Keep in mind the $20 coupon offered here will NOT stack with other coupon codes, nor will it work with certain items like systems. In addition, Amazon has a pre-order bonus for Reach, too- and its $20 credit works with everything.

Yeah those items don't look That cool I have to say. But considering it's a little bonus as well as that 20 dollar credit is nice. Though like someone said 45 dollars for a new copy is the best deal by far.

I mean it's a pretty good deal. You get the game for $40 should you use it when you buy the game. Better than $45 at Newegg.

It's $20 towards a future purchase, not for the Reach pre-order. That said, if Gamestop is your store of choice for new games, it still works out in the long run.

@swooded I've actually never preordered at GS, do you pay in full when you preorder? Or do you put some cash down like how GC was (before the whole closing everywhere forever thing)? I assumed you didn't have to pay in full and could use the $20 when you pay the rest when you pick up.

Oh well, it's not like anyone will be wearing it past the first week anyway, we'll all be wearing the armour we paid cold, hard cR for.

Meh. I'm just not a fan of these increasingly prevalent exclusive preorder bonuses.

With that being said, I guess I'll be getting it since I already preordered this from the Gamestop in my town. Good ol' fashioned midnight release here I come!

yea that would be the one part i hate about ordering online. they dont ship it till the day it comes out. i think they should ship the day before that way it would get there a little sooner.

I pre-ordered ODST from best buy (it was order 1 half off another) and i didnt get it till a week later. I was quite mad and told them i would never order from them again until they shorten the shipping time.

Yeah, free release date delivery was definitely just one awesome thing about having an Amazon Prime trial. Generally I'll still buy from them and wait it out since it's so easy to build up promotional credit. But this is one game I definitely want right when it comes out.

agreed, ordering from a place should NEVER affect in game play, why should someone get a boost just because they decided to buy from another store

It's not really stated in this article, but Bungie has previously said the Recon helmet will be given to everyone in North America that purchases the game Day 1. It's a preorder bonus in Europe.

In other words the only exclusive for Gamestop is the chestpiece I'll never use, so my pre-order will remain at Best Buy.

I see, so there will be way more Europeans with Recon helmets? Fair trade I guess. My OCD is starting to kick in though though, it's saying "no matter what you do, you will never get 100% of the armours."

Feels bad man.

@WINterfang Maybe because with other games it's just incentive to invest on a game that might blow? Maybe because pre-order bonuses are only accessible in the country where those stores are, hence alienating the rest of the world?

I personally hate them for the second reason. I'm in South America, so I have no access to those unless I'm willing to pay 80 dollars or more for the game plus bonuses.

EBGames/Gamestop = same ting = Owned by Same Company = Preorder Bonus for 1 is Preorder Bonus for other

also if your local EBGames/Gamestop doesn't give you pre order Bonus
Email "help@gamestop.com" with an attachment of your receipt telling them you didn't get the bonus from your store.

or,

Call "(800) 883-8895" and let the Customer Service person know the above information and they will email you a code.

I actually just did this a few months ago for the Starcraft 2 Beta code after reordering the game(when they were supposedly out) and they emailed me the code and everything.

What was already said, and the fact that most of the bonuses are just items that are either already on the disc, or were created/taken off disc specifically to be launched as pre-order dlc stuffs.

Not to mention sometimes multiple stores get different items, so picking it up a certain store can instantly exclude you from getting an item some other store had.

Either make all pre-order bonuses available as premium dlc at a later date, or make them free dlc after like 6-12 months. Also, make every store get the same pre-order items, none of this "go to best buy to get a new dagger, go to gamestop to get a new pistol, go to wal-mart to get new armor, or go to target to get a new vehicle... all for the same game!"

It's just annoying and unnecessary to split up the bonuses and only give them to people who preorder.

While I do hate most Gamestop locations or their tactics, (i go to a local mom & pop shop usually), I will revisit for Reach.

A group of friends and I have camped out at the same Gamestop for Halo midnight releases since Halo 2. Now that we're out of high school, and this is the last of the series (possibly), we want to reunite and do it one last time. After we get our copies, we want to LAN all night and catch up on old times.

In my eyes, these are just extra goodies thrown in that I could do with or without. It's less of where you get it, more of who you get it with.

PS- I will be getting the Legendary edition :)

@WINterfang

Well I usually preorder my games anyways, but there are many times where I really want to buy a game, but just forget the release date (Mirror's Edge, but I was lucky the gamestop had extra messenger bags and I got one anyways).

Then there are other times where I know it comes out on a certain date but I just don't plan to buy it right away for whatever reason (3D Dot Game Heroes).

Then there are people who get their system late in the life cycle and still buy the games new because they don't want scratches (a friend at work) but they don't get any bonuses then.

It's not needed, but it does feel like the people who buy it new but don't pre-order are getting shafted. I think it should just be all new copies bought say in the first 2-3 months of release. That's more than fair for everyone I think.

I personally don't give two fu@ks about armor in reach, it doesn't effect gameplay, only the what OTHEr people see when they look at you. Really, when you get close enough to an enemy do you look at their armor? no your firing as frantically as you can into what you hope is their face. This is why the leveling up has me worried, if i dont care about armor, why do i want to level up? Anyhoo thats my story, it was cool I know, i'm still super psyched for reach either way.
