Platinum Games' first Shinji Mikami-helmed title, Vanquish, will slide, jumpkick, and then pulverize European retail on October 22, according to a press release from Sega Europe. While no release window beyond "winter" has been nailed down for the game's North American debut, Famitsu puts an October 21 date on the game's Japanese arrival (via VG247).
It seems we won't have long to wait before hearing about our own release date, however, as Sega added that it'll be able to talk worldwide dates "shortly." While we wait for that, why not join us in watching this flippy, explosioney trailer for the game, hmm?
Sega also announced European pre-order bonuses for the stylish shooter -- a set of three downloadable guns that will be given away with pre-orders from "selected retailers."
Update: Release date and pre-order info has arrived via press release and been added to this post.

I am curious as to what a NA release requires in addition to a UK one. I know EU laws might require translations available for multiple languages, which could add a delay. But unless they constantly talk about the lieu and football (rest of the world football, not american) I don't foresee much extra translation time needed.

I actually thought that this game wouldn't make a release this year. Hopefully they'll announce something soon.
There's so much coming out, I'm psyched! I can't wait for August and beyond.

I know people will hate me for saying this, but this looks like a game I'd like multiplayer on...

Mikami has stated before that it won't have multiplayer because of Vanquish's focus on fast-paced action. If it were to have multiplayer a lot of the gameplay mechanics like the power to slow down time would have to be removed and it wouldn't be Vanquish anymore. It would be your average generic shooter. Basically to be faithful to the soul of the game there is no multiplayer and I am perfectly ok with that.

I agree with Mikami's judgment on this one. Vanquish looks like a cool game, but forcing its gameplay into a multiplayer environment doesn't seem like it would have the best results.

@MK4512 Many also said they wanted multiplayer for Bioshock 2 and look how well that turned out...

You know what? I commend Platinum Games. Although Madhouse was a disappointment, they keep coming out with new IPs instead of forcing franchises out of games that don't deserve it.
Hazzzah! What a concept!!!!!
