Get your first taste of God of War: Ghost of Sparta gameplay
44
By now, we've all seen the God of War: Ghost of Sparta trailer about a few hundred times, but Sony's finally hooked us up with the good stuff -- actual gameplay footage. Past the break, you can soak your eyes in just over a minute of footage of Kratos doing what he does best: cutting down fools and harvesting their sweet, sweet orbs. We get the guy is all mad about his dead family and stuff, but does he have to eat his enemy's souls? Does he have to go that far?

Hey, that looks like more God of War.
Which, is exactly what I wanted.
Never change, Kratos.
Never, ever change.

Looks really good. Reminds me of the first GoW on PS2.

Woah, it looks just like God of War.
Wait, it looks JUST like God of War. Why would I want to play it on PSP then!?
Please Sony, make something that entices me to want to play my PSP and not something that reminds me that I could be playing a bigger better version of the same game. Why not do something different with God of War on PSP like you did with Killzone Liberation?

It works for those who only owns a PSP and not a PS3, like me months ago.

I disagree. The console God of War games got increasingly better and offered a grandiose experience for action games (at the time of their release).
The PSP God of War game felt like a 3 hour demo for the better console version. You can arguably say that GoW2 is better than GoW1, but when comparing it to the PSP GoW, it is obviously a reduced version of a better game.
I'm not saying Chains is bad, but I prefer not play GoW abridged and would rather have a different experience.

True, it is a reduced version of a better game...because it's on the PSP. They can't make it as big, long, and epic as they can on the PS2 or PS3. DUH! But they always add different weapons, magic, and other new gameplay elements. Not to mention a new story. So it's always a new game.

Hmm. It looks...solid, but I'm wondering if maybe, for me, the magic is gone for God of War. It looks very much like the other games, and has *fantastic* graphics for being on the PSP, but...I dunno.
It just doesn't scream at me. Well, Kratos does, but he's always screaming.

:/ I fail to see the logic, if the 'exact same game' is making them monies, why would they want to change it? Futhermore, what would they gain from equipping Kratos with a space marine outfit and sending him into the future to deal with the robot gods, thats a change, its just not a change people want :/

"They" shouldn't want to change anything, but "you" should. And stop talking about space marines. No one but you has even insinuated that people are begging for some kind of Kratos/Master Chief love-fest. There are ways to make the formula fresh without throwing the story 2300 years into the future and adding lasers.

How do you know they haven't added any new gameplay elements? There's only been a hands-on demo and a minute-long video so far. Other than new enemies, bosses, and a new story, I'm sure they've added a few new things.

Does everyone want Kratos running a pet adoption center putting down animals with his bare hands? Well, that'd be pretty sick... but how else is God Of War supposed to be? You don't fix something that isn't broken, the gameplay is amazing, but there's also a story in every game too which keeps me coming back. Not the damned gameplay, you guys need to quit whining!

The story is basically the book "Greek Myths For Dummies" but instead of a narrator there's an albino dude with a deicidal streak who's so emotionally one-dimensional that he only knows how to be angry. The "gameplay" consists of pressing "x" until the game tells you to press "o". Lather, rinse, repeat.
The problem with people enjoying God of War is that it's a game that caters to the lowest common denominator of people in general and gamers specifically. It's uninspired tripe that has to throw in enough boobs and decapitations to distract you into ignoring the fact that it's shallow, soulless experience that, when stripped of its XTREME facade just isn't that much fun.
But hey, why fix it, right? If you like dumb, loud, brainless spectacle, who am I to disagree?

Funny thing how the game is really a spinoff of the whole greek mythos thing. I don't know why you are bashing GOW because almost all games cater to the lowest common denominator of people. In COD you kill people. Halo you kill people (elites but theres that multiplayer). If you don't like it, leave it alone.

For one, the greek myths are pretty accurate and it's interesting to see how Kratos 'is a part of' these myths. Also, the story isn't shallow at all, and neither is how it's told. And actually, Kratos doesn't have only one dimension. If you actually played the games, then you would know that he is very heartbroken about killing his family. Being heartbroken leads to, yes, anger, but also shear sadness.

as long as they keep the formula and keep the stories fresh.
( didnt kratos serve the gods for 10 years?) they have an insane amount of time to fill possible future titles
GOW -and the trojan war
GOW- vs the other gods he forgot to kill
Gow- kratos goes to anger managment
